We have been been on Princess cruises many times during the world cup, euros and during premiership season. They have always had LIVE football in the cabins, casino and on deck via MUTS. If the weather was inclement at the time, then last World Cup they had it on tvs in Vista Lounge. Sailing from Southampton with possibly 80% Brits on board we have found this is normally so. Just keep your fingers crossed that the sattilite reception is favourable.

However, for all your non lovers of the footie, be assured there is still plenty of other entertainment offered.!!!

Is your 2018 Sapphire Princess cruise sailing out of Southampton? If so, when you compare your fare to that an American pays, add the cost of roundtrip airfare and probably a night at a UK hotel to the American's fare. That will give a better comparison in determining if the American's cruise cost is competitive with the Brit's cruise.

I don't think passenger is querying the overall price of the cruise, but the fact that uk cruisers only get one price drop (£100 admin fee) and then incur penalty of having to cancel, lose deposit paid and any obc benefits. Comparing conditions against US who get multiple price drops and no loss of deposit till final payment.

It obviously pays to keep on trying. Spoke to someone else this morning who was in the UK (we seem to go through to the US outside of office hours) and have been able to pay the £100 admin charge (£50 per person) to change to today’s offer. We have lost the OBC associated with the original booking but kept the FCC OBC. Overall we have saved £300. Feeling much happier now :D

Seems to confirm my previous post re our price reduction earlier this year. Our t/a confirmed this to us and just contacted Princess to re-fare us. We were lucky in that the same obc was still being offered so we kept this,along with our fcc and military benefit.

However we were advised that any future reduction would mean a cancellation with subsequent loss of deposit and other benefits.

Definitely worth taking the £100 hit if the saving is more.

As I understand it, UK cruisers are now allowed a one off "fare drop" at an £100 administration charge any time before final payment. After this, then you have to cancel and rebook, thereby losing your deposit. We got a fare drop as recently s July using this method. I should speak to your t/a again about this. Bearing mind though ypu would lose any obc if this isn't included on the present lower prices.

Found this also on the Crown. Had a free upgrade to a Suite and had berries every morning in Sabatini's for breakfast. However, when I asked for them in the MDR for either lunch or dinner they had mysteriously disappeared. Was told sorry no berries. Did say they we still prolific in Sabatini's breakfast, was met with a black expression. Did think of asking for a spare bowl as we left Sabatini's to carry in to MDR on next visit, but decided not to be so petty.

Suppose if you pay more, then more. chouce becomes available .

The two cabanas on the Crown are only used for on deck massages booked via the Spa. They are there not bookable as part of the Sanctuary reservation system. Hope this helps.

IF we have any obc left at the end of the cruise, we just go to the casino slots and put cc into machine and transfer any surplus on to our card. Remove card and go to Casino cage and cash out. Job done and cash in hand.

Glad to say that after good work by our T/A and their refusal to be fobbed off with excuses, my on board promotional credit from Princess, is now showing on our Cruise Personaliser as it has done every previous cruise.

Apparently she managed to speak to "someone at Princess who had been there a long time and knew what she was talking about". Well done and has proved one of the benefits of a good T/A

Thanks. As you say, just have to go with the flow at the moment. Just feel at the moment, it is only us who has this problem.Will definitely take a copy of my booking confirmation with me and trust the system on board mirrors the invoice.

Still have the same problem of Princess obc not showing on our cruise personaliser, despite great efforts from our t/a in trying to get an answer. Rang Princess direct ladt werk and was told "possibly a glitch in the system and they were fixing it". Think this is only a convenient reply to placate customer. Have over $600 not showing We are in UK and booked under the current 3 October - 21 December offer.

Anyone else recently booked using this?

Just finished dinner in CC on the Star, specifically asked if they were open tomorrow morning for breakfast (disembarkation day). They are not open, only Amalfi dining room is open. It seems that the policy varies on different ships.

Same happened to us. We did two separate cruises on Crown this year, and on both occasions we were told that it was not open on disembarkation morning. Seems to not be a fleet wide policy. Two different Maitre Ds on both cruises.

The Club Class dining room is open for breakfast every morning (including disembarkation morning when the Sabbatini's or Crown Grill suite breakfast is not available) and for lunch on sea days.

Sorry, but we have been on two CC cruses and the CC restaurant was not open on disembarkation morning. Suite guests, however get in suite room service on that morning.

