  1. Depends on what you mean by "working". For most AMEX cards, you just need to login to your account and look in the AMEX Offers section and it will be there. Apparently the special link was only needed for cards like the Delta card which by default do not get travel offers.

I have 3 Delta AMEX cards and had to use the special link before. That "old link" is not working this time.

  2. Cozumel: We have done Nachi Cocum many times, Money Bar or you can just walk around downtown.

Ocho Rios: Courtney Taylor and a must do is lunch at Scotchies if you like jerk chicken.

Grand Cayman: Look at Natieway Watersports. They do a stop at stingray city, snorkel stop, and then order lunch from the boat that it ready for you when you get to Rum point. It is $65 for the day and this includes lunch. It is called Rays, Reef and Rum Point.

  3. i am sailing on the Magic on the Empress deck about 5 cabins from the Atrium. Should I be concerned about the noise?

    TIA.

We just had the 6th cabin down from the atrium on the Paradise and it was too noisy for us. We really liked the deck though and I talked to a couple that was down the hall 14 cabins and they said they could not hear anything from the atrium.

  4. I've been waiting for 2 months now to book our next cruise, but the itinerary we wanted didn't go out that far... finally my PVP called me on Wed and WE'RE BOOKED!!!

We're going on Vista out of Galveston in June, 2019, and I finally talked my Daughter, Son-in-Law and Grandson into coming with us (I've been trying to get this to happen for 10 years!!) Most of the ports we're going to DH & I have been to but they're all new to the rest of the family, so we're okay with it.

I'm so excited to finally have this cruise on the books!

    So now a

    comment and a

few questions for all of you...

Based on the advice I got here, I finally have a Carnival Personal Vacation Planner (PVP). She's phenomenal! I talked to her about what we need and she promised to get in touch with me as soon as Carnival posted the dates we wanted... I got a call from her a few weeks later, within an HOUR of them becoming available! She's been working with me on all the details and I couldn't be happier! She's obviously one of the good ones! So thanks to everyone who encouraged me to get a PVP that I can build a relationship with for my future cruises!

Now the questions... anyone had a balcony on Lido deck, port side forward? Grandson is excited that he'll be so close to the pool and food! I'd like to confirm it's not too noisy! We're forward of the elevators so I'm hoping Lido music won't be bad. Anyone experienced in those cabins? We got 2 balcony cabins (not adjoining) and our PVP says the balcony partitions should open. I would love to confirm that.

We're 18 months out- furthest out I've ever booked a cruise. Any idea when I can typically expect the excursions to be available online?

Last time I booked, the checkin time was available as soon as I did the online checkin. Now I understand they hold off on when they open that up. Does anyone know the average time before sailing that they make the checkin time available online?

I know there's a pass for Thrill Theater that allows unlimited shows... does anyone know if there's such a thing for the IMAX theater? If so, how much? Can you buy Thrill Theater or IMAX tickets before your cruise?

Thanks to everyone on CC who has helped me research this cruise, and who may help with some of these questions... I know there are some grumpy gusses here who will only rain on my parade, but most of you on CC are just plain nice people who enjoy helping fellow cruisers!

We had 9258 on the Vista. Great location and quite cabin. We did do the Imax and enjoyed it. I did not see unlimited tickets for it nor did I see where you can buy them in advance. We bought our tickets just before we went into the show. It is very easy and you do it from a small computer like device that it mounted on the counter. We have been a few times and never had to wait. Not able to confirm your balcony partitions without the cabin numbers.

  5. Vista...especially if you do the Havana experience. Also Amber Cove and Grand Turk are nothing to get excited about....Glorified Beach stops for Grand Turk...and really very touristy (just shops unless you take an hour excursion somewhere)and in a poor area in Amber Cove.. And hopefully the island infrastructures and greenery will have returned to some semblance of normal in St Thomas and San Juan within the next 15 months

Just got off the Vista and had a Havana Cabana. We really didn't care for it at all. We could hear the thumping music from the Havana bar in our cabin nightly until almost 1am. I like the concept of the Havana area and there was lots of seating, but the music they played out there was not relaxing and at times so loud we couldn't hear each other talk. Also prefer just a regular balcony that I can sit on and watch the water go by. Lines were long, room service very slow as well as elevators. It was a big disappointment for us and we had sailed her previously in Europe and had a great time.

  6. We were on the same cruise with a group of friends and family on decks 5 and 6 and none of us were sick. Not sure where you encountered the empty hand sanitizers because we used them daily the entire cruise and never found them empty. We were lucky in regards to Grand Cayman as we were able to get on the first tender and still do the private excursion we had booked, but it did have to be shortened by 1/2 hour and they picked us up at the new spot. This is not the first time we have had this problem there and on one cruise they cancelled the stop which is even worse in my opinion. Lines at the casino, pixels and guest services were the longest I have ever seen. One of the guys at Pixels said they were trying to fix it from Miami and were having no luck. We still had a good time, but I have to say I think I prefer the smaller ships.

