1. Isn't it funny how a thread from 6 years ago is back, but here is my take!

My trick now is too avoid black luggage like the plague.

I do have a 16 year old upright Samsonite EZ cart, the first version with shelves etc. so although it is black there are not any like it out there, I love it to death. I actually have 2 and cannot bear to part with them. I stick a scarf around the handles and have unique tags on them just in case.

As I mentioned above, I try to avoid black luggage now and I have just bought an extra 3 cases this month whilst on a trip to UK, I had a lot of shopping!!!!! I bought a generic make hard shell spinner powder blue set with lovely flowers on them, sounds horrendous but they are nice so I don't have to worry about those too much and I then bought a Roncato in cerise so again not too many around this end.

Just remembered last month before I left for UK, I also bought a purple Atlantic spinner and a Delsey roll on in cerise for a convention trip by car, so hopefully won't lose those either but more scarfs required!

I also have I-Trak on every piece of luggage and valuables I own when travelling. I had something returned to me I left in a loo at MCO 12 years ago and I have never looked back when it comes to renewing it. The labels should prevent folks from taking the wrong suitcase but at least there is an easy POC if it does go home to the wrong house!

Oh just remembered I have a tartan suitcase cover too, not used it yet! It's a kilt with a sporran in blackwatch tartan, not classy but won't be too many of those around, lol!

  2. I use Moroccan oil dry shampoo or Batiste regularly as I have waist length thick hair that I can't always wash when I am travelling. However I was in Big Lots last weekend and they had these travel size cans at 0.75 cents, it was 20% off day so 0.60 cents so grabbed a few can't remember the make, nothing special but handy to throw in the bag, I would imagine they would still have them.

  3. I like dark colours also and struggle in summer to go bright, I currently have a Shellac hot pink on my nails which I hate and Shellac orange on my toes as experimenting with brighter colours for next cruise but I will probably go dark in the end, with same colour on both finger and toe nails! It's OK for me as I have all this to hand in my business so can try lots of the colours at not too much expense, just the time!

Orange/hot pinks look good with a tan but I just don't love them personally. However many of my clients love them behind the various reds which I am not keen on either. In your case I would match to the swimsuits as you will have those on more than the formal dress.

CND Shellac have some lovely dark colours, dark lava, dark dahlia, black cherry sort of shades, and rock royalty which is a rich darkish purple but you might not have a tech in your town that does it.

Another option is nail appliques/wraps and you don't need to have them professionally done if you have a bit of patience/time and you can change your look easily as the majority peel/soak off. Minx and Dashing Diva are more pro but there are literally thousands of different ones out there. Don't go for something really cheap as it will just peel off. Downside is unless it is a professional product it will probably peel off if in the pool/sea too much but for one night you could put it on top of your other pedicure colour and then just peel it off in the morning.

It's too late for me to look out pictures tonight but if I remember I will do it this weekend.

  4. Pre cruise nails . I thought about getting purple this time and then pink for my cruise in a month time. Picked out a purple and then got told it was colour changing. As I didn’t like the other purples I was like yeah why not. But it changes to pink. Now that I have pink already am trying to decide if I will get plain pink for my cruise get the same one again or go for another colour or another colour changing one , mmmm. Either way I am happy with my current shellac nails.

I am confused:D, are you saying your current shellac shade, the one pictured above changes color, or have I misread and it is another make?

  5.
AWESoME comp! Thanks for posting.

One of the main reasons we sail Celebrity is AQ class and the balcony furniture. Yes, that's how we pick a cruise - balcony furniture.

We haven't been back to NCL since 2005 - been X ever since. We're tempted by Gem and Breakaway, which are two completely different ships, but they both sail out of NYC. I looked at the balconies on Breakaway and read the reviews and decided, nope, balconies are too small, as you said, teeny tiny.

Cafe Al BAcio can't sail without the starbucks of the sea for my DH. Another reason we can't sail any other cruise line!

You got me with the food thing...:D

Enjoy your Disney Cruise - Disney knows how to treat children of ALL ages. DH and I were seriously considering one just for the disney experience but it's twice the price.
DCL is our usual line of choice, no kids just two adults travelling, we are not Disney fanatics but they really know how to treat you, but its ports are so repetitive in the Caribbean so we are considering doing our first X cruise to the Southern Caribbean (ABC ETC.) and have been avidly reading up on everything for months. Looking at Aqua class this time but can't make up my mind if I will like Blu or will the cabins be large enough as we love the size on DCL and the split bath.

You do become an expert on one line and know all the perks and pros and cons so it's almost daunting starting with "someone else".
  6. We mainly sail DCL these days, (but that is changing as we have shifted to Celebrity). I always got the chance to dress formally on DCL at least once in a formal environment when we go to dine in the adult only Remy. Formal night in the MDR is anything but formal!

I come from a background of formal dining on a regular basis and cocktail parties and formal luncheons so had to dress the part but since moving to the US it has become a lot less as folks don't dress up the same here (apart from all the lovely ladies on here of course).

Looking forward to putting a dress and heels on 3 times in the next 5 days as we are hitting some of the decent steakhouses in Orlando with some visiting family! That's as formal as it gets at the minute. Even Christmas Day at the Ritz, we saw some really scruffy gits!

  7. You look good in your outfit but so many people that wear leggings should not be allowed out in public;)

Over the years I have had real leather and suede skirts/trousers and would still wear them now, well maybe not the leather and suede mini skirts:eek:

  8. It is NOT the sanitizer. I have cruised for 14 nights and use the had sanitizer constantly. I have my nails done (using either OPI or ZORA with an OPI top coat) before I leave home and my nails look as good when I leave the ship as when I boarded. (My nails are a vanity point for me :o)

I always use Hawaiian Tropic lotion type sunscreen (other brands and sprays I have found dull my nails).

Sanitizer certainly CAN break down some polishes regular and gel. I am not just throwing an opinion around here but as a CND nail professional living in a sunny state I see it regularly especially amongst my health care professionals who use it all the time. Anything with alcohol can break it down, including sunscreen, bug spray, chlorine blah blah.

I am also a LMT using hand sanitizer regularly and it does affect your nails with constant use.

  9. Cheese and biscuits (crackers) at the start of a meal seems to be an American thing, in UK we have it at the end of a meal with port normally, saying that I have had it in high end restaurants here and it is always served at the end of the meal. It is one of the few things I do order from room service on any cruise we take. Keeping it on topic, I tip for the delivery too.:D

  10. If the stars are aligned and nothing goes wrong you should make it.

We walk straight off the ship at 7am (we don't eat breakfast on the last morning, I always have a snack handy just incase), normally no lines at immigration/baggage/shuttle and we are normally in our house about 25 mins south of MCO by 9ish and that is going into Cape Canaveral to pick up our car too.

  11. Most of the lines don't allow this, it has to be bottles of 750ml, so I can't see DCL being any different. I used to take mini bottles on rather than open a whole bottle but it appears we can't do this anymore even if these wee bottles were to match the 750ml found in a "regular" bottle of wine.