Thanks to everyone above for their replies. Cannot get any further info from Princess why this doesn't show in Cruise Personaliser, but they do confirm that it is showing ok on their system. Will just make sure I take the Princess booking confirmation when we go (we usually only take a screen print of our Personalizer Payments and Credits page).

This is not true, your TA can access your cruise personalizer through Polar Online. If they do not want to do that (for whatever reason), they can still view the breakdown of all your OBC thru Polar Online/Pricing Summary/View Onboard Credit.

Thanks for that. Have since been contacted by my T/A again and said that they have managed to access my cruise personalizer and obc for the recent offer is showing there and will appear on my invouce/booking confirmation from Princess which is due in next 7 days. Did wonder if this was an Android smart phone glitch doing this. As we are in UK possibly may be just Princess UK. She is going to keep it in diary to recheck.

Not to change the subject but I also found an obc missing. I received the FCC obc and also a promotional obc on a cruise I booked over a year ago. I transfered it to my ta before final payment. When I looked at my cruise personalizer a couple weeks later, the promotional obc was not there and it was not on the invoice from my ta. I called Princess and the lady told me that since I paid and received obc with my platinum AMEX, I lost the promotional obc. She said the two can not be used together. I have been paying for three or four cruises a year for the last 10 years or so and have always received them.

Is this something new?

 

OP, do you have other obc's that are not allowed to be combined together?

No. Only have DHs military credit on one cruise and paid by visa debit card. Other cruise have FCD credit and military credit which are credits that can be combined with any other obc, as over the past 20 years. Have not used any other ccards with benefits or points.

Made one with FCD and other with standard deposit. Will give them a couple of weeks to sort this out and then enquire again

We are long time cruisers with Princess. Yesterday we booked two cruises on Sapphire Princess ex Southampton 2018, because of the new offer for obc of $100 - $200 p.p according to cabin and length of cruise.

Our cruise personaliser is NOT showing this credit - despite previously showing this in all previous cruises. Our T/A cannot answer this as they cannot access customer's personalisers for security reasons.

Anyone else booked as from yesterday have this problem? We are in UK. TIA.

We have used Princess for many years to cruise the Caribbean. Why don't they offer the sip and sail to UK customers solely for these sailings. never seen a sip and sail offer on Princess UK website for any cruises

Probably for the same reason that we lose our deposit when we cancel no matter how long to final payment. Also, to get a fare drop we have to pay a £100 admin fee and we only get one drop.

Why do they do it - I would imagine because they find they can still fill their ships with UK passengers in spite of this

I am afraid we have to just grin and bear it. Saying that we do have two cruises booked for next year with the £1 p p deposit offer. So if there is a price drop, we can just cancel and rebook losing only £2.

Bearing in mind here in the UK we are never offered the sip and sail pass, the fact that Princess may consider increasing cruise price, would certainly impact on us.

1. Seems to have been a change of senior management over the last couple of weeks. We were on Crown in May and found no problems. Also embarking on Saturday, and an nor worried at all.

Yes the exchange rate plays a part in this. I might pay it in on the credit card account as there is nothing on the account we only use it on holidays. Off to the med on Saturday .

We are on board as well on Saturday and we have pre loaded our account with obc. We got a rate of $1.33 to the £ which is better than we can get on the zHigh Street. We always pre load the on board account if the rate is in our favour and it usually is.

Sounds like the £100 admin fee is from Princess, not the TA. UK booking rules apply.

Yes, the £100 admin fee is from Princess and applies to uk residents. We only get this one time price change with the Admin fee, and then we have to cancel and lose deposit and rebook.

Barcelona is another stop that Princess conveniently forget to mention in the patter that although there is a Princess paid shuttle into town, just outside the terminal door is the local port bus stop that charges about 25% of the cost of the Princess bus. Just make sure you have some euros available to purchase a ticket on the bus.

Makes a difference, especially if you are travelling as a family. Also taxis, that can be shared are available just outside.

If your parents have a full suite or a club class mini suite then only they can eat in the club class dining room. Unfortunately if your don't have either of these, then I am afraid you cannot join them. However, they can join you in the Anytime dining in the MDR or traditional dining if you all so wish. We were in club class dining in May and the hostess on the door of the club class entrance has a list of passengers eligible and they were very strict on who entered.
