  1. Good Morning Everyone! We love cheesecake here, but I save it for special occasions as we don't need all the calories! When I was 15 I saw a recipe for it in the "Dear Abby" column of the newspaper and surprised the family with one, since they I have collected many different recipes for them and added my own special twists! My coworkers suggested if I was tired of being a nurse I could open a bakery of cheesecakes! Told them then it would be "work" not a fun treat to make! Thank you Roy @rafinmd for include my Dad in the care list. My son called today and he has tested positive for Covid, so far just mild sore throat. His wife and the Grands are negative. The hard thing is he has a big work conference that he is the head of for his company, so now he is scrambling to get others to cover and to do much of it remotely. Told him to make sure he rests, work will be there! I told Hubby I will need a cruise after this next week, going to be a "Camp Nurse" this week and temperatures will be ugly (it was 111 F here yesterday and even though camp is in the foothills they have been hitting 100!) I think I have plenty of sunscreen and have my sunhats ready! Everyone take care and have a wonderful week, I'll check in when I get back from camp! (will be "unplugged" while there) Denise
  2. Good Evening Everyone, Haven't posted for a while been busy care taking Dad. I was able to hire a former co worker who I worked with in ER to help spell me. His wife has now admitted to me, we may need to find an assisted living facility soon. I hate to do this but it is taking 2 people to walk Dad safely and take care of him. I worry that he will fall, or if he starts to fall he will cause his wife to fall and then we will have two injured folks. On a happier note oldest Grandson turned 18 today...............hard to believe it! We hope to take him and his cousin # 2 Grandson on a cruise for graduation next summer! Love seeing all the pictures of the different ports folks have gone too. Thank you for posting the different menus, sure has given me some suggestions to vary the meals here! I am excited to see kazu's Shadow is arriving. It will be interesting to hear about her adjustment. Take care everyone, I love coming here and reading about your adventures, the kindness everyone shows is so refreshing. Denise
  3. Good Morning Everyone! I am a country music fan, was listening to it last night while working on the computer. Poor Holly dog was curled up under the desk, with her head on my feet hiding from fireworks. The "booms" were so loud it even woke the chickens up, they started squawking after some went off nearby. I may have to sedate Holly this evening if things get worse, I guess last year she was only a pup and didn't seem to be bothered by them, but definitely is this year. We are not doing much this year, will BBQ something for hubby and son, but will keep it simple. Seems like lately been running to and from things, will be glad to have a "chill" day. Be safe out there, Happy 4th to all of you. Denise
  4. Good evening! What a wild week it has been so far, I just got caught up on the daily and saw Margarita the meal today! Hubby just made me a margarita, as we haven't had dinner yet.............this just may be dinner! Monday my teacher daughter had a scratchy throat and then coughed when she was here, I told her to go home and test! Sure enough she was positive for Covid. She had been achy and sore but contributed it to her rheumatoid arthritis, She said if she tested every time she was sore and achy, she wouldn't get anything else done! Then the Tuesday morning her son tested positive. They are improving but have been staying home so not to expose anyone else. The same evening # 2 daughters husband wasn't feeling well and he was positive too (the positives had not even seen each other!) My boss's sister passed away suddenly on Tuesday, so I have been filling in at work for her. I actually had worked with her sister (considered her a friend) for 20 years when I was at the ER, so it hit kinda hard knowing her at my previous job and then working for her sister at my "retirement" job, just shows you it is a small word. We have no symptoms and have planned to visit our son and family this weekend, but will test before we see them. I am so tired of playing Covid Dodgeball. We still have some cruise plans circulating in our minds, but haven't put any firm plans down. I did have some cruise certificates that I got the date extended until 2025, so I am not feeling so much pressure to get them used. Hope everyone is doing well. Denise
  5. Thank you for the heads up, mine were extended also! I had been trying to figure out when/how to use them. We want to cruise, but a couple kinks in the plans have happened with elderly parents and just not going this year. Now not so nervous, worrying about getting them "used" Will have a bit more time to make plans!
  6. I'll echo The Book of Lost Names! Thank you for asking for suggestions, I have added some to my list, and I noticed a few that I have already read!
  7. Dear Dailyites, Thank you all who contribute and share. This is my go to place everyday, even if I don't get through all the pages! I learn about travel ideas, find new recipes to try (surprise a skeptical Hubby to try new things!), all sorts of trivia and interesting information from others about where they live. I appreciate the sharing of others lives happy, good and bad times, it lets me know I am not the "only" one. Since I joined this site in 2020 it has allowed me to "travel" even while we stayed home! I feel like I have met some wonderful people that I would love to meet in person and have a cup of coffee and start visiting like old friends. Lets keep on sharing and caring, who know we may just meet in person somewhere down the road or sea! Denise
  8. Susan you will love the zipline in Icy Strait! I have been on it twice and would go again if I can get back to Icy Strait! After watching her video, I know what is on my to do next list! Denise
  9. Glad to see you doing another review. We sailed on the Breakaway from New Orleans in January 2019! Loved it. Then we took a last minute trip to Alaska on the Joy in July of 2019. (I had retired so we spoiled ourselves with a second cruise that year) We were making plans for another cruise the spring of 2020 and we know what happened then. We have plans for more cruises, but have put them on the back burner for the moment as Dad needs more care right now. I enjoy following your travels. Have a great cruise, post lots of pictures! Denise
