  1. I like the American concept of hump days (Wednesdays yes?). I have 22 hump days left. I am counting ever Wednesday until I retire because even when I have leave (vacation) from work, I won't completely switch off from it until I retire.

    22 sounds good :)

Well, I'm only counting the ones when I actually go to work so you will retire way before me. I have a summer vacation which I try not to think of teaching/ working/ common core...lol

  2. 356 days for me and hubby.

I'll retire with 32 years of law enforcement and he'll have 37 years with our local school district.

Now I just have to figure out where we will cruise to first after retirement. We're thinking about doing the 28 day Hawaii/Tahiti cruise.

Oh, that sounds like a nice one. I just booked a 10 day one for my retirement......geez...I might be a bit jealous!! No....just happy for all of us!!!:)))

  3. We are arriving into New Orleans airport on March 1st at 9:50 pm. I'm starting to freak out about getting transportation from airport to Hilton Riverside hotel because of the parades etc. Wondering if I should get a shuttle or just hope we can get a taxi. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

You picked a good hotel. Very close to cruise terminal and parades. There will be some parades that day that you can walk to safely. Go down Poydras and take a left on St. Charles. Ask for times or google info before you leave. Have fun!!!

  4. My husband and I put both of our kids through college so they don't have college loans. (We also paid for our own college ourselves.)Now it's our time!! However, like some of you, I have one working and already saving for his retirement and saving for their kid's education at 30. The other one has still not gotten her act together at almost 40. Not working, living on ex-husband's child support. Go figure!!

  5. As I have mentioned before, I have decided at that point, that I am NOT ready to retire, but when everyone knows my age, they THINK I should. Most people don't think I look as old as I am, which is good for me. HA

Are you ready for this.....my friend, since Kindergarden, she and I are taking a cruise together after 25 years. We took our first one 25 years ago, and now we plan to do the FOTS the end of April. :) As she said, who knows, this may be our last trip together. (In the past 25 years, I have taken at least 16 cruises, but with other people.)

Enjoy it!! I've got 2 planned right now...one in March and one in July.

  6. Bear...do you think, or know if the Getaway's deck plans and cabins are identical to the Breakaway??

The reason l'm asking is because I booked the one right next to the aft one Gambee had and was hoping for similar balcony space....deck 12... I think it is 12908...Gambees was 12906. It appears to be same cabin numbers in the same place on both ships. Thanks!

  7. Ziacruising, I have "twins" too. They are over 34, and then 11 years after having them, I had another son with the "same" husband. So I have "My Three Sons.":)

I am still working at a large corporate office and will be 71 next month, but I like my job, and would prefer working than staying at home, at least right now.

You do what you feel like you need to do. I'm sure your sons understand. I really like teaching but there is so much stress involved in it now, I am ready. Although, after a year from retiring we are allowed to go back and sub or take someone's sabbatical, which I wouldn't mind simply because I like teaching and there is the "no stress" factor involved.

  8. 355 more days, or

    8,520 more hours, or

    511,200 more minutes, or

    30,672,000 seconds, or.....

    50 more hump days:D

Sounds like about a year, give or take some seconds!;) I probably won't have mine that close until I call and confirm everything. I do know I have to work 86 days for the next school term starting in August. That's what they told me over the phone, but I definitely need that in writing!!!
