  1. I have been a dedicated Celebrity cruisers for years but that is the only cruise line  I am familiar with.

We are considering cruising with Princess soon.

So, what is the name of the daily newspaper ?

Is it placed in your cabin nightly ?

Does anyone have a copy from any ship that cruised the Caribbean ?

    Thank You !

A few years back on a cruise I saw a man in shorts and a T-shirt refused entry to the restaurant on the first night.  He noted his suitcases had not yet been delivered.  The host tried to ignore him, and turned to me.  I pointed to shorts guy and said, "He was here first."  He and his family were then seated.

I ran into him several times thereafter.  His suitcase showed up on the last night of the cruise.  Another guest had received it and just kept it in their cabin. (Who knew cabins were so spacious?)  I believe his story was written up on one of the travel sites.

I'm old school, so I bring a blazer, but I think this debate ended when airlines started charging for luggage.  You had three groups.  The formal people, the casual people, and the people who would dress up but balked at paying $100 bucks for a extra suitcase to haul dress up stuff for one or two nights.  It is not like "An Affair to Remember" where the guests dressed to the nines every night.  And some folks, like us, have added extensions where baggage is further limited.

I had the same happen to me also.

I had not received my bags by 6:30 PM so I went to MDR in shorts and Asst. Maitre D turned me away, I tried to explain I had not received my bags, she wasn't hearing it.

Now, I cruise with slacks in carry on bags.

  3. IMO, I have been on many X cruises.

Dress code is NOT enforced, at all.

We have seen folks in MDR wearing shorts, flip flops, tank tops, etc, staff did nothing.

I think staff is afraid to confront people who break rules, seen it many times over and over.

  4. Thank you everyone who responded !

We were pretty sure it would be about the same as X.

On our last X cruise B2B in November, 2022, there were about 30 people and we all waited in the MDR, great breakfast and then we were all escorted through customs and back on ship, it took about 30 minutes !

  5. We are long time X cruisers and are considering HAL FOR NEXT CRUISE.

we noticed a lot of HAL cruises start in Fort Lauderdale, return to Fort Lauderdale and start agin for 2nd leg.

How does it work with those type of cruises when it returns ?

Do you leave ship and re-embark ?

    What is the procedure, Thanx.

  6. I don't want to get away from thread, sorry.

How much do you tip the porter ?

I have been told by other veteran cruisers that the norm is $5 per bag ?

We usually have 2 large suitcases and we give porter $20.

I know I will probably get flack from others, but, after many cruises have never lost bags.

Just another observation, I have seen porters at Miami, Tampa and Ft Lauderdale get upset or complain to other porters about low tips.

  7. I don't know if this happened to others.

On our last X cruise back in November, 2022 on the Constellation, we wanted so bad to get a burger at the Mast Grill, always good !

    Except this one.

Buns were very dry and falling apart and burger was so dry and tough, ver unappetizing.

We will try again on next cruise but definitely will try the I think its called the Garden Grill ?

  8. We are not seasoned cruisers, IMO.

We have been on only 3 cruise lines.

Of the 3, this is how we would rank them.

    1. Holland America

    2. Celebrity

    3. Carnival.

We have heard that Princess is very nice, comparable to X.

If NCL and Royal are like Carnival, we would never cruise with them.

    Just our personal decision.

  9. On our last X cruise we were given the option for 1 cleaning a day and we would get additional points if we agreed.

    So, we took the offer.

Our cabin attendant still serviced our cabin twice a day, at around 10 am and about 8-9 pm.

We brought this up our attendant and he was not aware of this.

    We still got points !

This is what we do and adjusting the time after we board has always worked out for us.

First things we do on embarkation is, drop bags in room, muster drill, lunch and make reservations in MDR, in that order.

  11. We sailed on the Silhouette back in November/Dec 2022.

There were plenty of photographers, a crew of about 5.

Times they were available around Happy Hour, dinner before, during and after dinner and around show time.

This was a fantastic group of photographers, I made friends with them !

Shout out to Felipe from Uruguay !!!

Where do you want to go?  they release different itineraries groups by destination at different times.  If  you are looking for north america that will probably be released in late spring or summer.  Caribbean won't be released probably until later this year since the 2023/2024 winter itineraries were only released in Feb of this year.

Thanx, we were looking at Nov/Dec 2024, Caribbean, Celebrity has their schedule out for that time frame posted already.

Where are you going? Many weeks ago, we booked a Transatlantic for November 2024.

If possible, you might try and correct the title of your question, because it says 2004, not 2024.

Sorry, typo, I meant 2024 going to the Caribbean.

Just over 2 months ago they released Europe 2024 and just a few days ago released Alaska 2024, so both of those run through to Sept/Oct/Nov 2024.  I would think it will be another couple of months before they release the late 2024 sailings as they will want to maximise bookings on the recently released sailings before announcing more.

Thanx, I should have specified Caribbean.
