  1. We received an email and so logged in to the cruise planner. Got all the way through the booking process but it kept failing on the last step. Phoned Celebrity and got 20% off the price to upgrade classic to premium. Paid £150pp for a 12 night cruise so it was like not having to pay the gratuity. We worked it out to be same as 20% off upgrading onboard (the largest discount we've experienced or heard off) or cheaper than get 12 days if upgrade for the price of 11.

Other friends didn't get the email or have the 20% discount banner in the website, so phoned Celebrity and managed to wrangle the same price.

  2. Sailing on the Eclipse soon. Does anyone know the number of people the largest table in the main dining room will seat? We are a group of 14 celebrating 2 big birthdays, and would like to all dine together on 1 night in the main dining room.

  3. We were in a Concierge cabin on the Eclipse directly under the oceanview cafe and never heard a sound from above. Of course, the area we were under was carpeted. If you are under the outdoor eating area, that might be completely different.

  4. We've sailed many times with Celebrity and usually have the classic drinks package. It has been our understanding that if you but a drink not included in the package (eg a martini from the Martini Bar) then you will be charged the FULL cost of the drink.

However, we today received the 2018/2019 sailings brochure which now includes on page 119 a description of the classic and premium drink packages and states on page 118 "Care for a drink not included in your package? Classic & Premium Package holders are welcome to enjoy any single serving drink not included in the package inclusions by paying the PRICE DIFFERENCE".

Has the policy changed as we thought this only applied to premium package holders?

  5. Returned last week from a 12 night Baltic cruise and since I had followed this topic avidly, thought it appropriate to report on what we saw in regards to what the men wore.

On chic nights (there were 3) we saw 1 or 2 tuxedos, a dozen or so suits with ties, many suits/jackets without ties, and many in dress pants/long sleeve collared shirts.

So the majority were dressed in what we'd wear out home here in London for a smart dinner.

As we were fans of the formal nights but didn't want to overdress, we wore dress pants/shirts on regular nights (as we always did), and suits without ties on the chic nights.

  6. Well Celebrity have now escalated it up at IT, especially after they saw the # disappear right in front of their eyes, and in fact the system didn't recognise the # at all! Told to wait a couple of weeks - luckily all the other info is entered and correct and the cruise is still some time away.

  7. When I attempt to complete the online checkin the system does not recognise my Captain's Club number and the lookup function also fails- even though I am accessing the checkin via My Celebrity.

I've contacted Celebrity who spoke to the Captain's Club who said there is an issue with their IT, managed to add the number which then disappeared again right in from of both my and the operator's eyes!

Anyone else having issues Celebrity recognising their Captain Club's #? Also, if it can't be entered before the cruise, can it be added at the port or onboard as I don't want to miss out on any of the onboard amenities my status deserves?

  8. Anyone else recently returned from their cruise to report back on what people actually wore on the Evening Chic nights?

My partner and I have always gone formal with tuxedos and will probably do the same, but don't want to stick out. Our next cruise will be a Scandinavian & Baltic cruise in May which we assume may a bit more formal than a Caribbean cruise or other similar warmer climate cruise. Thoughts anyone?

  9. Hi All,

My partner and I are booked on this cruise. It will be our 3rd Celebrity cruise and out 4th overall. We are both from New Zealand but currently living in London. We have been to Rome before as well as a Mykonos, Ephesus & Naples on a previous cruise. The other ports are new and we're interested in tours with other like minded cruisers. In Ephesus we are thinking of a hammam visit and the beach in Mykonos. And we are always up for a drink on-board and the Friends of Dorothy/GLBT drinks. If interested in chatting pre cruise then drop us a message.
