  1. I grew up on them and learned my moms/nana’s recipe so i could make my own and freeze big batches at a time. They are a “pittsburgh thing” too hence the Pierogi races at PNC park baseball games 🤪
  2. Oh my! I love pierogies. Kinda like a ravioli but bigger with cheesy mashed potato filling. There’s tons of different fillings people do. I stick to the tried and true potato/cheese. Sautéed with onions or boiled with butter are typical preparations.
  3. Pork Belly Burnt Ends are started on the smoker. This is my first time trying this cut of meat and recipe so hopefully it turns out ok. Earlier today I made a batch of potato & cheese pierogies. 😋
  4. Well, the office is closed tomorrow for Juneteenth so i’ll take this as an opportunity to try a bourbon this evening and smoke some meat tomorrow. I think we are going to do Pork Belly Burnt Ends or maybe just the pork belly as is. Trying the Larceny Barrel Proof this evening. 🥃 cheers 😀
  5. I bought a case of BT for that reason a few months ago. I split it with friends and kept the rest to have on hand. Good one to keep around. Plus DW likes Trace so that’s all the reason I need to keep it on hand 😀
  6. This is a great point. I see online prices double and triple what msrp should be. For example I got a bottle of Blantons for $62 (out of pure luck) a couple weeks ago. I regularly see it for $160 online. Not worth that to me.
  7. I’m heading in the same direction myself. Running out of room to store everything. PA does run a lottery that’s easy enough to sign up for. Maybe i’ll get lucky in one of those with minimal effort.
  8. The hunt for certain allocated bottles is exhausting and frustrating especially in PA. State run liquor monopoly. Certain people have become privy to the delivery schedules and somehow get wind of rare bottle deliveries. Very common for 50 people to be lined up outside fine wine & good spirits stores 2 hours before they open on those delivery days. Often times there’s only a case or 2 which means half of them stood in line for nothing. I haven’t tried that Rabbit Hole Sherry finish. Adding to list 😳
  9. While i have some “everyday drinkers”, I too like to try different Bourbons. (note .. i do NOT drink whisky everyday for the record! 🤪) It has led to a decent collection of bottles. I believe I’m around 40 bottles at the moment. I enjoy trying them and hunting for ones I want to try.
  10. I know the feeling! We are at the point where we need to get rid of glassware if we intend to bring any new ones in. All the special glasses for different beers, drinks, tasting etc etc multiply quickly and we don’t even drink wine so those aren’t really included … although we have a few in case if company that drinks wine . options are endless 😆
  11. I was able to get get an order in directly from the distillery. Actually a father’s day deal. got the bundle …Straight and Uncut with a hat in a bundle shipped to me. I’m sure the state of PA wouldn’t be too happy, but it went through. 🤪
  12. Rare Breed is a solid go-to! I wish I could find anything by Peerless in my area but it just isn’t around. We will be in Louisville in August so I think I am going to try and grab some then.
  13. Happy Bourbon Day 🥃 😀 Having a bit of Woodford Reserve Double Oak this evening. I’ll have one for you Greg @Sea Dog Hope everything works out for you!
  14. It’s drama worked on me! Last week I remember stopping to look at it & it hobbled around and put its wings out. Looked like it was not well. I thought…this poor bird is gonna be dead soon. To my surprise it was still there today and thankfully somewhat protected now. I just hope people don’t act stupid and mess with it.
