The activities are pretty much the same from ship to ship, so you should decide based on the ports, the cost and/or how far you have to travel. There are pluses and minuses for big ships vs small and new vs old.

Congrates! Did you manage to get the same room as it is a pita to move from one cabin to another on that morning.
But the "pita" goes well with hummus.

And the middle shelf slide out to give enough room for a water bottle.

Does Carnival now allow you to Bid for Upgrades the way that Royal and Norwegian do?
In 25 years of cruising with Carnival I have received emails and phone calls but never an opportunity to bid. You are offered a specific cabin or category for an increase in what you have paid or on which you have given a deposit.

Please don't take them to guest services or leave them on the ship. I want them to run out of them!
Carnival just announced that it will now charge $1 to punch a hole in a Sail & Sign card, but platinum and diamond guests will receive a $.50 discount.

If you have early or late seating in the dining room and you like the servers you can ask the maitre d' to assign you to a table for the second leg of your cruise with the same servers.

You won't be able to plug your hair dryer into the outlet in the bathroom.

The June 10 sailing was only the third sailing of the Sunrise from New York so they're still working out the kinks with boarding and debarkation and luggage.
There are 2 additional USB ports on the wall where the telephone is plugged in.
Besides the loss of space to sit on deck 5, there are now slot machines on both sides of the walkway, so there is more smoke to deal with.
The Sunrise will be doing mostly 4 & 5 day cruises but for the longer Journeys cruises there is a noticeable lack of shelf space in the cabins.

The casino for the Sensation is on the Promenade deck. There is a inside walkway on this deck (starboard side) that goes past the casino (the sweets shop and the promenade bar - Mirage). Smoking is allowed in the casino and at the Mirage bar area so while you can't completely avoid walking the past the smell, you can do things to avoid it.
But no - you do not have to walk through the casino to get anywhere on the ship. Take a look at the deck plan for the Promenade and you'll see it should be manageable if you want to avoid it.
Carnival's web site has a link for the deck plan of every ship which shows where the casino is and how you can avoid walking through or past it.

Hi there. Brand new to the boards.
I was just on the Carnival Sensation from Miami (4 day, Key West, Cozumel, Day at Sea). And yes, there are hair dryers in the room (they will either be in the closet or in one of the drawers. There is a plug at the top of the mirror in the bathroom (usually) to plug it in. I only note that because we only found one other plug in our room for doing stuff like charging electronics - so we used that bathroom plug for one of our phones each night.
Enjoy your upcoming cruise.
Most or all of the ships have a hair dryer in the top drawer of the desk/dressing table and it is already plugged in. The outlet in the bathrooms will only accomodate a shaver, not a hair dryer.

We had one in our Interior.

I returned ours to guest services. We don't do lanyards and we have never misplaced a Sail & Sign card.

We used SuperShuttle to go from EWR to the Manhattan Cruise port and then from the port to LGA. They service JFK as well and do not charge for tolls.

Cruising in August and we get in at 3:30. Not sure what we can do as excursions are limited and many of the ones offered are walking tours which is not good for some people in my group. Hoping maybe the casino opens up at 9 pm????
You could hand out rolls of paper towels to the hurricane victims.

It's $100 per cabin (not per guest, even if you both own 100 shares) for cruises of 7-13 days. It's $250 for 14 days or longer and $50 for less than 7 days.

There are fewer children on 14 day cruises, and fewer bachelor/bachelorette parties.

It does not have the Seafood Shack.

You're not reading it wrong. I've used my shareholder credit for gratuities several times and I expect it will be used for that purpose on my future cruises.
I believe this only applies to gratuities other than the standard daily amounts, like when you tip extra for a cocktail. On a 14 day cruise we only booked 1 excursion which was less than the $250 shareholder benefit, and the rest of the OBC was netted against the standard gratuities.

If your cabin steward gets the bag by 9 or 10 am you will probably get your laundry back the same day. On our last cruise there were no strawberries on the "chocolate delight" plate & they never ask us what night we want to have it delivered.

OK, good to know! The official itinerary is 4pm to 4pm, but if that was ship's time =/= local time, then it could have meant 5pm to 5pm, locally.
Still not long enough to do anything useful either day. Why couldn't they go just a little faster and get there at 9am, depart at 8pm next day, or something? I'd be OK skipping Grand Turk for an extra day in Bermuda!
Carnival also has some cruises which stay in Bermuda for 2 nights.

I think also the shareholders OBC credit can not be used for grats...
Yes, it can.

Yes, but only for a short time, in October:

And no, don't bring a coffee maker. I'm pretty sure appliances are not allowed.
Carnival stock
in Carnival Cruise Lines

After they receive it the OBC will appear in your cruise manager. And you can use it on every line which Carnival owns.
Note that the above schedule is for cruises through July because it has to be approved every year. But it was recently approved for another year. Here is the link:
http://www.carnivalcorp.com/phoenix.zhtml?c=140690&p=irol-sharebenefit
And remember that even if more than 1 person in your cabin owns 100 shares you only get 1 benefit.
