  1. I got the latest offer for 50% off upgrades to beverage packages. I signed in to my account and no future cruise is showing up. I clicked from the email and it asked for the reservation number and such and I get "error message". I added my cruise reservation that had disappeared. After a few minutes it came back. I clicked on Manage Cruise. It disappeared again.

I also had purchased on my October TA cruise a "Future Cruise" certificate which gave me extra perks, OBC and only $100 deposits on cruises from May 2020 - April 2021. I have to decide before December 31st. I am now finding out that apparently European cruises in Spring 2021 will not be available as an option. I have been trying to narrow down my choices during certain months. This has been difficult.

There no longer sees to be a "favorite" button to save cruises you are interested in.

The "share" option only allows you to "share" a cruise by twitter or Facebook" (I am making a joint decision with another couple and would like to send them a list of cruises we like) OF course there is no easy way to do this.

Between all the IT issues, the limited cruise choices and the huge price increases, I may just walk away from the $200 deposit and look at other Cruise company options.

    Thanks C

  2. On the TA cruise I was on in October I purchased a "future cruise" that only required a $100 deposit pp. The parameters of the deal were that I had to select a cruise prior to December 31st of this year and the cruise I chose would be between May of 2020 and April of 2021. The only problem is Celebrity is still only showing one "Europe" cruise in 2021 that starts in Dubai. Will they release more cruises soon? According to their flyer Europe "loyalty marketing" for 2020 and 2021 should have come out yesterday.

I hope I have some choices in 2021 to choose from before the end of the year.

I believe it to be just another Marketing ploy to make us "FEEL SPECIAL".   From previous years they indicate there will be booking available for loyalty customers for a period of time prior to general release.    I played around and could see and book them while logged on or not, which makes be believe there is no programming behind the scenes to limit who can book once released.

Agreed, exactly my point. There doesn't seem to be any follow through from Celebrity on their "loyalty" promises.

  4. Supposedly, according to Celebrity's own brochures, today is the day Europe 2020 is supposed to come out for "Loyalty Marketing". I see they have cruises listed in their search  but nothing changes if I log in or not. I also received no announcements from Celebrity.

Also, there are no 2021 Europe cruises showing except Dubai

What do you think "Loyalty Marketing" means?

Does anyone know what time (Eastern) we should look for these new itineraries?

    Midnight tonight?

    9 am tomorrow?

Just an FYI/Question. The chart shows it opens for "loyalty marketing" on the 27th and the "Public Marketing" on the 29th. Will the cruises just show up on the Celebrity site tomorrow or will we get a link sent from Celebrity that is sent to all previous Celebrity cruisers? Or, is there a different level needed for "loyalty marketing"?

Are you certain that this noun, 'many', in your statement is accurate?

If accurate, how can this be an issue when there is an abundance of information available to implement designs and features? This along with other checks and balances in place so features are not created in a vacuum?

    bon voyage

I am really basing this on Celebrity's own advertising for the Edge. Most of the ads I've seed for the Edge they are promoting these non-cruise based designers who were instrumental in the design aspects of the ship. Obviously there is oversight by experienced cruise ship pros.

As I said, my observations were based on the photos and they may or may not be valid issues. (except the ability to swim laps in the Solarium pool. That seems evident from the pictures, and I still hope I'm wrong.)

Is there anything that you liked?

At the suggestion of a previous poster I watched the video from the daily mail. There are many gorgeous aspects of this ship. The things I pointed out are more potential issues with overall comfort and usability questions. I realize some of these may not be issues when you are on board and use these things. I would love to have someone point out things I mentioned that are being misinterpreted from the pictures.

I recently returned from my first Celebrity Cruise and loved it. Was it perfect? No. Will I take Celebrity again? Absolutely.

Why is this thread topic so negative compared to the others Edge Topics. Please explain ?

I started this topic based on my reactions to the pictures in USA Today. I didn't mean for it to be an exclusively negative topic. I'm sure there are many things that will wow people on the Edge. These were my reactions to some of the pictures I looked at. I'm also sure they may change things (like arm chairs at the martini bar) if they don't work like they expected.

There may be some comments about beautiful design. I think one issue that makes people more discerning with this ship is the inflated prices they are asking at this time to sail on the Edge. Those prices mean it has to be a better overall experience than one you have on other Celebrity ships.

One last comment. Many of the design features of this ship were designed by non-cruise people. That could be part of some of the issues.

The SR sizes you are referencing are in error. The Infinite Veranda SR you listed is for the Single Person IV SR. The standard Infinite Veranda SR is 202Sqft and 54Sqft balcony area.

So the Inifinite Veranda SR is quite a nice set up. Nicely sized SR and the Veranda and when the balcony section is closed, you have a 256Sqft SR all together.