  7. We are traveling to Cuba on Feb.17th with Carnival . According to their web site you have to do a tour each day to be allowed off the ship . After the tour you may wander . The second day we are only in port till noon so three hours of touring is required to get off the ship . I am not sure if it is worth the hassle .

We went to Cuba with Carnival on October 19th, so before the new rules. The ship arrived at 11:30am so we were only required to do a 4 hour tour that day. The next day the ship was set to leave at 12noon. When I asked what the requirements were for that day, they were very vague and basically just shrugged their shoulders. We got off the ship and wandered around area sight seeing.

We really enjoyed Havana and booked the August 18th sailing where the ship will be there 2 full days. Will be interesting to see how this compares.

  8. Your welcome. He is pretty quick to respond. One of the things I learned from him is they don't have internet like we do. They have to go to hot spots which seemed to be in parks and hook up from there. No internet in their homes like we have. They have to buy cards that give them minutes.

  9. Thank you for this.

    I'm thinking of using him..

I think you will really enjoy the tour. I booked him again for 2 days in August so am hoping the new travel rules don't prohibit it.

He was very excited that I wrote a review on here. If you book tell him you heard about on CC from Clark and Mary.

  10. We are pretty easy going and loved it all. We had no real agenda, but did ask him to take us to a cigar factory which he was happy to do. We just let him mix it up for us. We went to a park that girls get photographed at for their 15th birthday. Stopped by a little café and got a bakery item. Went to the Hotel Nationale and had a drink and bought coffee. Toured Fustalandia and the Havana Ghetto and drove around. I would check out Havana on Trip Advisor and see what you might be interested in.

  11. We booked this tour for our October 2017 cruise to Cuba on the Carnival Paradise. The tour was 6 hours and the price was 200 cuc if you wanted the photos or 150 cuc without them. Our guide Yosel was amazing. He spoke fluent English and had a great personality. It felt like you were touring with a friend. We met at the square across the street from the cruise terminal. Yosel provided us with a wide variety of stops, exploring new Havana, old Havana, and other top touristy stops. Some of the places we went were off the beaten path and not on the usual tour guides agenda. I would say that this was probably the best tour we have ever taken. We are headed back to Cuba next year and will definitely be booking with Yosel again.

  12. I don't like to leave my car outside, either. I called ahead of time and they assured me it would be under cover.

Now, I can tell you, that at pick up, there was dew on the glass, and it had clearly been outside for a little bit. For my own serenity, I choose to believe that they brought the day's cars out to a lot nearby the terminal either early that morning, or the night before.

I will say that the car was not filthy, like it is when I park at a friend's hotel's lot in Dania when cruising from Ft. Lauderdale.

Thanks, I think we will give it a shot and hope the car is parked inside. Sounds like it was super easy.

  13. Yes! Highly recommended and worth every penny.

I did walk off, and was in my car on the way home by 7:15.

Do you know if your car was in the covered garage? I seen where someone posted that valet parked cars were not parked in the covered garage.

  14. Turn left out of the terminal and take a walk along the waterfront down to the Artisan's market.

It's huge, and you'll find the usual tourist detritus (T-shirts, etc), but also a large selection of locally made art and crafts.

Nice to know...we leave October 19th. By chance did you use the valet parking at the port of Tampa?

  15. So I have been very busy the last 5 months and haven't been on CC much at all. Today we boarded the Legend to Alaska. I went to what I thought was the future cruise desk and spoke to someone there who told me all ships have done away with the desk except the dream. I asked him if we could book once we got home for the $50 OBC and he said no. This is he first I have heard that there is no incentives now.

  16. Which brings me to my next question. For those of you that used the LINK that was posted last time because the offer wasn't in your account, did you get an offer this time? Also for the same people, did you try the old link and see where it was already redeemed? That's what it said for me.

Now for those that don't know of the link from before, who didn't have it on their cards as an offer, or didn't add it to your card from the link, what do you get when you click through this link and log in? https://online.americanexpress.com/myca/logon/us/action/LogonHandler?request_type=LogonHandler&Face=en_US&DestPage=https%3A%2F%2Fonline.americanexpress.com%2Fmyca%2Faccountsummary%2Fus%2Faccounthome%3Frequest_type%3Dauthreg_acctAccountSummary%26Face%3Den_US%26ViewName%3DOffersDetails%26lgnsrc%3Damexoffers%26ContentSrcID%3Duuu8yPGtXSGCaDNuR%252Bd3sw%253D%253D%26v2

Trying to determine if they aren't letting the people that took advantage of it last time do it again this time.

Says sorry the offer you selected is no longer available
