  1. They advertise ferry every hour, but I am thinking some times they run every half hour as well. They just don't advertise it. I had the lady at the counter advise me of it running every half hour. I was concerned doing this trip on my own. But was so worth it. We took taxi on St John to Trunk Bay. Oh my a just beautiful beach with a snorkeling trail.

They are doing Hourly because of the Hurricane, once they get in better shape though out the islands, I'm sure they will be back to every half hour. We were there on Valentines day and I asked about it.

  2. I am debating on doing this on our own in May. I am on the Allure of the Seas and we are docked in Charlotte Amalie 10-7. I think the suggestion would be to get a taxi to Red Hook, and then get the ferry to Cruz Bay? Is that correct?

That is correct and Allure docks in Crown bay. Make sure you give your self one hour to get to red hook. They wait till taxi’s are filled before leaving. We waited an extra 10mins while sitting in the taxi. Mad the dock with 5 mins to spare.

  3. Is the parking lot next to the Sunset Bar the one that is closed from now until April? I was just looking up this info (We will be there with the Jewel of the Seas next week) and found a press release stating that the Maho Beach Parking lot just closed for construction and is not expected to reopen until April.

it was open on Feb 15rh, that’s where I parked.

  4. Just got back and rented with Hertz, we had a Jeep came to $105 includes all taxes and fees. They were cheaper the coastal. They had a 2 door also for $15 less. The roads are fine, drove to some tourist areas they are starting to open. Orient beach is going to take some time. Grand case had some lolo bbq places open. Sarafinas is gone, Mullet bay excellent and 3 larger planes landing at the airport.

  5. I would never do a ship tour of four hours to ast John. Total ripoff. Do it on your own, get off the ship as soon as possible and jump in a cab to Red Hook to have the longest day possible. I have heard from locals onnSt John that taxi drivers are telling people St John is a disaster and not to go there. Not true. Restaurants, bars, shops are open and ready. Go to Hawsnest or Trunk and leavecxomebtome for a drink or two back in Cruz Bay. I would be on the 3 PM ferry back for a 5:30 or 6 PM sailing.

    Temp py y sailing.

Agree, I wish they left the tour alone with 4 hours to tour St Johns, now we are doing it on our own. The ship tour use to be great, not anymore.

  6. I wonder if they very recently increased prices ? I was just looking at a PDF and martinis are $15....

Was the pdf for cruises out of Europe? I have been on Royal where they up the price to include the tip amount in their drinks, so they don’t see tips adds on the receipt on cruise fro Southampton.

  7. Made by Grandma no doubt in her own little kitchen. And of course it's real Kobe beef. They have Geisha Girls massaging the Texas cattle.

Boy it didn't take Celebrity long to consider the Constellation experiment a success huh?

Watch out, the homemade ice cream is next. $10 for two dips. (just a prediction not announced YET)

Wow I was just thinking is Ice cream the next item to charge for.

  8. Oh wow. I did not realize it was that sailing!:o We are also booked for that cruise, and I chose that date specifically because I saw the island in the itinerary. Now I'm concerned because anything could delay it. :(

    Yes pray for no hurricanes.

  9. I bit and put down a deposit. It will be a deluxe suite since it looks like they are the only ones that sleep five and family suites are sold out. I don't think the family suites are yacht club though. We have stayed in a junior suite on Anthem and I think this room will be about the same size so we should be ok. And because they matched my status on RCCL it dropped the price even more so an $800 difference. I asked them how they are making money and he laughed and said kids don't eat much but still! I can't wait, it looks like it will be amazing!

And just think you can save on drinks with the Yacht club, so that $800 you save now makes it a better saving as all drinks, soda, water through alcohol, etc will be included.

  10. I have to say if I saw a drone I'd report it and ask for it to be confiscated.

Using one I would point out is a clear breach of privacy and also security.

    Don't pack it!

No its not, and I will bring mine for the islands. If they need to hold it on sea days that is fine with me.

Privacy in your room and thats about it.

  11. Just checked MSC's site and the cost for 3 in a YC1 for the 12/22/18 sailing is now $7376. We're locked in at $3917. Yay!

That is great price you got for Christmas week. Someone screwed up this week at MSC and you did well.

Good to see all that booked are getting their confirmed booking rates. My November 3rd price stayed the same for YC1.

  12. From what I have been told, if you are in YC, and because you will be getting free drinks all over the ship, you only have to pay the difference between the basic beverage package and the premium/ultra(whatever the name is for the top shelf drink package), if you want to upgrade.

I hope this is true, I like a better vodka choice besides Absolute. I prefer Grey goose or Belvedere.

  13. Something else that I have noticed that I am curious about. I mentioned this earlier, but it appears that you can only book an Aft Suite if you have 4 guests. I have tried mock bookings on multiple dates using all different combinations of guests, tried different websites besides MSC. I wonder why they won't let you book one of those with only 2 or 3 guests. If you have 2 children that are basically free you can.

I found out today too from my TA, I asked him if he could get the room with only 2 people after I found out they were available if I did a mock booking for 4. Time to add 2 children to the booking, then no-show or cancel them at final payment and see if they allow us to keep the room.

  14. BosJoe ... The sizes on the deck plans are usually generic and show all the balcony cabins as the same size, although the cabin descriptions on the UK MSC site show Aurea Suites as 28 to 33 Sq Metres (possibly 28 for Deck 9 and 33 for the Aft suites)

Balconies are shown as 14 Sq Metres although the Forward Deck 9 balconies are larger than a standard one.

As for the rear Deck 9 Suites with the long balconies they will have a partial cover for shade which extends out from the ship while the rest of the balcony will be open.

As OG says people are paying for the longer balconies and many are not bothered by people looking down to where they are.

    Hi Sidari,

Thank you, I rather have a bigger room then the bigger balcony or both bigger room and balcony. The deck 9 suites are the basically the same room size without balcony as other balcony room. I don't know what the Suite title brings. Is the suite size worth $200pp for a bigger balcony on deck 9 no, but the aft balcony, yes. I am going to try and get the aft balcony which are available if you book for 4 people on the website.

  15. So I was looking at the Suites only availability on the dates I was interested in are on deck 9, not the 2 aft ones. SO the suites are basically the same size as the non-suites except for the bigger balcony? Is it really worth paying a premium just to have a bigger balcony where someone can look down on you?
