  1. I wish I could put my phone in the safe and forget about it for the length of the cruise, but as a small business owner I absolutely need to be connected and be available should anything arise back home. WIFI calling and texting comes with the VOOM package which is great, and I do like to check the CC boards while cruising!

But what if cell phones or the internet didn't exist? You would still be a small business owner, correct? You would give someone back home an emergency number of the cruise line to call if something were to arise, wouldn't you?

  2. OK, this is a question I think a lot of people would like to discuss! People now are connected 24x7 to the world. Be it social media or work. It's now too easy to be contacted but in some cases, that's a good thing. I see more and more people on cruises with their face buried in a smart phone or a tablet posting to Facebook, Instagram, or Snapchat. To me (maybe I'm getting old.. ugh) a cruise is a time to cut off contact from the world and enjoy a relaxing time in a lounge chair with a drink and letting the stress of your real life melt away for a precious few day.

My question is why do you get the WIFI package and what do you do with it?

I could not agree with you more. Humans & cell phones are becoming quite comical & sad. They're missing so much. People are so connected they are actually more disconnected. Many view life literally through their phone screen instead of their eyes. Having said that, social media addiction & social media withdraw is very real. Simply research social media addiction or withdraw. How did we ever get by, function & enjoy a cruise 20 years ago without a cell phone, a tablet, the internet??

  3. Hi folks,

What coffee do you ask for in the Main Dining Room that is the normal 'free' coffee? I can't see the point of paying for coffee when the free coffee tastes just as good :)

When in the main dining room & you would like a cup of complimentary coffee, simply request (a cup of coffee). You will receive a regular cup of complimentary coffee that is included with your cruise fare.

  4. Now we know what ObstructedView means. To consider the woman on the lounge chair "fluffy support" is an insult to her.

Glad to hear you don't call your human companion fluffy makes me feel better.

    Cru-Zin,

Oh gosh, I just got your reference. LOL!!

I thought, that you thought, that I posted the photo, hahaha!:')

Oh my, I just figured out what you meant, so sorry!

    I feel old now.

    ;)

  5. I wish Anthem didn't do 5 day cruises. 9 and 12 day cruises on Anthem are much better. Like night & day.

Did you reserve the 3 main shows in advance?

    'Spectra Cabaret' in 270.

'We Will Rock You' in the theater.

    'The Gift' in the theater.

Did you arrive at the shows 45 minutes prior to show start times?

Did you make reservations or use the stand by line for Northstar? RipCord? Escape Room?

Did you eat in Wonderland? Did you use the Seaplex? Bumper Cars, Rollerskating, Hot Dog stand, etc..

    Tip:

Next time you disembark a ship, use porter service, porters bypass the long lines at customs, they have a separate line at customs, and you are out of the terminal extremely fast.

5 days on Anthem is simply not enough. Passengers are rushing to cram in activities & shows.

  6. I’ve often wondered . . . If they can throw guests who misbehave in the “brig”, do they have a kennel/“brig” for furry passengers who break the rules? If smokers can be fined and charged a fee for extra cleaning, can dog owners be fined for extra clean up services when they pick their own deck to poop on?

    Yes, the fine is:

A passenger & their dog can be put off the ship. Passengers have to begin to speak up.

    Royal Caribbean Service Animals:

If the service dog's behavior creates a fundamental alteration or a direct threat to safety, the dog may be denied boarding 'or' removed from the ship along with the owner at the guest's expense.

    Examples include:

Growling, barking excessively, initiating unsolicited contact, biting other guests and/or crewmembers, failure to use designated relief areas, sitting on furniture, eating from the table, etc.

  7. You didn't want to spend hours (come on now, hours, LOL!) complaining to guest services to get something done about your mattress. And to make matters worse you had a wonderful stateroom steward that you really liked but didn't say anything to her????? She could've done things to assist you and it certainly would not have taken hours. Instead you wait until you are off the ship & complain here & to Royal over the phone.

What!!:') Oh my goodness. Yep, makes perfect sense, hahahahaha!!!:')

When you have an issue that requires attention, the time to have it handled properly is right then & there while ON THE SHIP.

  8. But as soon as the dog begins barking, jumping on people, pulling at the leash, etc. I know, as well as others, not a trained service dog …

on NOS now and an entitled buffoon walking around w his dog under his arm encouraging people to pet the dog. Not even one of those Amazon vests or pretending it’s a service dog. Got in an elevator w us and puts dog in my sons face. No thanks. Not sure who smelt worse the dog or the guy. Stay home w your “pets” not everyone thinks it’s cute. RCI really needs to get a backbone about this

If you know it's not a trained service dog & you witness or experience issues, do something about it. Passengers need to be more proactive. Get that fake service dog & owner put off the ship at the next port.

  9. Cafeteria food?? Give me a break. Its apparent many people here are in need of a vacation from cruising. If your food is luke warm, send it back! And the burgers, wow, does that burger really make or break your vacation. And the pizza complaints? LOL!! Try something new, maybe something you don't normally eat at home. Let your taste buds explore. Try something other than a burger or pizza. After all it's 'complementary' with your cruise fare. It's not 'Free' hahahahaha!:') You paid for that 'free' food. Maybe the complimentary food would taste better for many if eaten on a boat instead of a ship. Just ask Stewart your cabin steward to join you, he would appreciate some complimentary food that passengers get to enjoy/complain about.

    ;p

  10. One cannot make this stuff up...

    Wow!!

    :eek::mad::eek:

When did Royal start with having all these lifeguards by the pools? Poor people standing there all day even when no one is even close to go into the water. This is ridiculous.

Because of costs I trust 5 lifeguards on a ship means 5 waiters less on the pool decks..

But it is weird if someone is watching you swiming in a small pool with no children even close. The lifeguards are on duty all day even when it is freezing cold and wet.

But on Indy they even have a life guard at the Solarium Pool that is for 16+.

In most parts of the world you do not find lifeguards at most beaches and hotel pools. I have swum in open oceans and many places around the world. If there is a sign that says swim at own risk, no lifeguard on duty, parents watch your children the situation is clear and parents are responsible. Accidents happen and this is very sad. I am still irritated by all this lifeguards standing around all day but it‘s ok.

  11. I hope you are the only one who gets nasty about a fair question. Again, forget about the comment on waiters. That was wrong. But on Indy they even have a life guard at the Solarium Pool that is for 16+.

A fair question??? What??!! Oh my..... So in your mind, people 16+ do not require a lifeguard? People over the age of 16 cannot drown? A lifeguard is a waste on people 16 & older?????

    :eek::confused::mad:

  12. Whenever we travel with someone new we always arrange to meet at 10pm in the champagne bar on one night (lgbt meet there) and then don’t show up but observe from a distance the awkwardness as the straight people get talking to the gays.

Seriously!?! This is a borderline hate crime.

    I agree.... Wow!

It sounds like something Archie Bunker would do or say..

  13. No future plans for the Philly cruise port. Baltimore, Bayonne, N.J., and New York have become much more competitive, increasing the number of cruises they offer. Also mega-ships cannot get under the Delaware Memorial Bridge. And, also to consider is that the Philly port is 100 miles up the Delaware River & now it's a longer wait time for cruise ships to get to international waters so they can open up their casino's for gambling & open the shops.

  14. CruiserRick,

I fully understand where you are coming from when it comes to harmless innocent fun, gags & tomfoolery between one another in your group. A few replies to your post had some really good idea's. However, you just never know when the most (safe & innocent) of pranks will snowball out of control & escalate into something not intended at all. It's just not worth it. The cost of the cruise is thousands of dollars$$. It's just not worth it.
