  1. We are doing our first river cruise next year, and I put a deposit down today. The price included free airfare. We board on 7/1/25, and the flight arrives the same day. Last year, we did a British Isles cruise, booked our own air, and spent four nights in London pre-cruise on our own. That's an option with this one, but with the free air, the cost of a pre-cruise stay with Viking is very expensive. So, it's a 14-night cruise starting in Budapest with an overnight stay, and I'm wondering if anyone has experience with using the cruise line airfare arriving the day of boarding the cruise.
  2. Same here - the Allianz plan has paid for itself a number of times. Just last year, our flight from the UK to the US was delayed by 6.5 hours, and the plan paid us $600.
  3. Not yet - it should be OK. I'm hoping we don't get noise from below us in the Spa check-in area. But, I think it will be OK. Which one do you have?
  4. We have 10028 on the Thanksgiving cruise on NA this year. Since it wasn't very much, we've taken the upgrade to Signature before (pre-Covid). The extra space is nice, but each has to figure out if it is worth it.
  5. Right - but for 17 nights, I figured we'd not take that chance.
  6. Issue solved: moved down one deck. Thanks for the help!
  7. From what I can tell, the area above us should all be carpeted. But I think I'll try to get something different to be sure.
  8. Hard to define - I agree. We did a UK cruise last summer with a connecting room. That I will not do again, for sure! The folks next door had two kids who watched TV and yelled until at least midnight each night.
  9. So, even under the carpeted area, it would be too noisy?
  10. We were given a cabin under the buffet on the Koningsdam. We have not been on this class before. I can't tell from the pictures if the eating area is carpeted or not. Can anyone let me know - thanks!
  11. I took my HT on a Disney cruise many years ago and attracted quite a crowd whenever we were arriving or leaving since I could hear the communications. I did not attempt to transmit. I know that some cruise lines specifically do not allow amateur radio equipment on board. The occasion above was my first and only time to bring a radio onboard, Rick, KQ4Y
  12. I really wish that Princess was more proactive about this. Often, at the buffet, there was no washy-washy person. It would also be a good idea to mention to those who may be feeling a little sick to be careful about washing and maybe wearing a mask. Instead, the rest of us are fighting off the germs that are being spewed everywhere. While this is better than our first round of the virus, I slept for two days straight and now just feel like I have a regular cold. My wife, who had already has a weakened immune system and long covid from round one in 2020, is still bedridden. I don't know-it was a great cruise until we got in the plane to come home. But, is it worth it to be jammed together with so many people in close quarters?
  13. Turn out it wasn’t a cold. We contracted Covid. I’m guessing there was a lot of it on the ship.
  14. We’re sitting at LHR as our flight is delayed about 5 hours. It was a very good trip but we both have colds now. There was so much coughing and sneezing on the tour busses that it was inevitable, I guess.

  16. We’ll be getting on the ship the day that you get off. Also in a mini suite on deck 15. I’ll be curious about the weather as it appears the previous cruise was cooler and wetter than some expected.
  17. A QR code showed up in the app today for our upcoming cruise. But there is only one, and my name is the only one on it. Should there be another one like there is for the airline,s or is the one code for all in the cabin? Thanks!
  18. We're on the Regal - 7/19. The app shows mine as shipped, but to pick up my wife's at the pier. Not sure why that would be. Not a big deal since we won't be home to get mine anyway!
  19. Right - I guess the name "Best of Paris" lets us know that it is a sampler. As long as we know that going in, we'll be fine with seeing a extra few sites on our last day - thanks!
  20. The city tour and cruise look good; maybe we should have booked it originally. It shows as sold out for our 7/19 cruise.
  21. We're on this one as well in a few weeks but are now having second thoughts. Other than the expensive snack, did you see enough to make it worth the trip?