    Den

You are correct. I deleted it when I realized my error but you caught it before I had a chance.

  10. I just checked out the new menu on the Edge. I would definitely NOT go back unless they dropped the price in half.

Why? Because I just checked out the new menu on the Edge. It doesn't compare to the original. Salad instead of Bouillabaisse?  Ravioli instead of Lobster?  Steak Frites instead of Filet Mignon?

    No comparison.

I am hoping that some of these photos do not really depict the ship accurately, as I was just a bit concerned with the quality of the photos too, as they did not "wow" me at all.  I will keep reading and enjoying information from VT's several cruises and her details, photos and thoughts until I cruise at the end of April.  Change is always difficult; however, those other ships may stay very popular, and Edge may be just what new cruisers want to have...

I was thinking the same. Then I looked at the layout of the cabins on the Celebrity site. I didn't realize that the infinite balcony was for ALL the balconies. When I looked at the layout you are shown when picking a cabin it looks as small as the pictures.

  12. We just did a TA on the Reflection. We ate at Murano twice, Tuscan and Lawn Club and Petite Chef. I had purchased the 4 night package so each only cost $32 extra pp. I thought they were all worth the up charge and enjoyed them all. I had watched the YouTube video of the experience so I knew what to expect. I didn't tell my wife anything before hand so she was surprised and delighted. My biggest surprise was the food. I actually enjoyed the meal more than all the others. (I liked them all). I had never had Bouillabaisse and was going to get Onion soup instead but decided to give it a shot even though I thought I wouldn't like Mussels. I was wrong, it was delicious. The steak was cooked perfectly and tender as could be. I liked the lobster even more than Murano's.

Would I go back? Maybe. Especially if they change the menu and show. It was a fun evening. (We shared with another couple we met on the ship and we had a great time)

I want to love this ship but from the pictures not so sure.  Lots of uncomfortable chairs, Martini Bar won’t be the same, closet space in the infinite veranda is a joke and forget about breakfast on the veranda.

I agree. I left out the closet with drawers in it to prevent you from hanging long dresses or pants. The "veranda" looks closed in and tiny. I guess if you really want to enjoy this ship get either a cheap inside room or a Suite.

  14. I posted this on the regular Celebrity page and was advised to put it here.

Here some of my first thoughts from these pictures of the Edge. I don't mean to have all negative comments but these are just observation of potential issues.

    1. I am disappointed in the size of the solarium pool. One thing I really enjoyed on the reflection was being able to swim Laps in the solarium pool. It doesn't look like the edge pool is big enough. Also,

    2. I don't like those arm chairs on the martini bar. A bar should have bar stools. I'm afraid with those armchairs no one will ever leave.

    3. The Baccio looks like it has less chairs than the reflection. There was already an issue on the reflection with finding a seat at certain times of day

    4. The infinite balcony looks closed in and doesn't look as big or as roomy as a Solstice class ship.

(If you click on the first picture it will take you to a slide show.)

When I think of quality, I think of the actual ingredients.

Yes, the dishes in them are supposed to be made to order, rather than in large vats in the back, but they start with the same food.  it isn't like they have separate steaks for some areas.  They get in large sides of beef and someone cuts them into steaks down below in many cases.  I watched them doing it on a tour a few years back.  They may reserve specific cuts for specific places, but that is as far as it goes.

    🙂

I am in the restaurant business. You can't just ignore the the use of "different cuts of meat" and think they are the same because they came from the same animal. You can't just ignore how a piece of meat is cooked. I'm sure you must understand the difference between a Rib Eye cooked to order  on an open fire and strip cooked in a salamander along with 50 other steaks. Or the difference if a meal that is seasoned individually with a special recipe by a talented chef vs one seasoned with a sauce from a pot used for 100 other meals.   I can start with the same lobster and make you one meal you will rave about and one you won't be able to eat.

The quality of food is not different, but there are fewer patrons, and a different menu.  The gratuity is supposed to be included.

I really disagree with this statement. We ate at Lawn Club, Tuscan, Quisine and Murano and found the food to be far superior to the MDR.  We were expecially surprised and pleased with the food in Le Petit Chef. I assumed that the main thing was the show. The food might have been the best of all four. We were happy with the quality of the food in the MDR however there is no substitute for food made more to order and in some cases table side at the Specialty restaurants.

  18. I assume you mean for two when you say 10K pricing even though I still consider it high. Here is what I am showing on the Celebrity website for the April 15th 18 night cruise from Sydney to Hawaii

    INSIDE$3,299 USD
    OCEAN VIEW$3,899 USD
    VERANDA$4,499 USD
    CONCIERGE CLASS$4,949 USD
    AQUACLASS$5,499 USD
    SUITES$8,699 USD
