On the Regal in Vines we got 5 glasses of wine to go ....ie. They gave us the whole bottle opened so we could take it to the MDR. Or you can ask for a double pour and take it to the MDR in a glass. We are boarding Sky on Saturday, but not in Club Class this time, so we do not know if the MDR staff will go to Vines for us for a single glass. We often got a more expensive glass of wine and paid the difference from the beverage package. Hope this helps.
Thanks, this definitely helps! Love the idea about double pour so will try it tomorrow. Can't wait to get on board Regal.

White Pass and Yukon Railroad
Update -- A White Pass & Yukon Railway bridge went out during the last week of July due to a rockslide. Since that time, Yukon Railroad service has conducted an abbreviated round trip excursion to Mile 14. A new bridge replacement project is planned at Mile 15. Without the new bridge, you cannot complete the journey to the White Pass Summit at Mile 20.4. Plus, service to Fraser, Carcross, Bennett Lake and the Yukon Territory has been postponed until the 2022 summer season. Hope the new bridge is completed for the summer of 2022. Look for updates and plan accordingly. John
Wow, thanks for the update! I don't see anything on their website about the bridge being out. They don't have any summit or Bennett Lake trips available to be booked until end of May 2022, so maybe they're hoping thenew bridge wil be one by then.
Where did you find the info about the rockslide? Wondering if that would be a good source for updates in the future.
Appreciate that you provided this info, because I was thinking about buyting this excursion as a Christmas gift. Now I'll hold off.

Slim pickings on the by-the-glass selection in the MDR, probably still served in those cheesy stemmed water glasses. Instead of schlepping my wine into the DR from Vines, is it possible now to order from Vines via the medallion while you're in the DR?
Just can't understand why Princess doesn't fix their wine program in the MDR.
Curious about the answer to this question too. We board Regal on Thursday.

Thanks again Sid for taking us along on your trip!
We were on the Mardi a couple of months ago and didn't get to experience everything she has to offer either. I think I also suffered some type of malaise on the trip too. I was on the Horizon and Celebrity Equinox before Mardi Gras so maybe I was in cruise overload or getting tired of Carnival even though it had been over 2 years since my last cruise.
But then again, I didn't have the pressure like you of trying to report everything live. I'm trying to change it up with Princess later this week for my bday . I'm hoping that going on Virgin again will help snap you out of your funk since you had a great time on your 1st Virgin voyage. (especially if you skip the live review)
Take care of yourself! I keep telling myself that and it's slowly sinking in.

Call DINE line or PSD (Passenger Services Desk) after boarding. I'd also mention it to your HW (Head Waiter) for your DR section at dinner on night one. (S)he will no doubt take your name and cabin and pass it on to the DORO (new position for the MD).
Perfect! Thanks for the info!!

In my experience the WMD is not advertised - you just express the interest and if enough do, there you go.
Who should I tell that we're interested in the Winemaker dinner? We're definitely interested! We're doing a B2B starting Dec 9 to celebrate my birthday so this dinner would be a perfect gift!
Thanks,

I suggest you walk into town wander around the Inner Harbour area; perhaps visit the BC Museum; take a pickle boat around harbour. Then have lunch at one of the innumerable pubs in the area.
Thank you for these great suggestions for a nice relaxing day!

Hello!
We're on Carnival Alaska cruise stopping in Victoria, BC on Aug 16, 2022 from 8am - 2pm. None of the ship excursions look interesting, besides we like to do things ourselves.
Thought about maybe going to Public Market. Any must see places in the market?
Any other suggestions?
Appreciate your help!

l booked a cruise to Alaska for June.
Darn...we're going to Alaska in August. Would have loved to be like Jamman and go on "The Hunt for Saint Greg" and look for at all the bars for a guy traveling solo with a little stuffed monkey. And of course, wouldn't post any pics to respect his privacy.

Edited to add that Patti and I are ready to pull the trigger on a B2B on the Vista once she moves to Port Canaveral, so I'll be paying close attention.
When is Vista moving to Port Canaveral? We're in Jacksonville so it's an easy drive for us.
Sorry for the hijack Greg... always love reading you live reports and picking up tips for my cruises!!

Looking forward to this review as I haven't yet been on Legend, but, will be for 2 weeks next year on the partial Panama Canal transit. I know I'll like the layout as I really like the Pride but, interested in seeing some of the differences as I did find her dark.
We are also on a partial Panama Canal transit next year on Legend. We haven't been on a ship in the class so very excited to see a live review with pics.
Thanks for taking us along for your trip!!

Tracie-Lynn,
Thanks so much for starting this live review!
DH and I will board the day you disembark for our first B2B. I've already learned something from you...Concerto Dining Room is open on embarkation day. Can't wait to learn some more tips.
Love your writing style... can't wait to see what happens next!

Look at booking a tour with Chilkoot directly. We did their bus up train down....and the Chilkoot shuttle picked us up at the dock. Their private group tours hold approx. 12 people per bus....easy to book directly with them and get added to a group.
Thanks for the suggestion!

While I don't find the walk from any of the piers to the White Pass depot office difficult I don't have any mobility issues either. But if you book a WP&YRR excursion directly with your cruise line you will board the rail cars not at the depot, but essentially right beside your ship. Much, much closer than the depot. And while I haven't checked recently, the price for booking through the cruise line wasn't, at least in my opinion, that much more than booking directly with the SP&YRR.
Carnival offers an excursion to White Pass Summit, but I was looking at an independent excursion that goes to Lake Bennet in addition to the summit. So that's why we would need to get to the depot on our own.
If nobody else has any suggestions and I can't find a solution, I'll probably go with the ship tour.
Thanks for your help!

Our White Pass RR tour will put us back in Skagway at around 130pm.
I'm thinking about going on the White Pass RR tour in Aug 2022, but haven't booked yet.
It looks like we have to go to the White Pass Depot office to check-in for the tour which is too far away for my elderly MIL to walk. Are there any taxis, shuttles or any other forms of transportation to travel from pier to depot?

Yeah! Another Jamman and Patti review!
I saw your posts on Saint Greg's Live Panorama review and was anxiously waiting for you to begin this B2B review. Thank you for taking us along on your adventures!

This is probably a newbie question but couldn't find an answer...
I would like to book a massage now before Dec cruise, so I need to pay by credit card. Once I'm onboard, can I go to guest services and ask for refund to credit card and use OBC instead? I won't feel so guilty about the expensive massage if OBC pays for part of it. LOL
Thanks for your help!

Hello,
I'm hoping someone who recently cruised with Princess can tell me if the spa offered any discounts once onboard. On pre-covid Carnival cruises, they sometimes offered a discount on embarkation day and/or port days to encourage sales.
I received an email about receiving a 30%/20%/10% discount for 3 services, but only want a massage.
TIA
