I would love to know too. Also, how long is the ferry ride? Does the beach have amenities?
-
I was wondering about this too. Has anyone used her lately?

I really want to go to Mountain Top. Last year, in St Thomas, we went to Magen's Bay first and then planned to take a taxi to Mountain Top from there but we couldn't find a taxi that was willing to take us there.
Does anyone have any advice or do we have to take a ship excursion to get there. My 7 year old is very scared to try the sky ride up so that probably isn't an option.
Oops the sky ride is at Paradise Point so ignore that part :)

We are going on the Pearl next March with our 7 year old. Is it true the slide is gone? How was kids club? Did your kids enjoy it?

Cas Abao as well as Porto Marie are about 30 minutes from the cruise port. Taxi average is $40 each way.
Most people say that Porto Marie has better snorkeling, but Cas Abao is prettier.
Keep in mind that the beach closes at 6 PM, so you might not have much snorkeling/beach time if you're coming in at 2 PM.
The $40 each way for the taxi is that per person or $40 no matter how many people?

We leave in less then a month on the NCL Sun. I am trying to book a tour in Curacao but the tour company says they do not have info yet as to where the Sun is docking. Does anyone know?
thank you!

Yay! This makes my day! I read a recent review on the Sun and it said the chilled soups were in the buffet. We leave in less then a month and this is great news :)

Curacao
If you want to dive, check out operators in Curacao for a "Discover Scuba course". Underwater, whether diving or snorkeling, is better in Curacao than Aruba.
In Curacao we simply took a taxi to Playa Porto Mari. My husband and I were set on just spending a day at the beach. We ended up diving (we are certified already). They also have a snorkel trail there as well. It was very easy getting there by taxi.
Aruba
Search here in this forum. Aruba is great for beaches as well as sightseeing.
Was it pretty easy to get a taxi in Curacao to Playa Porto Mari? Is it easy to get one as you're leaving the beach or do we need to make sure the one that drops us off will come back?

Chiming in here, but would you recommend Porto Marie beach for young children? Any other beaches that are not crowded and nice for little ones? thanks!
I was wondering this too. Is Porto Marie or Cas Abou better for young children?

I've been trying to decide if we should book with Peter Trips to do their beach tour stopping at Big Knip, Cas Abou and Porto Marie. It's $50 and includes all entrance fees.
Or should we just try to get a taxi as we leave the ship to take us to either Cas Abou or Porto Marie for the day? Is it pretty easy to get a taxi to one of these beaches? Is it easy to get one back to the ship when we are done at the beach? Would the driver, also, be willing to take us by the flamingo area?
Thanks for any advice or opinions you can offer :)

I asked almost the same thing in the middle of another thread but haven't been answered yet. My biggest concern is if it's pretty easy to get a taxi at both places and if it would be better to go to paradise point first to avoid crowds.

We are in St Thomas from 8-5pm. We want to hit PP and Magen's Bay. Does anyone have advice on which place we should go to first? Is it pretty easy to get taxi's to and from both places?
Last time we were in St Thomas, a taxi driver tried to talk us out of going to Magen's Bay because he couldn't find enough people to fill the van. He made us wait for a long time until the van was full.

We have been to Magen's Bay twice and have seen iguanas both times. We have seen them as we were walking to the bathrooms in the tree/grassy area.
My husband just said he remembers there being an iguana preserve area at Magen's.

We went last year and just found a taxi as we got off the ship that took us there. I can't remember exactly how much it was. When you're ready to leave the beach there are many taxi's waiting for you.
This year we hope to go to Magen's Bay for a bit and then have a taxi bring us up to Mountaintop. I'm wondering if they would be willing to do this. They always seem to want a full van before heading anywhere.

If I could have chilled soup and pretzel rolls everyday of the cruise I'd be so happy.

You can get some good info from going to ports board. We've done all the ports mentioned. Went to Boatyard, close and inexpensive (they will provide transportation back to ship) If there are a lot of ships in port will get VERY crowded. Really enjoyed snorkle with turtles thru private company (can not remember name) Aruba is for beaches Got a taxi to eagle Beach and rented palapa and chairs from Amsterdam Manor No crowds. Liked it so much spent a weeek there in October. Cab catch the bus back as stops right in front. Curacvao just walked into town and caught a local tour (inexpensive) Enjoyed the cafe and casino after. Not fond ot the beaches there
Thank you for this! I've been trying to decide if it would be better to do a beach day in Aruba or Curacao. Aruba it is!

I would love to hear about this too! We travel on the Sun to these ports in March and I just can't decide what to do.

Love the tips! Thank you! We sail in March.

which date in March???
March 6th

Thank you so much for the review! I know it takes a lot of time but it is so much appreciated!
We are taking the same cruise in March except they changed our Columbia stop for Guadeloupe and St Martin for Barbados. After seeing your Columbia pictures I'm a bit disappointed! The buildings are beautiful! It would have been neat to say I've been there :)

Glad you had a great time! We just love the Sun and are taking her in March!

This is wonderful! Thank you!

We used Action Charters. They were wonderful and we really enjoyed our day.

A year ago we were there and rented one. They charged $30 for an hour.
