In Atlanta, they need snow plows on the average of once every 1000 days. Combined with a major thoroughfare of 3 major interstate highways, over a 5.5 million people with very little public transportation means everyone drives, hence the gridlock and problems. We had 3 inches of snow and then ice with no salt or plows. It's similar to gridlock when hurricane warnings are posted, so please do not laugh.

  2. We've only cruised RCI so I can't compare for you. I can tell you that on our June Radiance cruise tour that Celebrity was in just about every port with us.

We have done just a cruise and now this year the cruise tour. I would definitely recommend the cruise tour because it gets you off the ship and up in to Alaska.

If you don't mind the planning, you could even do the land portion on your own for less money. But the cruise tour cant' be beat if you just want to show up & have everything already arranged for you.

There is a link to my trip report in my signature that will give you a ton of information about both Alaska cruising and the cruisetour we did. It is a long detailed review so if your not a reader, you could just look thru all the pictures at the scenery :)

I would recommend doing the land portion first and the cruise last so you will have some down days to rest on the sea days :)

If I can answer any specific questions not already answered in my report please feel free to ask.

    Hi

I read your review and was hooked! Thank you so much. On the Alaska Air Credit card, did the 99 companion fare work for starting from Vancouver and returning Anchorage?

  3. Just to relay my story, my husband left his suitcase outside of his car at the Port of Tampa. We called the port and they didn't have it and promised to call if it turned up. Just a bunch of dirty clothes and such, so no great loss. No call and I called back and they had it. Turns out all unattended bags have to go through security first and then it goes to lost baggage which caused the delay.

    Good Luck

  4. My husband and I book 2 cabins since we have 3 kids. I only see the normal amount of points per sailing on my account.

    For example:

    I booked a

Gs for me and my daughters and an inside for him and my son, on the same sailing, so I should see 21 points on my cruises account since we are married and linked in CandA?

  5. Just back from Freedom of Seas Cabin 6305. We were able to get anything we wanted from Ben & Jerry's. We weren't limited to just one scoop as others have mentioned. DH even got a banana split one night. Concierge Lounge was nice but usually very crowded. We only used it 2 nights for drinks and 2 mornings for breakfast and coffee. The cow motif afghan and rug have seen better days. The afghan that was spread across the window seat has a huge greasy nasty looking stain on it. I folded it up and put it away. The rug also has stains and was so out of place that it was a tripping hazard. DH had to pick up love seat and side table and sit them on bed to straightened out the rug. It was curled 1/2 way up the side of the window seat. What was really funny was he found the TV controller underneath the love seat when he picked it up. Wonder how long that had been missing! The noise from service area next door was horrible! It was worst some nights than others just as mentioned above- the last night. But also on our cruise the night before Halloween. The loud banging on the door was continuous for hours! They were decorating the Promenade for Halloween. We were glad to experience the "cow butt" cabin and its' perks but seriously doubt if we would reserve it again. I know most people say they would though. I like the Promenade cabins and have one booked for next year, but I really missed our Oceanview cabin this time. Will be happy to answer any specific questions about the cabin.

Can you tell me if you had Gold cards for the concierge lounge or did your normal key cards work? Thanks
