  1. Corner aft cabin # 7688 on the Explorer. Just came off the ship on Sunday Dec. 22. I loved this cabin and the large balcony. I even put up battery operated Christmas lights on the porthole of the balcony.

Was this a regular balcony room or a junior suite? That is an awesome balcony!!!

  2. I was reading some of the original postings on this thread that was started several years ago.

One thing that struck me is the number of people who put off until retirement all the things they want to do and places they want to see.

My best friend and I have been traveling together for more than 10 years. We take 2 or 3 trips each year, some land based, some cruises. I have 5 weeks paid time off each year, and having basically good health have used it almost all as vacation, not sick or mental health days as I see so many of our coworkers do.

I've said I like traveling now while I still have an income.

So retirement isn't going to increase my travels but will increase my time to enjoy other things.

One reason I travel so much now before I have retired is that my dad died shortly before he was supposed to retire of pancreatic cancer in his early 50's. So I had decided way back to fill up my bucket list real early!! So far so good!! Done many land trips, over 20 cruises, and I've been to Europe twice. I will be retiring at the end of 2014!! 29 weeks in teacher talk!!

  3. It's great if you can include a cabin # so people can find the pic when they search. I love that this has and old fashioned "screen" door! NOS is one of my fav ships, but never did the aft cabins.

The cabin number is 8690. We left that door open at night just to hear the waves of the ocean. Wish I were there now...lol

  4. Has anyone sailed 9404 on the Freedom Class ships? We are booked on the Freedom 9404 and found these photos. It looks interesting to say the least. I loves me an aft but not sure how I feel about the door going out to the balcony!

Ours was a door like that. It actually gave us more room inside. Also liked it because it kept out the morning light, but yours has a big window. That balcony does look nice!
