Still going through this nightmare. Still not resolved. Each cancellation has generated smaller newer FCCs and total confusion which Royal cannot figure out.

This may be my case!  I had a whole paid in full cruise that I should have a FCC for, and  I was just sent that my FCC is $164 .... um ?!?

  2. Posting here, but also have now emailed TA a third time asking they look into this - the specific TA that I used is no longer with the larger company that I can tell, so I am dealing with the general customer service  for the OTA.  I generally don't go through them to book but my first cruise was a group cruise I was joining a friend on and that is who was managing the group.  I went through the cancellation / rebook for all of the cruises with this OTA as it was just easier that way.

Like most, I have had several cruises cancelled since March of 2020.  I have had FCCs reissued so many times that I have lost count and on top I didn't always get an email with the certificate number and amount.  Should I have been more dilligient of course but here we are.

Has anyone had any luck calling RCCL or emailing / dm on social and ask if they can look up your FCC and give you your certificate numbers / amounts / expiry dates?  Even if these were issued under bookings you made with a TA?  Or is there another avenue to find this out?  I wish  they would just list them under your CA# online 🙂   Wishful thinking right

    Thanks in advance

Hi, hope you are having a wonderful cruise - I hope we get to go in a couple of weeks. You have beautifully made a couple of important points about masking and distancing. IRL, I’m a physician, but what I’m going to say is not personal medical advice, it’s just my experience.

Omicron has the R value of measles. That means that infectious particles can linger in enclosed spaces for up to about 2 hours, just floating around in the air. The smaller the space and the less the air exchange, the more likely it is that those particles could get to you. Another analogy I was taught is that if someone with measles goes into a party with 100 non-immune persons, stays for 30 minutes and walks around the room, 95 of those people will be infected with measles - says nothing about how sick they will or will not get.

The Martini Bar and the casino just give me the heebie jeebies, the theater, MDR and specialty restaurants a little less. The Solarium and Sunset Bar, depends how close to you the next person is. I wouldn’t sit in the Solarium for hours reading without my mask on. I would wander round until I found a lounger where I could sit with the outside breeze blowing into my face - there I would feel comfortable sitting unmasked for 15-20 minutes just to give myself a break.

We are scheduled for Silhouette on Jan 24, followed by Reflection, in order to make both of those cruises, we have to take extraordinary measures between now and when the second cruise sails.

The bar is very high, but the remedy isn’t rocket science, it is, as your post illustrates, just really hard to do consistently, day after day, and for many people wouldn’t be a vacation.

Best of luck with your cruising!   We isolated at home from Christmas until we left for Ft Lauderdale last week.  I will say with the reduced capacity there has been a lot of space in most places to distance properly.  My vacation experience really wasn’t too different aside from masking and the differences were actually positive since there were so few people 🤗

Has Celebrity been providing masks in the cabins on recent cruises? If provided in the cabin, how many and are they cloth or N95/KN95 masks? We were on the Apex b2b in November and no masks were provided in the cabin but they were handing out flimsy compliance masks when getting off in ports if the guests needed them.

There were two in my cabin but I didn’t open the package. Sadly they’re no packed in my bag so I can’t check.  I doubt they’re kN95 but the employees were all wearing those.

  5. Reading this and the replies made me realize that not everyone interprets the mask policy the same way, and also what actively eating / drinking means.

Example sitting at the martini bar and none of us are masked. I remove mine when I get my drink but I don’t put it back on in between sips. That’s how I’ve been doing it at home and didn’t even think that I may or should be masking between sips.  Same at dinner.  I’m generally actively eating and/or drinking in my mind but maybe between courses when I’m just drinking wine I should cover?  I don’t know but I would be willing to bet the infrequent masking seen at the lounges / restaurants could be due to differences in that interpretation.

That said I did notice the pretty much full on absence of masks in the theater and solarium.  However I myself walked through the solarium  maskless “forgetting” that it’s actually indoors.  I had it with me of course just forgot I was inside.

The mask policy was just put in place days before we sailed so could be staff is also adjusting to what the acceptable interpretation of the rules are.

  6. Hi All

We did get clarification from Royal Caribbean and want to alleviate any concerns about this promotion.

From our friends with Royal Caribbean International:

"Royal Caribbean is no longer running the Free Ship-ing ™ contest. Please know the previous site was ours and your email is not compromised."

If you are still itching for a deal, the team here at Cruise Critic put together a great round-up of The 2021 Black Friday Cruise Deals You Don't Want to Miss which includes Royal Caribbean's current promotions 🙂

I will be locking this thread to new posts to further prevent any confusion.

    Happy Holidays!

    ALERT MODERATORS!!!!!!

    CRUISE CRITIC MODERATORS

PLEASE CORRECT YOUR ARTICLE...LOL. YOU ARE SPREADING FALSE INFORMATION....WE WILL NEED TO GIVE YOU A WARNING AND YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO POST FUTURE ARTICLES UNTIL YOU CONFIRM>>>>>LOL

This is from the Holland America website (I do wish the cruise critic article was true, but alas....)

ALL guests will be required to wear a face mask – with no exceptions – in elevators and in designated indoor entertainment areas, all retail shops, and in the casino except when eating or drinking. Guests will also be required to wear face masks prior to being seated in our main dining rooms and in the buffet area, and occasionally in other designated areas where larger number of guests may congregate. As a reminder, masks are required during embark and debark in the terminal, and masks should also be worn during the debarkation process on board.

I let our editorial team know.  Thank you for having grace and patience with us 😉

@CC Help Jenn the cookies problem (or whatever the log in issue is) is getting worse and worse.  In the past few days, I have appeared to be logged in on CC, but in reality, I'm not.  I've had to clear the CC cookies repeatedly during a single day, especially on my iOS devices (but also in Chrome on Windows as well).   Often, I will open CC, appear to be logged on, see a number in the green circle on the notification bell, click on the number, but have the wheel spin around forever.  This is one clue that I am not really logged in, though the site says I am.  This morning, this happened on my iPhone.  I tried to log out, but got the error message and error code that you see below, which of course means I wasn't really logged in, and yet the notification ball indicates that CC thought I was.

I am not a tech expert, but there are CC members who are, and they have commented in this thread about the likely cause(s) of this problem, and have offered to provide info that would help solve it.   I do not understand why this continuing, frustrating problem has not been fixed in all this time.  (Indeed, I think it is getting worse.)   When things are bad, communication helps.  Can you please let us know what is going on here in the effort to solve this problem, and when we can expect this problem to be fixed?

    Thank you!

Unfortunately I do not have an update at this time.  I have been and will continue to share all of your findings with our team.  I will let you know when a fix is planned.

Likely the backend IT is outsourced.  The administrators are probably frustrated too. I don’t understand why only some have issues. Knock on wood but I have none of them. There is another thread here on iPad issues and have no issue using my iPad on Cruise Critic. I am quoting and replying to your post from an iPad.

equally as frustrated as I had to log in on my phone to reply!  My chrome browser is giving me fits today.

Unfortunately  there is not a fix in place yet, however once there is I will reply here to let you know
