  1. Hi Lois:

Great to see you back. I know that you have been cruising with other lines. Staff is largely different, but still a strength, The ships might be larger than you are used to cruising and that makes a real difference. Captain George , who was on Century is now on Equinox

Thank you.  The entire experience was devastating.  I've never broken a bone, never had to rely on my spouse to do everything for me.  Never had to sit on a sofa all day( bored out of my mind), watching the roll call group go on with the cruise( a bucket list cruise for sure).  I'm still taking pain meds 3.5 weeks later.  I can't bear weight for another 3 weeks.  I have months of PT ahead of me.  Jeez, why do I even post here.  Its MY OPINION.  I'm entitled to it.  I feel its UNFAIR that I paid X 10k and I won't even get the points.

May you have a speedy and compete recovery. It"s their points policy and you had insurance to cover the cost.  Points are award with compilation not with the final payment.

Just off the Constellation. We did a Petit Chef speciality dining. The menu was seafood based.

I was gobsmacked when the lobster was presented, covered in slightly crushed generic potato chips.

Yes, really, slighty crushed potato chips. Just like what is left towards the bottom of the big bag of plain generic chips that you buy at any grocery store.

There was nothing else on the plate, just this small cut open lobster lobster covered in slightly crushed potato chips.

I don't mind it when my work cafetaria serves potato chips as a side to my $8.00 sandwich, but as a garnish to a $60+ meal? Is this fine dining now?

I complained about this and got the usual "we are so sorry" and "the recipes are set by corporate, we have to follow them."

Personally, if I had guests over for supper (not counting BBQ or casual) I would never serveto the r  potato chips as the side. Am I that old fashion and out of touch with what is considered fine dining today?

You don't say anything about taste. Did the generic potato pieces add flavor to the lobster?

Wow. I moved up on the Solstice a few months ago . It was very nice to be Elite plus and they  treated me at Cafe al Bacio  in the early morning before the new cruise embarked

Of course they did! Congratulations on going to the next level. They might need to speak to the head of Guest Relations to get it done.

On Silhouette right now and official policy is that you do not get the benefit of the next Captain’s Club level on the 2nd leg. Need to wait 14 days. Disappointed.

As was stated: Let the Captain's Club know before hand and they can do the calculations and authorize that the benefits will be activated. I was doing several B2Bs who I changed status. Can't hurt to ask.

  6. I was on the same cruise and appreciate your comments. The CD Mike was visible to me. He gave some interesting presentations on Titanic. The shows were really good with the new cast. My cabin attendant was friendly and professional. The staff was wonderful! The Officers were visible. The MDR food was very good. My fellow passengers were very friendly.

Is the increased spending a blip?

Hotel taxes in my city will increase a LOT in 2024. Yesterday, one of the leaders of the local hotel/motel association advised hotel/motel owners to appeal their tax assessments en masse. Hotel occupancy and tourism were way up in 2023 - higher than pre-pandemic levels - but non-governmental tourism advisors are stating that the level of spending can't be sustained. The economy is facing headwinds and they also believe that 'revenge travel' has reached its peak.

My suspicion is the same for other travel such as cruises. I don't think anyone at RCI is looking long-term - they're making decisions based on overly simplistic data like base spending, and not reviewing repeat customer data or surveys or accounting for discontent within loyal/long-term customers. But what do I know ... just that we're looking at non-cruise options for our future.

Results count!  RCL is most interested in their shareholders and they seem pleased as the share price increases.
