  1. Thank you Terry for your Updates. One question though. These sites were uneffected by the storm, but how are the roads to get there?? When the cruise ships arrive, how will the tourists be brought to These Areas? Any Information?

I am wondering the same thing. Just hoping that once October gets here some of the cruisers will post their experiences.

  2. One last question....is there a fee if have them mailed to me? Is it less expensive to get ecards and is there a downside to doing so?

(Apologies....that was more than one last question!)

I have purchased several thousand dollars of these cards over the past year. Maybe I have been lucky but I have had no issues in buying, receiving or using the cards.

I have paid off cruises online and through my PVP. I have applied for OBC at guest services and at the kiosks.

    Good luck!

  3. The airfare is being refunded to my understanding. I won't count on anything until I see it.

When the paper work was handed out there was not a place to indicate wishes or preferred plans. When they handed it to us - it was "in the rare event they needed to fly us home" at that time they still made it sound like we would be sailing Back to San Juan.

We spent plenty of money on the trip- not that I feel like I need to justify that to anyone. I used vacation that I won't have for this "do-over" vacation any time soon. Same with my husband who doesn't even receive paid vacation.

If you'll refer back to my first post- I have stated that I am thankful for what Carnival and its crew has done to try to right a wrong. Again- my chief complaint was that we were separated from our group even after I asked not to be.

Make sure you keep all of the documentation you have on your airfare and any documentation that you may have where Carnival states that they will refund your air.

I would definitely call them and find out how you can go about getting a refund for it. You may have to call them a few times but hopefully they will refund you.

I was booked to be on the Splendor and she caught on fire about 2 weeks before our cruise. Carnival did refund my air but if I remember correctly it took a few phone calls and I had to relinquish our tickets to Carnival. Maybe they got something out of them from the airlines.

    Good luck :)

  4. The only pattern to the flights was the east coast cities- and since we are from Utah- I'm not sure how we got put into the Orlando charter. At the end of the day- if we hadn't been separated from our group at least we would all be in it together. On the ship or at home it would t matter as much as it does now. That's my largest complaint. It tore up the entire reason for the trip (my In laws 50th anniversary- on the day of the anniversary) even after I asked not to be split up.

I would be very unhappy with my group being separated as well. I would write Carnival a letter and let them know how you feel. Constructive criticism never hurts.

I hope you can have a "do over" with your group. Alaska might be nice with your 50% discount.

  5. Port (left) side on Lido is nonsmoking, starboard on Lido is not.

To the OP.... even numbered cabins are on port side and odd are on the starboard side. I would double check and see which side is the smoking side. The info I have says smoking is allowed on decks 5 and 11 port side.

  6. I will be at a Carnival event today and will ask about these two ships and when the announcement will happen.

Thanks, I am a planner and would love to know. This waiting game is sure getting frustrating.

I did see a teaser post by John last week that said something like "if we offered a Panama Canal cruise soon would you be interested?"

  7. This is the information I found on the gratuities for the wine package:

If you order by calling Carnival Bon Voyage / The Fun Shops , purchase onboard through the gift shop, or purchase onboard through your waiter in the Main Dining Room you will be charged a 15% gratuity charge (in ALL cases). Prices represented below already include this charge. Any way you order you will not have to select the actual wines in your package till you are ready to drink each one.

Read more: Wine Packages - Carnival Cruise Lines - at cruisin dot me/info/carnival-cruise-lines/wine-packages.php

Everything else looks the same. The info should be fairly accurate as it was last updated Jan 2, 2015.

  8. Thinking of making my 45th cruise my first Carnival cruise for my girl friend's birthday in December (12/6). They have a 6-night Key West, Cayman, Cozumel out of FLL (we live 40 minutes from the port) and I just got a GTY outside "senior" rate which totals out with taxes and fees at about $824 + gratuities + FTTF if I can get that. So figure a little over $1000 or $170 a night for two. Heck, a good hotel costs more than that, and you still have to pay for food.

Looks like Conquest has the 2.0 upgrades, though, frankly, I don't cruise for Guy's Burgers and such. Though I might just try my first water slide.

Hey, for a Celebrity / Cunard guy this could prove interesting!

What y'all think? Nice ship, good price? Certainly seems that way to me. I always wanted to see Joe Farcus at his best (worst?):D

We are booked on this cruise and it will be our first time on the Conquest. We have been on her sister ship the Freedom a few times and really enjoyed it.

I booked it because I thought the price and itinerary looked good. I think you have a great rate. Hope your girlfriend gives the green light and you guys have a great time.

  9. Just off Paradise today. Future cruise desk guy said Miracle will do the Canal as it is for sure coming to Tampa and Splendor will most likely be doing a 48 day South Africa again to bring it back to Long Beach.

I hope so. We have been waiting for the announcement for a while now. I would love to be able to do both of these cruises.

  10. Carnival Vista lascerà il bacino a secco sabato 04/07 alle ore 8 come previsto, la zona interessata al sequestro è solamente quella riguardante lo stoccaggio dei rifiuti.

Carnival Vista will leave the dry dock Saturday, 07/04 at 8:00 am as planned. The seized area is only waste storage.

Carnival Vista will leave the pelvis to dry on Saturday 04/07 at 8 hours as planned, the area is only interested in seizure that concerning the storage of waste.

  11. Carnival Breeze, ext aft next to wrap #7461, no sofa or coffee table. I had that cabin two years ago. Very small room, large balcony. Again if the room details say desk and chair, no mention of a sofa, then you have a significantly smaller ext aft room.

That's what I see as well. Cabins 7460 and 7461 which are right next to the wraps do not have a sofa while 7462, 7463, 7464, 7465, 7466, and 7367 all have sofas.

  12. On the Breeze the 2 cabins next to the corner wrap have balconies that are twice as big as the other extended aft cabins. Cabin size is the same. So it depends which ship.

Are you referring to the cabins on each side or the extended aft cabins which run between the aft wraps?

  13. Now that sounds like a deal!! I'd purchase from CCL instead of Verizon.

To get the best deal you had to have a Carnival Master Card. There were some people who tried to apply for one when the deal came out but it was too late because you had to have the card in hand to make the purchase.

I am hoping it comes out again on Father's Day or Black Friday.

  14. If I remember correctly...and I am going solely from memory...last year, if you bought a gift card, you received a second gift card worth 10% of the original. In other words, if you bought a $500 gift card, you received an additional $50 gift card as well.

The original $500 gift card had no expiration date, but the $50 card did have an expiration date, but I can't remember how long they were good for (about 18 months I think, but I'm guessing here).

There was another promotion...and it may have been last year's Black Friday...where the circumstances were similar, but with a twist. All of the above applied, but if you used the Carnival Mastercard to make the purchase of the gift card, they threw in another 10% discount on the price of the gift card itself.

Someone with a better memory may remember all the particulars better than I.

The Black Friday deal was a great deal. The deal was if you bought $500 they gave you a $50 extra gift card, but if you used your Carnival Master Card they doubled it. We bought 5 of the $500 ones and got 5 $100 gift cards about a week later. The had deals for smaller amounts too but I don't remember the amounts for those.

  15. Unfortunately this forum doesn't allow people to edit posts after a short time, so when I changed photo hosting providers, all the links went dead, and I couldn't update them.

Anyway, you can find them on my Flickr account here, if you or anyone else is interested...

I was so disappointed until I found this post with those awesome pictures! Thanks for sharing.
