  1. We were in the haven on the breakaway two weeks ago and never experienced that. We did go to shows and sat in the roped off area. Five minutes before the show started they removed the ropes. Even the row we were in and there was only 4 of us. We were led to another line in customs that was haven only. We still had to wait in a line. Not nearly as long as others but we paid for the privilege. We paid almost $6000 for our haven courtyard suite. We would have paid half for a balcony. If you were offered the haven for only $1000

    you were very lucky!

  2. We just did the breakaway in a courtyard haven suite last week. It was worth every penny and we paid full price but got the 4 perks at the time we booked last year. Having the pool and hot tub and lounge to ourselves compared to the hectic overcrowded regular pool area was worth the price. We didn't even use the concierge and barely bothered the butler. It was coming through that haven door, leaving all the loudness and craziness behind and entering solitude. We will never go back to regular balconies again. Already planning on a haven cabin on the escape next September.

  3. Just returned from the breakaway today. Many times we just had to show one card for two drinks. I would go to a bar ans get two with no issue. There were times at dinner that we were both there ordering drinks and the server said he just needed one card. These were for alcoholic drinks.

  4. Just off the Breakaway today and already planning the next cruise. We want to try the Escape next September. We have been on the Epic, getaway, and breakaway. Also have been on the smaller ships. I was wondering if anyone has been on the escape and any of the larger NCL ships what the difference is besides size. Anything new and exciting? Thanks!

  5. We just got off the Breakaway today. Would not even step foot in the venue that Second City was in. Last BA trip we tried it and didn't even last 10 minutes, they are horrible! I love the improv of "Who's line is it anyway" on TV, but this is NOTHING like those guys.

Just got home today too. The show we went to was impro and cruise ship jokes. They chose some older gent out of the audience to be a participant. That had to be the most boring show ever. Why they thought this man was so funny was beyond us. I couldn't wait to get out of there. We have tried this show before and always give it another try hoping it will be funny. Never again!

  6. Thanks all! Our docs does say 711 so wasnt sure that was actually a pier or not. Didn't mention an actual pier which is a first for us. We are coming in by train and taking a taxi to the port. We will just tell the taxi where we want to go and let him figure it out. LOL

  7. We usually board ASAP and go to the dining room

Followed by a nice drink on the deck. This is our first haven cruise so looks like we will be going to the haven for sliders and drinks while getting intros from the staff. We will walk around the ship before going to the top deck to get some nice pics of the Statue of Liberty at send off. Can't wait! We leave in two days!

  8. We are in a haven suite on the Breakaway this Sunday. First time in the haven and cannot wait! I am hoping once we do this we won't ever go back to a standard balcony. Lol. We did get an upsell on our first cruise ever on the Dawn years ago to the romance suite. I had no idea what all the perks were and never used them. This time I'm ready! I would try it once OP and see how you like it.

  9. I have to agree with some adult bad behavior. Last time on the Getaway in November 2014 there was a lady at the bar thar is located near the cigar lounge. She was soooo loaded. I mean beyond loaded.

She was sitting there drinking for hours. Every time I went to speak with my husband who was in the cigar lounge I noticed this lady being extremely loud and just plain drunk.

I went up to get a drink and she was asking the bartender for a rag. He gave her one and she bent down as best as she could and wiped the floor. She then tossed the rag up to the bar and that's when the bartender and everyone within 10 feet of her thar she wiped poo off the floor. She had pooed herself and wiped it up.

The bar was immediately shut down. It was the most disgusting things I've ever witnessed on a cruise ship.

Rumor has it that they wanted her off the next port but the husband promised to keep her in her cabin for rest of the cruise. I did she her still on the ship the day we came back to port so I guess she got to stay.

When I spoke of this incident last time on these boards it was removed rather quickly. Guess NCL didn't want it reported. Anyway, it's just not kids that can be bad but least we can control them. Adults, not so much!

  10. I imagine that between the hours of 6 PM and 6 AM, there are significantly fewer kids. I suggest all of these crabby folks take advantage and use the Haven courtyard during those hours.

Or, if the Haven pool closes during those hours, and you really want to have an environment free of kids, then choose Vibe or Spice H2).

If those are too loud for you due to boozed up adults, try the thermal pass to the spa. There, you'll find an 18+ pool, spas, and most definitely quiet.

If that isn't good enough, choose a cruise line that does not allow children - they are absolutely out there. Then you can complain on those liners' boards about 1) how boring it is and 2) how expensive it is and 3) how much you missed the mass-market lines.

As for me, I'll be enjoying the Haven with my 7-yo twin boys (who I wouldn't DREAM of leaving alone around water without supervision). One of them might frequent the candy jars. The other one won't, but he might sing at the top of his lungs (and I will probably be recording him on my phone because he's adorable). I'll be the one on the lounger, probably with a book I'll never get the chance to read, but a drink that I'll definitely attend to along with my little dudes.

I don't mind kids anywhere, having 3 of my own, but I won't find your kid adorable singing at the top of his lungs. Kids laughing and having fun is fine. Singing as loud as you can? Obnoxious. What ship will you be on and when? Lol
