  1. We would go on her tomorrow without any problem.

Just got off Crown last Saturday and are due to go again end of July. Need I say more.

Yes, she is getting on in years, but we did not find anything that needed a complaint and the staff were great.

A cruise is what you make it and we count ourselves lucky that we can still afford it. I'm sure you will be fine. :):D:p

  2. Apparently Princess are in the process of changing the MTP rules so that only cruises taken onboard Princess will be counted in the future and not those on P&O. I believe everything else is staying the same.

    Hi

Quite correct. Apparently our May cruise on Crown was one of the first to have the new rules applied. CC host explained that the Company felt that many former P and O cruisers were taking either their first/second Process cruise, and immediately taking the MTP awards having only done say under 20 days with Princess. However, they are still counting P and O days for the Captains Circle status.

  3. Great review. Well considered. We were on this cruise and are doing it again on July 29th. We obviously like this itinerary and in our opinion, was made better by the fact that we didn't make Genoa, but on Captain's recommendation, went to Santa Margherita. Having been to both, what a bonus!! Such a pretty port.

We are long time Princess and previous P and O cruises, because of the new rules re the MTP, we made third place which was great. We have 685 days but mostly with Princess. . Happy days.

  4. Just off Crown. Rules are now:-

Use an coffee card from a previous cruise, then no complimentary tea, coffee and hot chocolate. Punches taken.

.However, coffee card purchased on current cruise, then complimentary beverages apply. Been like this for 2/3 years. Havent tried yet with an old card with no voyage number on reverse.

  5. Just off the Crown and the new policy re Most Travelled Passengers seem to be well received. No adverse comments at the CC Party and the CC host said that most members welcomed the change.

Incidentally, anyone travelling on Crown Princess in the next couple of months, will meet Barbara the CC host, who was such a lovely lady and made our cruise so very special. A credit to the Company. Thank you.;p:cool:

  6. On Crown at moment and the qualification for for MTP awards has changed. Circle host explained that the the 1st, 2nd and 3rd awards and the Luncheon/ Cocktail party for the 40 MTP wil now only count for days earned with Princess cruises and not P and O. The company felt that somebody could be doing their first/second Princess cruise and quality for the above awards having only done P and O cruises. However, the P and O cruises would still qualify for immediate inclusion into Elite status after their first Princess cruise.

  7. Absolutely. You can change the night and time as well as select which specialty restaurant you want. Call the DINE line after boarding or stop by the specialty restaurant you want to go to.

Thanks Pam, always a font of all knowledge. Just one more question, if we are Elite do we get two mini bar set ups with a complimentary upgrade? Methinks if so, will have to exchage one for two coffee cards, hic.

  8. Done 60 Princess cruises and have never been upgraded or offered an up sell. So don't hold your breath! ! Have given up hoping. Probably think we are hooked and won't bother. Would nice to be rewarded a little for our loyalty. Still, we do have the nice Elite benefits which we enjoy.

Cannot believe it - we have been upgraded from a Club Class Mini to a Suite. Co-incidence?, or perhaps Princess monitor these boards and felt sorry for us.

Thank you Princess and I now believe "all good things come to those that "wait". By the way we sail on Saturday on Crown.:D:cool::cool::)

  10. I'm on Crown now. They were late into Southampton due to adverse weather in the Bay of Biscay. Didn't sail till around 6.30pm. We 've arrived in St Peter Port on schedule though and the sea is lovely and calm.

    Hi

Glad to hear seas have calmed down now. Hope the Bay is the same.

We join Crown on Saturday. Just wondered who the Hotel Manager and Maitre D, are? Pls don't use up precious Internet minutes, but if you post again, any info would be great. Meanwhile calm seas and safe voyage

    TIA

    :cool::)

  11. We hit rough weather Thursday evening just before Biscay, that lasted until the Solent, about 4am this morning and as a result we lost about 3 hours - crew are working really to hard to keep those of us still on board happy whilst getting ready for new passengers about to start their holiday - realistically I can't see the last of us disembarking much before 1pm ... I'm hoping the storms have cleared for those heading out the other way in a few hours time

Oh dear. Hope those with flights managed to re-arrange. Apart from the weather yesterday , hope you enjoyed your cruise.

  12. Am I correct in thinking that if booking a Club Class mini, all meals are available in the Club Class dining room or is it only suites that are permitted to take every meal there (thinking particularly of breakfast)? Sorry, just looking at itineraries on Diamond and wanted to know the difference as CC wasn't available on our last Princess sailing.

Minis can take all meals in CC Section of MDR I. e Breakfast, Lunch (when open) and Dinner. That is one of the main reasons for booking th club class mini syites.:D

  13. Sorry, No. One of the sellng points of club class is that they guarantee there will be little, or no wait to be seated. Therefore if all suite and club class passengers brought friends, this could increase the number of club class guests by say 2/3/4 times.

  14. Ah, that makes sense, but supposing I were to book and pay for it now at the current rate, could I cancel the beverage package and rebook onboard in dollars if I wished?

We've always found that you can cancel any pre paid reservations - obc, beverage packages etc up to 72 hours before embarkation. Therefore if the dollar rate changes yout have the option to go with it or cancel. The paid amount then goes back in €s to the CC originally used. Also when you purchase the amount is charged to your card in pounds as an ordinary gift purchase. It therefore is not classed as a cash advance. Otherwise wait till nearer the time before purchase.
