  1. I was checking to see if the price of my stateroom went down with the latest greatest RCI “sale”. I noticed that a hump room became available. I’m sailing on the Freedom. It is JS 9638. I did some research and found out it’s below a royal suite with a piano, which can be heard quite clearly. I won’t mind it at all if they play well[emoji4]. Should I move my room?

  2. RCI stopped providing fans a couple of years ago. I do bring a small portable fan, because I also have a difficult time sleeping without one. I packed it in my carry on the first time, so it wouldn’t hold up my large luggage from being delivered if it wasn’t allowed. Since then I’ve always packed it in my checked bag. I’ve never had an issue.

We just got off Freedom three weeks ago. We booked three rooms and two of us asked for a fan. We both got one.

  3. We were on the 2-25 sailing and we were extremely happy with the MDR. We had our cheese rolls every night [emoji4]. Our waiter was Cris Polo and he was fabulous!! Drink service was excellent also. Food was very good and plenty. Head waiter stopped by our table every night. She was very fun and pleasant. I would definitely not spend money in a specialty restaurant. I would not have missed a night with this amazing MDR team.

  4. WOW.... things have really changed in the last few years if they allow shorts in the dining room for dinner.

I definitely want dinners to be special (which is why I bought my teenage daughters - who HATE dresses - dresses and told them they will be required to wear them)... I want us to dress up for formal nights - to me that's a huge part of what makes cruising fun! (totally agree with the McDonald's comment) I just didn't want to force my husband into a tie every single night or spend a fortune on a FULL suit unless that was expected.

    Thanks for the input :D

We like to dress up for dinner. My husband rents a tux from the ship so he doesn’t have to pack a suit. I wear an evening gown on formal nights. We just took four kids from 20-26 with us on a cruise. They all dressed up every night and actually really enjoyed dinner. I wore a dress every night for dinner. I know people say they don’t like to dress up on vacation. Then don’t go the the MDR. Why does the ship need to stop enforcing their dress code for them? They have other options.

  5. I booked a cruise yesterday. I got my email document to confirm it. However, it was not the room I had actually booked. So I called them back. I was told the room I had actually booked was tied up in the system. He said the room is available I just need to wait for it. I said. Ok I’ll wait. After several minutes I was told that as soon as my room was released I would get it, that the system would automatically assign the room to me and I would get an email with a new confirmation. So today I get an email saying your waitlisted room is now available here are your new documents. Only it’s not the room I had originally booked. This is upsetting because the JR suites that are left are definitely not in a desirable area. Not worth the money. It’s the room I didn’t want still on my reservation. So I go to look online. My dashboard says I have no past or present sailing dates. Actually, I have 77 cruise points. It said I am pre-gold status. And of course I have nothing booked. So I call them. On hold for 38 minutes and Dominic answers and promptly disconnects the line. So, I’m back on hold and I know this isn’t going to end well......

  6. We love cruising with some very close friends who live 8 hours away. This year we booked a cruise that coincided with our daughter’s spring break so she could be with us. Our friends were going to go with us but she could not get those dates off. She just got back from her cruise and we are about to go on ours. We did a lot of instant messaging while she was cruising [emoji4]. Sometimes things just don’t work out. I would not pay $1,200 to make the change. But that’s just me. Especially, you live near them.

  7. Last year we were seated with a young couple. She had just turned 29 (our sons age) and he was 34. We are both 56. So I guess we are the old couple. We had a blast with them all week at the shows, dancing and excursions. We are all very good friends now and have stayed in close touch. We are planning on going to their wedding. Please don’t pre-judge. You never know who may turn out to be a new friend for life!
