If double points comes back then that means the cruise industry is back in a hole.
If you look at last quarter's preformance the top three are deep in holes. Not sure who will emerge.

This is when it is helpful to live within a couple hours of a port - just book a 3-day between now and then.
Did this years ago. Booked 3 night cruise and got us to Diamond for our later booked 7 night cruise. Loved my very dark inside cabin which my DW refuses to sleep in due to claustrophobia. Really helped that port canaveral is 25 minutes from home. I walkd all over Coco Cay before it became the amusement park it now is. A bit strange cruising alone though.

Very difficult to change a $20 for ones at guest relations so you might be out of luck with $100.
That is interesting. I usually bring $10 in $1 bills and get the rest from guest services. never had a problem.
And to stay on topic. $1 per drink.

I am glad that you think so. Bringing $1’s for all of our tipping(when we don’t cruise less than 14 days at a time) is $140-1’s, that is a large stack to take on a plane.
bring $100 bill, get $1 at guest relations or the casino.

Even not having passengers on ships stopped covid. It is now part of our life. Testing also costs a lot of money and who is paying that cost? All these people taking "free" tests that are not free. TAXPAYERS!!!

That would be awful. Testing helps keep active COVID off the ships.
Active covid is on the ships. Testing clearly has not stopped it.

I tipped if someone brought me a drink. When I went to get a drink the pours were so stingy and some of the drinks were definitely not even close to the recipe (a buskwhacker with no rum). My only continous tip was in the wind jammer to the servers that brought me fresh squeezed OJ. I seriously had better drinks at the bionic bar a few days.

This will be the first time I’ve ordered the drink package.
it says I can only get one drink at a time. So it’s not possible for me to go to the bar and get a drink for myself and my wife? We would both need to go up at the same time?
It feels like there has to be a better way than that, especially since they require all adults in the room to get the package!
I always carry my wife's card and have never had a problem getting 2 drinks at once just having her card.

I do not know if there is a set time limit before you can re order. I can tell you I have ordered beer and a shot, both on my UDP at the same time. I don't know how they rung it up, but I never paid for anything.
I bet it was confusing ringing up a beer and a shot on the unlimited dining package 🙂

So if I don't purchase the drink package at initial booking, do they have better deals later or would it be the same? What about when we board? We got a good deal on a drink package the first day, many years ago. And this is our first MSC cruise, so I don't know what to expect.
We are going on the Divina soon. The base fare that included easy plus drinks and Wi-Fi around $300 p/p after our discount or $348 p/p without the loyalty discount. It is a 4 day cruise. To buy the easy plus drink package as an add-on is $196 p/p. Not sure how much the wi-fi add-on cost is.

When you say Tommy Bahama "button down shirt", do you mean a camp-style Hawaiian print shirt? Yep, that's what I wear all summer long. And they are perfect for cruising.
Yes. Just bought another one yesterday for our cruise today.

I gotta ask, how do you keep those linen pants wrinkle free in travel?? Love me some linen pants/shorts/shirts in hot weather.
I roll them before packing. I think it also helps they are black so the wrinkles are not as obvious.

READ ALL before responding.
Cruising tomorrow and every night you'll find me in some black linen pants and whatever Tommy Bahamas button down shirt I decide. Super comfortable and I like nice for my beautiful bride.
Used to care about clothing on formal nights as we dressed up, Tux and fancy gown, when slob came wearing whatever and had a hat on. Decided I cannot fix someone being a slob. And i'm talikng sloppy inappropriate clothes, baseball hats, etc. Don't GAF anymore. Be the biggest slob you can be. Not talking about people wearing nice, but not formal, clothes to dinner.
We don't get drressed up anymore. I would wear nicer shorts instead of linen pants but I don't really have anything but casual or gym shorts. My linen pants are super comfortable and go with all my Tommy shirts.

Drink package is a choice. It makes Royal money or they wouldn't offer it. Eventually they will reach a point that most people won't buy it and that may lower prices, but we've never found it to be worth it.
I know their bean counters are watching. We cruise tomorrow on Harmony and paid $71 for DBP and Internet for me and $17 for refresh package per day for my sife. We are diamond. My lovely wife might have 3 alcoholic drinks the whole 7 days. For her the DBp is never a good option. At $71 for DBP and Voom it was a good price. I actually considered cancelling but it would cost me more to drop DBP/internet and go with refresh/internet.
I will have two juices at breakfast. I will have 2-3 specialty coffees (can get them in diamond lounge as well). I will have an energy drink or 2 every day. I will have 4 or more waters every day. I drink at least 96 ounces of water every day. I am almost break even before I have my first alcoholic drink.
Our choice is easy at the price we paid thsi cruise. If Royal stops allowing just one of us to get the drink package or keeps this ridiculous rates this might be our last time buying DBP.

Laugh at me all you want, I'll be the guy dining in comfort while wearing my nice comfortable shorts. Don't look down though or you'll give yourself a hernia as your laughter escalates when you discover I'm also wearing gasp, flip flops.
You heathen! How dare thou? 🙂

We have taken on soda and water before and frankly it is a chore that I can do without. I’m on vacation and want to relax. Having the package helps me do that.
YEAH!!! What he said!!! Don't have to be falling down drunk to use the DBP to save money.

Discount is only if you sit and drink all day and night and get plastered each and every night.
No, not even close. The package is a great value if you take advantage of all it offers.
2 specialty coffees $10
2 fresh squeezed OJ $10.
2 bottles of water $8
2 sodas $6
2 beers by the pool $13
pre dinner wine $12
total $59
Not plastered, probably not even legally driunk. I can easily throw down 2 more waters and an energy drink before lunch making your comment completely false. The DBP is more than alcohol.

My second rule for hygiene while cruising is to never eat off of the floor in the MDR.
My first rule is to never refill my water bottle from the swimming pool, kiddie pool, or hot tub.
The hot tub is very sanitary. I've watched people sit in one for hours on end ordering drinks and never leave to empty their bladder. I'm sure you are safe to drink the water.

i heard MSC was also on the way out but not as far as Harmony.
MSC was still in the channel which is quite far from the hazard area. On Sunday when Harmony went into the hazard area other cruise ships left without issue. On Monday 5 ships left without going in the hazard area. It was only Harmony. the launch hazard area does not close the port to ships coming or going.

I have cruised from nearly all the cruise terminals at Port Canaveral. NONE are hard nor confusing nor complicated. drop off, parking and terminal entry real easy. I seriously don't know how someone can think this port is hard.

Bummer. Terminal 5 is the oldest of the terminals and a pain to use if you are driving in.
Port Canaveral is so easy to get to any terminal. SO EASY.

I’m thinking that Royal is looking for a way to stop the flow of money out. Since the pandemic, they have allowed refunds, they’ve paid Covid expenses- even private transportation, they’ve gone the last mile to incentivize people to return to cruising.
Now they have to save themselves, but it will come as a rude awakening to customers who have become accustomed to the free ride.
I think it is going to be a rude awakening to RCCL.

Well all I gotta say is Capt Johnny sure can pick the right weeks for vacation.
He was off the ship when the SpaceEx said they had to scrub launch due to a cruise ship.
To be fair there were two ships in the area.
Still good planning on Capt Johnny's favor
I was in the surveillance room. There was one ship in the hazard area and it was Harmony. Whatever else you heard is wrong.
