  1. They don't care. I know the work around but what stops them from moving a person if Celebrity wants the cabin. I don't want to play these games. And of course retreat is not an issue since it is expensive. Thanks for checking on this. Now we know why some are restricted and others are not
  2. Argh, I can't believe I missed this! You are right because I Don't care about the deposit since the cruise is happening anyway! I wasn't thinking this way!
  3. No, my TA told me that if I booked fir 2 people (not solo) I would lose the deposit but get taxes refunded.
  4. You loose the deposit for the no show if a non refundable was booked
  5. This is something that just started in July (that I noticed). Like I said, not sure if it is widespread but I did looked at a few random sailings in Apex and found the same restrictions. I'm just passing on what "the analyst at the revenue department" said
  6. Yes, it is a bad decision. I like the Edge class ships and don't like the location or size of the solo cabins so if I ever travel on my own, I will need to look elsewhere.
  7. Hi everyone, awhile back I posted that I couldn't move my MIL to a concierge cabin on Celebrity Apex. Our sailing is on Nov 16 and there are still plenty of cabins left. I called again because I noticed all solo cabins are gone and assumed other cabins would be available. I waited with our TA on the phone while we waited for the "revenue department" to approve an exception. After a long wait, an analyst denied the request. They are strict in the restriction so once the 20+solo cabins are gone, if you are traveling alone, you can only book a suite. If you are used to traveling in Aqua class, you like a Sunset veranda or want an inside room then you can't book a cabin in an Edge class ship. I don't know if this has been extended to all Edge class ships but I know others mentioned similar restrictions in their sailings. Laura Hodges Bethge and Celebrity's policy for single passengers continues to be one of the worse in the industry.
  8. I watch with eagle eyes. Once I saw them reaching for the well brand (not even absolut) and I quickly reminded him that I asked for Grey Goose. The vodka was dumped and drink started over like nothing happened
  9. This has happened to me as well. It is the one reason I would rather go to the bar to order my drink. I like to see what is been poured. Another reason is that if I order a cocktail, I want the bartender to make it and not the server. Even in the retreat I have seen servers make drinks that do not know what they are doing.
  10. Interesting! Celebrity is being sneaky and potentially testing something
  11. I am thinking that it could be due to open solo cabins:cruises with no solo cabins left show all cabin types and cruises with solo cabins still available only allow for this type of cabin. I am keeping track to see if other cabins open up once solo cabins are sold out. There are still 5 left in my cruise
  12. I think what people call unfair is to pay more than double occupancy. There was a time when it was more expensive to book a regular cabin for a single person than it was for 2.
  13. Still lots of cabin on my sailing. Maybe once solo cabins are sold out, the rest will open up. I just noticed this and wanted to see if others experienced this.
  14. Agreed but it is more about flexibility. If I were to book a cabin, I would want the option of other choices. I know I could do a booking with a second TBD but it shouldn't be that way.
  15. My husband and I have a Nov cruise on the APEX and my MIL is coming as well. She originally had a concierge cabin but decided later to just move to a solo cabin since it offer savings of more than $1000. Since the change was done, we discovered the cabin is significantly obstructed. She doesn't care but I do so I have been looking at reg infinite cabins to move her to (I will pay the difference) and I noticed that if the cabin is for 1 passenger, the options are only solo cabins or suites even though there is plenty of open cabins. I called the TA and she said it is a change and that solo travelers can only book solo cabins. If my MIL wanted to move to any other standard cabin including aqua or concierge) she can't book it and if she insist, we will need to wait for approval from Celebrity. Anyone experienced this? I checked with several TAs as well to confirm this. Like I said, she is OK with the cabin but I feel like people should have the flexibility to book any cabin.
  16. I have been in contact with Celebrity through FB messenger because my husband's totals and activity were correct but my total was not. Up until this PUP we had the same # of points. I couldn't understand it so I compared our cruising history and that is when I noticed that I am missing the PUP activity from Feb 23 and Feb 24. I was told I needed proof that I did the activity. I normally take screenshots but delete them after I see the points posted so I didn't have any. Today, I noticed that I'm auto uploading to the cloud (something I thought I disabled) so I found the screenshots from the Feb survey! It is too late for Feb 23 but I'm hoping I can get the 1 point back from Feb 24. I will be out of sync by 1 point with my husband. I told Celebrity that they should believe their customer and not make them jump through hoops to prove something. It is not the customer that can't be trusted but Celebrity. I asked to pass this feedback along but I doubt it will go anywhere. We all spend thousands of dollars so I really don't see people lying about doing these activities! Anyway, the PSA is to save your screenshots or take screenshots of your account every time it is updated. You never know when you will need them.
  17. I see in history but my total only went up by 1. I will give it more time for it to fix itself but if total is still wrong after a few days, how do I get it fixed? Edit: I just checked my husband's account and his shows the right # of points. We should have the same number of points so I will wait
  18. Why are the prices so different? This is what is in my planner and is higher than the screenshots in this thread. For example basic wifi is $16.99 vs $20.99 vs $23.99
  19. Re chat with buttler: This is exactly how I used it. It worked great and in my feedback I said it is something that must remain. It eliminates miss understandings and you get instant responses
  20. If you are referring to the chat feature, it was great. I was on a sky suite and preferred this over the phone
  21. My buttler offered both. However, I preferred the chat. I could text him from anywhere on the ship.
  22. I tested this on Ascent and really liked it. I gave positive feedback and hoped would stay. It uses the app whasapp (spelling?), which I already had on my phone. I liked it because the communication was instant and you knew when your buttler read the message. I preferred this over the phone
  23. We are going on the Apex in November with my MIL. We have anytime dining and she has 6PM sitting. My husband wants to move to 6PM sitting but I think it is better if she changes from early dining to select. I have 2 questions: 1)If we move to early time dining and link our reservations, do we get a restaurant assigned and we go to that restaurant every day or can we rotate amongst the 4? 2) There is no select dining available, can we switch her when we get onboard? I was thinking I could ask the Host when we have our concierge lunch on embarkation date. Or is this not possible? Thanks
  24. It was a GREAT room and we loved it. We had 2 loungers, 2 chairs and a small table and arranged the chairs by the side window and loungers on the other side. If I ever do a sky suite again I will look for this room or the one with the window facing forward and I would look at decks 7 and 8 (maybe 9) because there is good sun in those decks. The orange column didn't bother me at all. Highly recommend this type of suite
