  1. Hello!  We'll be in St. Thomas on Dec 5 when there are 4 ships in port.  We're on Carnival Magic which is the last ship to arrive at 11am.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a beach to go to on such a crowded day especially since the other ships arrive before us?  We were there on a land vacation in Sep and liked Magen's Bay, but concerned what it would be like with 4 ships in port.  They had a large part of the beach roped off for a ship's excursion but we want to do the excursion on our own to be in control if we want to leave early or late (ship departs at 7pm).

By the way, we need umbrella, chairs and prefer to have food/drink available.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

  2. We were at Bohio last May and are going again next week. I emailed the resort and was told they do not charge to enter. I emailed again this year because I couldnt remember if we were charged last year.

It is a very nice beach' date=' they have a bar, food, nice facilities . We got 2 chairs under the trees.

The cost of a taxi is $8 pp each way from the cruise terminal.

    Hope this helps.[/quote']

Yes, this is definitely helpful! I sent an email several months ago but never heard back so assumed they wouldn't let "walk up daytrippers in" since I saw excursion companies offering expensive trips to Bohio.

I saw a post and/or picture from several years ago that said there is a sign on the beach offering snorkel trips to the wall right off the beach. Could you please look to see if you can find a similar sign or see people taking advantage of it and report back? In fact I'd love to hear how your visit went and any feedback you might have. If you rather contact me privately, my email is dudemp52@comcast.net.

We're a group of 4 traveling the first week of Dec. 3 of us would love to go snorkeling (while the other hangs on the beach) so being able to leave for an hour snorkel trip from that beach would be awesome.

I appreciate any insight you have!

    Thanks!

  3. Yes. They have a charge. At one time was $10 per lounger, then you buy your own food and drinks. They do limit # of day guests, based on longer stay occupancy at the resort itself. So a bit unpredictable, but early is probably better. Great place.

Can you call them to make a reservation or just show up? I tried to find something about day guests on the Bohio website but it wasn't mentioned.

I saw 2 different private tour companies that offer a beach day at Bohio, but thought it was expensive.

    Thanks for your help!

  4. I'm also interested in suggestions since I'll be on the Caribbean Princess in April which departs at 10pm.

We'll also be in St. Thomas for a week in Sep on a land vacation at the Marriott Frenchman's Cove which just re-opened in Feb . We'll have a car so looking for restaurant and "things to do" suggestions anywhere on the island.

Thanks in advance for your recommendations!

  5. I think we paid a deposit, then paid the rest when we arrived. That was a year ago. It was a nice tour. We got to learn a lot about St. Thomas and enjoy the beach. The problem with St. Thomas is the people that live there that came from the US. They are very rude. Best liquor prices in St. Thomas.

    Hi!

Do you have any suggestions on where to go to find great liquor prices? I'll be there on a cruise in April and again in December.

    Thanks for your advice!:tropical-drink: :tropical-drink:

  6. Check out Rum Bus Beach.

Just opened and not yet "discovered" by T'erds (Towles and Herds).

Go before they ruin it. Book in advance out of courtesy, Rum Bus will appreciate it, you can then exchange on the advance reservation of "very best spot" for your a party.

All menu prices are shown in $, being EC$ not US$

Looked at their website and I'm definitely interested in visiting during my cruise next month. Do you know approximately the taxi cost and how long it will take to get their from whatever dock Princess uses?

Even though the prices are in EC$, will they accept cash US$ ? I also saw a tripadvisor review that mentioned a 12.5% surcharge on food and drinks. Is that a tax and/or tip?

Sorry to ask so many questions, but I hate carrying a lot of cash.

    Thanks for your insight!

  7. I read the Marriott vacation club reopened on Feb.16. We are going to St. Thomas, docking at Havensight, on March 7th on Regal Princess. I was considering going to Morningstar beach. Has anyone been there recently? Are there chairs and umbrellas for rent? Bathrooms? Food or Drinks? Thanks.

Hi! I'm going to the Marriott vacation club (Marriott Frenchman's Cove) in Sep and received an email today saying their neighbors Morningstar Marriott Beach resort and Marriott Frenchman's Reef are not expected to reopen until late 2019.

