But do they really need to know when or if we go to the bathroom?  lol. It is literally Big Brother at its best.  Found it annoying that if I went to a bar two days in a row the greeting was, oh would you like another martini,

That happened well before the medallion's.  The staff on cruise ships are taught how to remember names, faces and what people drink.  This is nothing new.

@kpgibbsI would double check the Port of SF schedule for your sailing date to ascertain which pier you will have. Pier 27 is newer and nicer, but it may be occupied, so you could be at Pier 35, an older decrepit building. We had an "embarkation from hell" there while boarding the Ruby Princess, and would not wish that on anyone.

Oh that doesn't sound good.  I will check.  Thank you for your input.

My husband needs wheelchair assistance for boarding.  At Pier 27 in S.F., when you arrive look by the wall of the building for wheelchair assistance.  They will take you up into the terminal, thru security and then thru check in.  They will the leave you in an area with others needing assistance.  A Princess employee will then push the wheelchair up the gangway and onto the ship.  They will usually take you to wherever you choose to wait for the rooms to be ready (buffet, lounge etc).  A tip is always appreciated.  There is a separate check in line for those needing assistance, no need to worry about the blue/green lanes.  I don't know if they will take your whole group of 15 so you may need to split up and set a place to meet on board. Happy cruising!

    Thank you for your help.

  4. Hello fellow cruisers,

This will be my first cruise out of San Francisco.  Do they have a special lounge or area for suite guest?

I will be traveling with a group of 15 people.  My mother has mobility issues.  She and I are in a penthouse suite.  Will they make her stand in line, or will they allow her to go inside and sit down before everyone else?  There is no way she can stand in a line for more than a few minutes.

Thank you in advance for your help.

First of all, they are Princess gift cards sold by AARP. AARP sells lots of gift cards for all sorts of businesses and none of them say AARP on them, just the name of the business for which they are for.

Go to the AARP.org website and log in if you're a member. If not, don't worry, you don't have to be.

In the upper right you'll see this:

    image.png.aa15e976379f55d7b600058709148a83.png

That's a link, click on it. If you're not logged in, you can now "Get Started". There you can register for a free AARP Rewards account. From there you can get to the main rewards page.

Here's the tricky part that trips up many first timers. You have to keep scrolling down until you get to a link that says:

    image.png.65d0ce69caf8ae58b65de6c407c10abd.png

Once there you can either search for "Princess" or just scroll down until you see the cards. They sell two kinds, a $100 card and a $500 card. You can only purchase 5 cards a month of any kind, i.e. if you buy 5 Home Depot cards, you can't buy any other kind of card until the next calendar month. People often register a spouse or significant other and then double their monthly allotment (we do).

It's also not completely obvious but the way to purchase multiple cards at once is to add a card to your "Cart" and then go to your cart where you can increase the quantity.

    I hope that helps.

    You the bestest!  Thank you!

If you wish. The serious people have tags on them with a cute poem and/or a facebook page or email to report that you found the duck; you then either leave it, keep it, or place it somewhere else on the ship.  I've only ever found two and I've left them both where I found them.

Thank you!  Sounds like fun.  I love Hide N Seek.

I meant put a fake minor in the cabin with you if needed for buying the drink package.  They can't make the minor buy one.  My husband passed away a few months ago and my TA was able to take him off without the booking getting repriced

Yes if you cancel the 2nd person, Royal will reprice you at today's rate.  That is why your TA said it is cheaper to just have the 2nd person No show at this time.

Also as stated, it cost nothing to change the 2nd persons name, so use the name of one your neighbors children and pick a birth date that corresponds to their approximate age (they are going to be a no show anyway)  that way you can buy the UBP for yourself and still collect the double points for cruising solo.

The minor child is actually a brilliant idea!  Thank you!

I am lost here, when you remove the 2nd person, naturally you will need to pay the single-rate. Did you mean you booked at a sales-price and the single-fare is more then what you were paying for 2 persons?

Honestly I'm not sure.  I can tell you that when I booked, it was considerably cheaper then it is now.

So maybe they will charge me today's rates?

Or put a minor in the stateroom with you.  I thought you could remove the second person without repricing the booking  @Ourusualbeach?

    Correct.

My TA called RC and they said they would reprice it.  I didn't understand why though.  I may have her call them back.

Also, I don't have a minor going with me.

  10. I am booked on the Allure in January of 2023.   I am taking my son and his GF.  I had a friend going with me to share my cabin.  (We have two cabins)  However, my friend has backed out.  I decided to not try to find anyone else to share my cabin.  My TA called RC and was told not to take my friend off and just have her as a no show because it would be cheaper.

Here is my problem.  I want to be a deluxe drink package.  But it is requiring me to buy for both myself and my friend.  I understand I can probably get a refund later.  But I don't have the money to buy both.  What do I do?  This is also an issue with my son and his GF.  My son is not a big drinker but his GF wants the package.  RC requires them to both buy it.  I get it to a certain point.  They don't want people sharing the package.  But at the same time, it would be a waste of money for my son.

Someone please give me some advice.

    Thank you!

If you booked through an agency, they may not participate in the program, and therefore you cannot make a bid.  And, of course, you will not receive an email.

And if you go to the link provided, it will tell you are not eligible.

Seriously?  I had no idea.  This RoyalUp stuff is all new to me since I last cruised.
