  1. we've done both and prefer the Freedom and smaller ships. The Breeze is beautiful and HUGE. Freedom was more comfortable for us. We also love Alchemy bars which if I remember, correctly the Breeze does not have. Breeze does have lots of additional activities but long lines for nearly everything come with that.

Either way, you can go wrong. All ships are good ships. It really comes down to personal preference. Enjoy!

  2. We purchased about a month ago to try out the OBC and have seen it rise $2.50 or so since then. For us it will be a long term hold as well as cruising is our thing. But should we want to sell today, we'd have about $300 from the stock plus the OBC we've booked.

I've read where people by, book the OBC and then sell, so there is that option too.

  3. We've done the Carnival excursion with Rays & Rum Point. We did it just to go to Rum Point. It is beautiful. The hammocks are great. Service is so-so. They seem irritated but then again they try and serve a lot of people in a short time. I wish we'd had longer than 2 hours there. It was just enough time to get lunch, two drinks, swing in a hammock and head back. There's so much more there.

We found the food prices to be high. But all of GC is and it isn't any more expensive than restaurants near port. We did spend well over $100 for 3 to eat lunch and my son just had a hot dog and fries - so budget for that!

I'd do it again. Have fun!

  4. I get FTTF mostly for the room being ready since we tend to unfortunately bring work / electronics with us. Not fun to lug around. We have had a few occasions where the room was ready by noon. Others where the room wasn't ready until 2. It is nice to get luggage early but not a deal breaker for us. We do like unpacking before sail away if at all possible.

As far as priority debarkation - on our last cruise is was worthless. Self Assist went off and we waited for a long time in a room with no water or anything. And then when it was our turn, we ended up just being in the middle of a mass exodus. We'll be doing self assist from here on out... always.

As far as the conspiracy theory, Carnival, as well as most other vacation type businesses try extremely hard to provide value and great experiences because they know an enormous amount of revenue is based on repeat business. I highly doubt they'd do anything so dramatic to encourage a few more FTTF sales. That's ridiculous.

  5. Yes agreed. 5 minutes. However every single time I've ordered a shot and a beer chaser, they just ring my card twice. Every single waiter / bartender has done that for me without issue. They even offer it sometimes. We've had waiters just memorize our folio numbers and all we have to do is waive from across a room and we suddenly have four drinks. :)

  6. I'm so sorry to hear that!

I have been able to transfer future cruise credits to another name. I had to take my adult son off a cruise and I reused it for myself at a later date. I know it isn't the answer you want but maybe you and your husband can find a way to enjoy a cruise yourselves.

  7. We found that waiters loved us once they saw the cheers sticker. We've done it twice and never, ever waited that long for service. Had several waiters that 'claimed us' and made sure we stayed full. We tipped $1 extra every now and then but when I asked them, they said that cheers guaranteed tips basically and they liked it. Had a couple of waiters that said they weren't sure how it worked but didn't care. Had a couple of bartenders (Alchemy) that could have cared less because they love their job and also said they would not charge for any drink we hated.

  8. We stayed after a cruise once. They didn't let us check in until 4:30 pm which was rough but otherwise we enjoyed it. The pool is gorgeous. Beach area is nice. It is a resort so yes, prices are a bit high. Our room was a 1 bedroom. Very nice. Very clean. Loved it.

  9. Belize I'd skip although those waters are BEAUTIFUL. there is an excursion that can take you right off the boat to an island to snorkel. Had a friend that did it and enjoyed it very much.

ROATAN!!!! One of our favorites. This island has so much to offer. Our current favorite is Little French Key. What a day! Paradise!

Jamaica - IMO you have to be a little adventurous here. We did the Blue Hole on a last minute whim. This is jumping off a waterfall (bucket list kind of thing) and in hind sight not something I'd tell loved ones to do but so so so very glad we did it. The tubing is a blast.

Grand Cayman - if you haven't been there before, Stingray city is gorgeous and a must do. But more than once... well we were there for the 3rd time and stayed on ship. Not a bad thing having a boat to yourself!

  10. We've done tons of tenders and never ONCE have they checked our tickets for Carnival excursions. We are given a time to show up in the theater and then ushered out in the order we showed up.

We've done Belize without an excursion and I don't recall waiting much at all. Those tenders haul butt. Not like Grand Cayman where they take forever. It is a good 15-20 minute ride though.
