  1. Taxi for 2 people from Philipsburg to Maho Beach will be in the $18-$20 range. Three or more people in a taxi is $7-$9 pp. one way. Plenty of taxis at Maho to take you back to the pier or into town.

You can also take a bus for $2 pp that you can catch on Back St. which runs parallel to Front St. The bus will take approx. an hour or less to get to Maho from Philipsburg. The license plate will indicate *BUS* and a sign in their window states, Maho.

I am going to assume that those same $2 buses are taking people back to town. Also, do you know if they would drop off next door to Mullete beach?

  2. Correction: Debarkation

Most of us feel some kind of way the last day/night of our cruise. It feels like such a let down. Was wondering if anyone has any suggestions or practice that makes this transition better (besides a back to back - lol)

  3. Welcome home! I'll be on the Splendor next week. Who was the cruise director? Did you catch any of the shows? Did you bring home any of the Fun Times that you might post?

If you look on current thread, you will see that someone just posted fun times for Splendor.

  4. Oh I just loved your review. I will be on Splendor in 3 weeks.

1- Do you remember if the head to toes spa treatment for $89 was on the 1st sea day or embarkation day. Also, I was thinking about purchasing the spas. Did they use it often and felt it was worth the $.

2- Are there shaded areas on Grand Turks and HMC. (I can't tolerate direct sun) and if not so much, are loungers/umbrellas for sale.

I have been looking for current splendor fun times and now have a sneak peek so I can start planning on some of my activities. Thank you so much for taking the time to post.

  5. What a great thread. My prayers and heart goes out to all who have shared about the loss of their loved ones and how they impact their cruise experience . I will be going on a cruise next month alone to just get away and while am not grieving the loss of a loved one, I am taking this opportunity to let go and let God over some things that have been so painful to deal with this year. Grieving can be about area of your life: people, things, issues and just life adjustments in general. I love the ocean and when I get into the water, I feel a peace and that it washes away some things I have to let go of. It is sort of a "spiritual" cleansing and I am better for it.

  6. I know I missed something, like what ship you are on, because portholes are considered interiors, and they provide the natural light I fear you think you will miss. Put me in a dark room and I will sleep. Put me in a porthole and I am fine. It is the natural light that affects us. The tv could work, too bad they didn't have that on our last cruise. Or since my DH was in control of the tv he just missed that one:rolleyes:

I bring battery operated candles and put them in the bathroom, battery operated fan goes on one of the night stands.

Why do ships not like you to have your shades open at night? Do they think the giant squids will attack? If they don't want to invite terrorists, they should turn off those tacky bulbs that decorate the top of the Fantasy class. I would love to be able to see stars at night when I look up.

Actually there were two interiors (with porthole) available but it was totally at the front on 6th and 7th floors. I was told that it would be extremely noisy with staff working and engine when heading to and leaving ports. I also suffer from motion sickness and was advised to select midship which is what I did on deck 7.

  7. Yes my TA only charges 50 dollars more for a Ocean View. I feel it is well worth it. I feel safer in a room with a window since I travel Solo. I know that is not rational. :)

Traveling solo and the upcharge for a OV is $200 because I have a technically free cruise (through Casino promotion). Want to use any extra $ for spa. I have some great tips and I think will be ok.

  8. I also like the fact that with no windows, etc..there's no light coming in to wake me up too early if I've been out too late.

Have to agree love the dark room for a nap whenever I want and also use the TV for the window on the world. You save so much and give up very little

Any day on a ship (interior room or not) is better than a day on land

    :D:D:D:D:D

    Amen to that

  9. I find inside cabins to be a bit difficult when getting up to start my day. It takes a while to get going because you don't visually know it is morning and also type of room can make you feel a bit closed in. I have for the last 9 cruises booked OV for that reason, however I will be once again cruising in an inside cabin soon.

If you have experienced the same problem with inside cabins, have you come up with some ideas /solutions on how to make room feel/seem a bit less closed in or have indication that it is morning?
