  1. We like to get two cabins if we can. 1 balcony and then an inside directly across for kids. It's worked really well. But 4 can certainly be done in one!

We love the San Juan itinerary so much we did it twice in one year. There is so much to choose from the kids get a wide variety of activities. I don't think you can go wrong with that cruise! I think it is the Valor that's there now? We love that ship.

We did the Breeze recently and it was good. I guess there was more to do in a way but more people. We enjoyed the theater and mini golf. I didn't care for the arcade as it was all about points and dinky prizes and we didn't have much control over what the kids would spend there (or maybe we didn't figure it out). Older arcades we bought tokens for them and when they ran out, so be it! Your boys are older so that may not even be a place they want to hang out. My 11 yr old loves the arcade and trying to win a $10 toy no matter the cost (But mom - there's ONLY TWO LEFT OMG).

We did walkie talkies one year and it was ok. Now we let them go with designated times and meeting places and definitive places they can go. But that all gets relaxed a couple of days in. You soon find out there are only so many places kids go and they are easier to find than you would think.

  2. Our Steward on the Valor was nearly invisible. I found it somewhat amazing. We saw him once on the first day for a brief minute.

Other cruises however we've had near relationships with our steward and their assistants (for lack of a better title). Especially on the Victory. We enjoy meeting our steward and having them greet us by name in the hallways. I'd miss that part now that I've experienced it.

  3. I found Stingray Sailing. While they do go to Stingray City, they limit the number of guests. Second stop is for snorkeling and then they sail back. From pics on Trip Advisor it looks relaxing and like they serve beer for a small fee.

Still searching though. We sail in 3 weeks.

  4. We're looking at the same two ships. I was sold on the Glory last year but didn't realize she was a sister to Conquest. We've been on the sister ship Valor which we enjoyed a lot.

I'm scared of the new menus but a little tired of the old ones. So maybe that's a factor for us. As long as there is prime rib and lobster a couple of times we're pretty happy.

Subscribing as well to see if anyone has suggestions.

  5. I've searched and searched and can't seem to find a solid answer. Does anyone know if the Breeze stays on Miami time or does it adjust for ports? I'm trying to book our excursions, well I have them booked, but checking times, Aruba for example is an hour off from Miami.

Is there anyone that's been on the Breeze recently that might know this? We always keep our watches on ship time but this is the first time I can't quite figure out how off the ship will be from the ports. (Aruba, Curacao, DR).

    Thanks!

  6. We've got the trikes booked for next week when we are on the Breeze. I can't figure out though if Breeze's ship time matches Aruba. does anyone know? I've got a nagging feeling we will be docking the same time we're supposed to be at the trikes (9:00 am). Breeze is in at 8 am but I don't know if that is Aruba time or Miami time.

  7. Welcome!

For Mahagony Bay - check out Victor Bodden Tours. You get your own driver and they'll do whatever you want for the day. Great way to see the island and they can take you to Victor's estate where you can zip line and see his monkeys. We loved it!

Cozumel has so much to do, it is hard to pick. We've done the dune buggies thru carnival with beach time, snorkeling and some sight seeing. It was a blast.

Costa Maya - we haven't been there but there are some nice All Inclusive places you can go and relax at. We were originally going there but switched cruises last minute.

There is a section of this forum that is divided up for each ports of call. You can get a ton of info in each one of those.

Have fun!! Our family loves holiday cruising.

  8. Actually a fair question. I would guess it does not because you can buy bottles of wine for 25% off, right? How would the calculate that against the per diem drink max.

We're considering the Cheers program. don't think we'd use it well some days but sea days and embarkation - might pay for it overall?

  9. Depends on the port and how much work the porters do for us. We average around $2 per bag.

We tip our Steward an extra $20-40 depending. Same with waiter. Holiday cruises a bit more. We also tip heavily in the casino on holidays. It is always VERY much appreciated. I find almost any tips early on do get you more and better service throughout and get you remembered. We did the same cruise 6 months a part and on the 2nd round, many waiters, dealers and others remembered us. You don't have to wait until the end of a cruise to tip!

  10. We're there too. I'm really sad there isn't more to do on such a beautiful island. Understandable but I'm really hoping to find some sort of tour and get to see some sites. None of the Carnival excursions seem all that appealing.
