  1. If you manage at all to take both.  Hubby used both a knee scooter and crutches during his long recovery.  He was actually more stable on the scooter!  The crutches were more for standby in tight areas.  The scooter was easy for me to lift in and out of the vehicles.  If we were headed on the cruise, with an injury like this, would definitely take both!  Good Luck.

  2. We have stayed at the Blue Horizon 2 different times prior to cruises.  I would highly recommend it.  Older facility but rooms have been re done and are very nice.  I didn't find the noise to be a problem (heard some city traffic noise, but wasn't enough to bother us)  Nice restaurant for breakfast in the hotel.  We ate dinner at a nearby restaurant that was easily walk able.  Room was $ 210.00  for a room with king size bed in May 2017.  When we cruise again out of Vancouver we will stay there again.

  3. Thank you for posting! It has been helpful in making a list of what we would like to see when we are pre cruise in NO this January! So much to see, so little time! I realize we will have to pick some favorites for this trip and return another time for more! Your pictures and commentary have helped!

  4. I love all these suggestions................I too have my list started for a January cruise. Hard to think what we will need when traveling from cold, snow and ice to sun! We took a last minute trip this weekend and were going out on Puget sound in a boat leaving from our 106 degree weather in Eastern Washington........................and we had to go to Walmart when we arrived................we had forgotten jackets! Thank goodness we found windbreakers at Walmart as it was chilly out on the boat! Was just a reminder of why I am compulsive about a list before the cruise!!

  5. Well no more waffling! Retiring from the ER February 2, 2018!! But will be working an "as needed" position with an out patient program:D. Enough to keep me in a "spending funds" with a lot less wear and tear from 12 hour shifts in the ER. Its been a good run, but ready to slow down a bit:D

Well I returned from our "retirement cruise" and the "as needed" position turned into a regular part time position with benefits! Boss called me 2 days after return from cruise, I work from 9-3 Monday to Friday, Holidays off and a flexible "if you need to take some days off we can arrange it" Only caveat was no time off in July! So for now I am continuing to work, but if this position "stops being fun" I will re-retire!:D

  6. Well I am waffling...................may be end of January 2018, unless I get a transfer to another department! If I get the transfer I am in for 3 more years! If no transfer.........................end of January!

  7. We have been 6 times and would gladly go again. The first year was the problem..........our first cruise was so much fun it created a "Monster";p Now we have developed a bad habit! The second we took to see if was still enjoyable and it was. We followed up # 3 with Mom and # 4 with Dad and his wife. # 5 & 6 were the longer 8-10 day May cruises. We have varied the itinerary and have done different things.

Cruising to Alaska works well for us as we live in Washington and it is easy enough for us to drive to Seattle or Vancouver the day before. We have had limited time off from the jobs, but could squeeze the 10 days from home to port and back, so we have tended to repeat cruising to Alaska! When we retire we will branch out to other areas, but once I retire I will keep an eye for a "last minute deal" and will return to Alaska, only takes a few minutes to pack my bag!:D

  8. We rented a car from Avis and drove from Skagway, to Whitehorse and back. Stopped many times and took pictures and enjoyed the scenery. We saw quite a large group of mountain goats. We went in May and still had quite a bit of ice on Emerald Lake. I had also printed off Murrays Guide for our trip. There were small places we could have stopped to eat, but chose to just stop and purchase a soda and off we went. Border crossing was a breeze but could be a pain if behind a bus! (I think only one car ahead of us when we drove up, none on the way back) We enjoyed the trip, got to see an area neither of us had been before!

  9. Our first cruise on the NCL Pearl in 2008 was so great we developed a bad habit......................now we want to cruise all the time. Our other cruises have been great, but that first one has been the best! But anymore any cruise to me can't be a bad cruise because I am cruising! We are off again in 17 days and can't wait!
