  1. I apologize, I misused per person per day, it is per day pricing. $10,600 for a cruise for my wife and I, which is $1200 per day, which is astronomical, especially compared to last years prices and comparing to current land based all-inclusive prices.
  2. I searched every cruise from July-November, organized price low to high, cheapest I found to somewhere warm was 1200. What’s the date on your cruise?
  3. For the record I meant 1200 per day per cabin, $600 pp pd. I can’t even imagine spending $24k on a cruise, and honestly can’t even think how to spend that much OBC.. congrats on retirement though!
  4. I did not notice that gratuities weren't included, that's a bummer..
  5. The mock booking's I've done over the last few days have been over warm itineraries next year, late summer through late fall, and have all shown the retreat at around 1200-1400 per day and MSC YC at 750-850 per day. Still a hard pill to swallow when you compare it to a land all-inclusive, but significantly cheaper than celebrity..
  6. Sailing in September to Alaska in a sunset veranda and got a move up offer email this morning. I’m considering the aqua class upgrade for access to blu, but wondering if I’ll lose my sunset veranda or if my status just gets bumped to aqua?
  7. I'm sitting here trying to plan out next year's vacation for my wife and I. We spoiled ourselves on our first celebrity cruise with a retreat booking and loved the overall experience. Next summer, however, everything is at least $1,200 per day, and that's for the "lower class" suites that don't get full retreat perks. I mean seriously, this has become absolutely ridiculous..
  8. It's the MSC Magnifica, thanks for your feedback!
  9. Hey all, I'm planning out next summer and looking at some various cruise lines, I've never sailed MSC before. I came across a really affordable 7 day cruise on MSC on a boat that doesn't have YC, and am trying to decide between the suite and the balcony. Room layout aside, what are the perks of booking a suite over a balcony. In this case it's $500 more pp. Thanks!
  10. Interestingly - I just did some mock bookings for next August and the butler is still listed as a perk for the sky suite
  11. Well this is disappointing news for sure. We hit gold with carnival then swapped to celebrity and booked a sky suite for our first time, which was an amazing experience. The retreat sundeck, the mini fridge in our room, luminae. We really didn't use our butler or consierge, however we did have our fridge stocked with beer and a fresh cold bottle of champagne in our suite every single night, which just made us feel like we were upper class and we were looking forward to that experience again. The sad thing is, prices everywhere have gone through the roof, even carnival. I did a few mock bookings this morning on various lines and found a few carnival cruises that were substantially more expensive once you include tips and drinks, norwegian haven was a bit more, plus you need to pay even more to get the premium drink package. MSC cruises only appear cheaper because they offer inside cabins in the yacht club - once you book a balcony they become obscenely expensive as well.
  12. Hey there, Just got the move-up email for our next cruise, $1400 to upgrade to a sunset sky suite for our 7 day (we're already in a sunset veranda). This will be our second celebrity cruise, the last one we booked a retreat on the summit and loved the experience. It would appear to me that the solstice does to have an exclusive deck space, so the only thing you're getting with the retreat on this ship is access to the lounge and the luminae? Can anyone weigh in on the overall retreat experience on the solstice? We loved the lounge and luminae, but honestly $1400 for just that experience doesn't seem worth it..
  13. Thank you all, I think I may give an 8 day a try. Our first cruise ever was on Carnival Imagination and it was a magical experience. 8 cruises later we just felt burnt out on Carnival, but their prices are still pretty good so we may give it a go.
  14. Nope, I wanted to know if the longer carnival cruises felt different than the shorter ones, as I explicitly stated in my original post.
  15. We reached gold on carnival, all 4-5 day cruises. By the end we were absolutely sick of carnival, rowdy, loud crowds, nearly identical experience (essentially the same ship layout, same menu, same entertainment choices), and we decided to venture off to the other lines. I'm planning out next year's cruise and looking at all the lines. I'm willing to consider carnival if it's a more chill experience and the larger boats feel different than the mid to smaller boats.. Thanks in advance..
  16. Holy crap, this actually worked and is convenient time wise and cheaper than any other option I've found! Thanks!
  17. Just to be clear for everyone saying "is it worth it". The flights from vancouver to my home during this weekend take-off at 10:30 PM, involve a 9+ hour overnight layover in an airport, then arrive the next day at my home airport between 2-3pm. That is absolutely atrocious.
  18. I’m sailing from Seattle and returning to Vancouver. The best option (price and timeline) for flights for me is to fly back out of BLI airport in Washington. Is it even possible to get a cab/Uber that crosses into America for Canada (we both have passports) thanks!
  19. All three of them list a landing and glacier walk in the description
  20. Hello, we're sailing to Alaska onboard the Solstice for the first time this year. I'm planning on splurging for one of the helicopter/glacier tour excursions and noticed there are three choices, two in Juneau and one in Skagway, ranging from $450/pp to $600/pp. Has anyone compared the 3? The 600 pp is listed as 4 hours where the other ones are 2, beyond that is it better scenery, a better experience, etc? Thanks!
  21. They took one of each of us when we arrived at the terminal even though we had our pics uploaded into the app well ahead of time. In talking to other passengers on board, they always retake pictures and there’s no point in uploading your pic to the app
  22. Just got off the summit, our first Celebrity cruise after reaching gold on carnival, and we were able to get a screaming deal on a retreat sky suite back when I booked it, and we were just blown away. Our butler AJ was amazing and super kind. We definitely didn’t use him for everything he was capable of, but everything we asked he took care of super quick! Luminae was absolutely astonishing. Kadek runs an amazingly friendly restaurant and we felt quite “fancy” every time we were in there. The food in there was some of the best food we’ve ever had in life! We also loved the retreat lounge, a fun little getaway on the ship that we usually hit before meals. The boat was clean, the staff was friendly, the room was amazing, and the retreat deck was exactly the type of environment we enjoy! We did not spend any time on the main deck beyond passing through, but we did use the solarium a few times and found both to be a step up from carnival in terms of the crowd and service. I’m not sure I’ll be able to afford a retreat again, but I will be constantly looking for deals on them and snag one if and when I can. We booked an Alaskan cruise while on board for next September in a sunset veranda, and I’m curious if I will be as blown away when I’m not a suite guest.
  23. I see there’s a feature in the app to unlock my stateroom door. Does this also work with my Apple Watch? I don’t ever carry my phone on the ship..
  24. Actually just tried to book it third party, it's $50 cheaper to book through celebrity..