Sorry for the bad news :(

  8. We used White Sands and were happy. We did the Supreme Snorkel tour that went to a shallow reef, then to the wall, diving for conch and to Gibbs Cay for snorkeling with the stingrays. The guides took the conch and made fresh conch salad and we got to keep the shell as a souvenir.

    Thanks! I'll look into it.

  9. Hi everyone,

We have a group of 4 people cruising on the Carnival Magic that will be in San Juan on 12/6/18. We're interested in Carnival's zipline excursion that goes to Toro Verde Adventure Park which is home to "The Monster" which Guinness certified as the longest zipline worldwide.

Carnival's excursion cost is $150 per person, so I'd like to find a cheaper option with a private company.

Does anyone have a suggestion for a vendor?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

  10. Does the beach right beside the pier with the free loungers have any opportunities to buy drinks and/or food? I know I can find drinks and food if I keep walking towards Margaritaville and Jack's Shack, but wondering if I can stay close to the pier and ship

    Thanks!

  11. Don,

I'm looking at an independent operator (iguana mama) that offers 12 falls in 5 hours. It's cheaper than the ship excursion and offers 5 more falls. Their website says they typically leave 1 hour after arrival which means I would be back 2 hours for departure or 1 hour before all aboard. Check it out and see if it will work for you.

    Have fun!

  12. Hello,

We loved it! Yes, go to St John. We had rented an SUV you will need it if your driving yourself. You take to ferry over from Red Hook . We went to a bunch of beaches on St John. Go to Lindquist Beach, that is the beach where they filmed the commercial with the chick on the white horse. Such a beautiful beach and so private. It was down from Sapphire Beach.

They sell food at Sapphire, a lady cooks it quite expensive like 10 for a burger. If you walk up the hill to the restaurant/bar

you can get food and drinks as well. We went to Magans, Coki ( there is an aquarium and a petting turtle excursion ) my son 11 at the time loved it. Also went to Secret Harbor, pretty much all the beaches since we rented an SUV. Go to the point, it was nice and a little soviener shop. We mostly hung out on the beaches. Food is pretty expensive there, a case of water cost like 9.00. I want to go again, I loved it so much!!!! Enjoy, let me know some of your experiences. I have pictures, just need to find the time to figure how to post. If you stay at Sapphire, Stay at Chucks place right on the beach. Actually all the condos are right on the beach, price wasnt to bad for the week and the place was nice. I cant remember his name but I can look it up. We had a party of 6 with us. If its only 2-4 of you, there are nice places right on the beach. Im sure you know , since you have been. Beautiful, beautiful place..

    Hi Vicki,

Thanks so much for your response and sharing your experience! We will be a party of 4 adults staying in a Marriott timeshare on the beach. We're renting a SUV and planning to visit some different beaches, so thanks for the recommendations!

I haven't heard anything about the point before, but will now ask about it at the resort. And, thanks to your feedback, I definitely want to go over to St. John for a day now.

Can't wait to go visit St. Thomas and St. John! Hope you have the opportunity to go back soon too.

    Thanks again,

    Mary Jon

  13. That is how I discovered the island by cruise ship, we ended up going for a week vacation. Very nice place

to stay. If you have any questions, I may be of some help :) Love it, and hope to stay again sometime!

Ladybug1s - We enjoyed our day in port here too, so we're spending a week in St. Thomas in Sep 2018. Yes, I know both St. Thomas and St. John took big hits with the recent hurricanes, but expecting most of the islands to be "up and running" again 11 months afterwards.

Do you have any specific suggestions on restaurants, things to do and places to go? I'm already planning to go to Saphire and Magen's but wondering what else to do besides a beach. Did you go over to St. Johns? Any and all suggestions are appreciated!

    Thanks!

    Mary Jon

  14. Just disembarked Epic today in Rome.

    Hi Kidtechno,

I don't mean to hijack this thread, but do you remember what time the muster was held for those boarding in Rome? We'll be boarding on 6/1 around 3-3:30 and trying to figure out if we'll have time to grab a bite for lunch or not.

    Thanks!

    Mary Jon

  15. Hi!

Thanks so much for the review!

Do you remember what time NCL held the muster drill for people boarding in Rome? We're boarding the ship in Rome on June 1 and have heard conflicting reports.

We're also guests of CAS, so it was disappointing to hear about the casino manager. Maybe we'll get lucky and have a different guy on our cruise. :p

Thanks again for sharing your experiences with us!
