  1. I'm subscribing to this thread too, as I want to follow along to see how this develops. I have a reservation with =X= that I'd like to keep with =X=, but the additional TA OBC is hard to pass up. I haven't inquired about additional OBC from the TA yet, but the agency has been generous in the past.

  2. When you check your Credit Card details, do not be surprised to find a charge for any amount of the OBC (plus 5%) you took out that Celeb determines is not refundable.

I have found this to be true. I now spend all my leftover OBCs in the shops onboard.

Have you actually had your credit card charged for the OBC + 5% that you took out? I'm trying to figure out if anyone has actually experienced this or is it speculation about what may happen.

  3. Do this one with lunch. We were on the Silhouette last summer and it was the best excursion I have ever done in 8 cruises. The lunch alone was worth the price. We had salads , decanters of wine on the table, veal, chicken, contorni( vegetables grilled) , best coffe ever and limoncello cake to finish, the setting in the side of the Amalfi coast. Just beautiful.

Which excursion are you recommending? I'm not sure what you mean by this one.

    Thanks!

  4. Reporting in to update: We did sail in this cabin, our first non-balcony cabin ever on =X=. Found it to be a super light-filled oceanview cabin with a huge window. We loved the location because the cabin is off a corridor that is not noticeable, so there's not much foot-traffic in the area. Everything in the cabin was relatively new and shiny. The door to the cabin is perpendicular to the corridor, and while this gives you additional space inside the cabin, the space is not really very useful as it is just inside the door, sort of in front of the bathroom. If we book an oceanview cabin on the Constellation in the future, I'll definitely want this one.

    Bon voyage,

  5. Happy Cruiser, OuiOnboard in #5 post above on this thread suggested this might be true. I reposted in order to find out if anyone actually had experienced this, hoping it isn't so. Good to know in any case.

  6. If all or part of the the OBC is deemed by Celebrity to be an incentive that is non-refundable, then you may walk away and pocket the $300 cash leaving what appears on your shipboard account print out to be a $300 (plus 5%) charge...eating up your OBC. When you check your Credit Card details, do not be surprised to find a charge for any amount of the OBC (plus 5%) you took out that Celeb determines is not refundable.

Has anyone actually experienced a charge on your credit card for OBC+5% for nonrefundable OBC taken through the casino?

  7. Not sure if I'd want to pack a bucket in my luggage. I do wash out small and/or delicate items that I wouldn't want to trust to the ship's laundry. If the weather is warm, I clothespin the item to a hanger and hang it on our balcony on the bar behind the top of the chair. Since it's behind the chair, it can't be seen by others on the ship.

  8. pcur, could you point me to the document that specifies that Medicare Senior Advantage provides this:

Medicare Senior Advantage covers "fixed wing, rotary wing, and ground ambulance" anywhere in the world for a $100 copay.

I'm not at all taking issue with what you posted. I'm really interested in knowing about how this works as I've never heard anything about it.

  9. Check often to see if your cruise offers a military discount. The offer sometimes doesn't last for long, sometimes on hours. If you booked through a TA that's closed on weekends, take a screen shot of the military discount offer. The TA should be willing to check with =X=, and you will probably get the discount. Heads up!

  10. DH served the requisite amount of time and under the requisite conditions, and we have used the military discount several times. I think all that's needed is a DD-214; if you have that, you're eligible. We always take a copy of the DD-214 but have never been asked to show it at check in.

  11. The cloth shower curtain is of little consequence to us. We've learned to deal with it by sliding a bit of the side of it behind the door handle which keeps the thing from clinging to the ankles of the person in the shower. :p

I mentioned it because so many people who post here seem to get "wrapped around the axle" (a fave expression of DH) about cloth vs. glass in the shower.

The cloth curtain in 3112 appeared brand new.

  12. We had 3112 on the Constellation in the Baltics earlier this year. We usually book a veranda cabin. This was our first ocean view. I decided to book the ocean view because the cabins were new (about a year old at the time) and I wanted to check out the retrofit. 3112 is the most forward cabin in the new sequence, and the door opens perpendicular to the others along the corridor. This gives you several additional square feet of cabin space, which isn't really useful due to the configuration of the cabin, but it's nice to have a slightly larger cabin. The corridor is off the beaten track, so there's very little foot traffic, which is nice. Loved the spiffy new cabins--the window is huge, the lighting is great, however the shower curtain, unfortunately, is cloth not glass.

    Bon voyage
