  1. I'm a frequent checker too. Our cruise is now on the Tuesday Special/Exciting Deals link. We're booked through a TA who is closed on weekends. In the past if there is a price drop, I get a screen shot of the drop, the TA will contact =X= on Monday, and the drop has always been honored. Any advice about how to change from a C2 cabin to a CC cabin, which is now less than our C2? Not expecting $$$ back but would love to switch to a CC. Do I need to wait until Tuesday to contact the TA? I'm not at all sure about this process.

  2. Figured I'd probably find it after posting, and that's exactly what happened.

I'm reposting it here in case anyone else needs the information. If I recall correctly, this is what I was looking for:

"This list is posted frequently in this forum, so this seems a good place to lock it down."

Each of the following cabins on the Millennium Class ships (Millennium, Infinity, Constellation, Summit) has some particular benefit over its peers of the same class -- most often an oversized veranda, sometimes larger cabin or nicer decor. Not all of these differences are accurately reflected in any known deck plans.

    SS-6131,6132,6145,6146

    CC-9043,9038,9201,9164,9162,9160

    CC-8045,8046,8185,8176,8172,8170

    CC-7203,7212,7208,7206

    CC-6135,6136,6143,6144

    2A-8161,8146,9173,9138

    2B-7049,7080,7163,7166,7171,7173,7175,7177,7174,7176, 7178,7180

    2C- 6016,6018,6020,6021,6022,6023,6024,6025,6026,6027, 6029,6030,6031,6033,6035,6053,6048

Since the Infinity, Constellation, Millenium & Summit are all the same configuration, these cabins will apply to your cruise.

  3. Oh where is the search function? I need it right this minute. No kidding.

I thought I had saved a post from a week or so ago that listed all the best M Class cabins, class by class. I've tried hard to find that post by going back through all the posts to mid-January, but have not been successful. Can't find the information in a sticky either. There is a price drop on our Infinity cruise later this year, and I might like to upgrade. We're in a "Sweet 16" at the moment, which is fine, but I'd like to see if there's anything better available.

If you happen to know how to locate that thread and post, please post here! Thanks a bunch.

  4. Also was booked in one of the "new" OV cabins on the Constellation (our first time without a balcony) and upgraded to one of the "Sweet 16" cabins for a small rate increase. We've never experienced a Sweet 16 didn't want to pass up the opportunity.

    Bon voyage

  5. I don't know all the particulars, Cathy. Here's my experience: I usually book directly w Celebrity then transfer to a TA. I never remembered this perk until I booked my upcoming (yea) cruise last summer. I have never been offered the perk by the agent, but this time I phoned back and requested it. He changed my rate to the one of the lesser category. No problem, but it seems you have to ask for it.

  6. I saw a doctor twice on the Solstice last year and think I got excellent care. The staff were contracted. and everyone I saw (two different MDs and a couple of nurses) was from South Africa. I don't remember the charges, but I didn't feel they were excessive. Our insurance covers us outside the US, so they paid.

Patrick, your inflammatory arthritis may or may not be covered. It would probably be considered a pre-existing condition, any you may be able to buy insurance that would cover you should it flare up on the ship. I'm no insurance expert, so it would be a good idea to check. I think the staff at tripinsurancestore.com is excellent. I have no affiliation with the site other than that of satisfied customer.

  7. It may be wise to take a screen shot showing the lower price in case the price drop isn't there in the morning. You'll have a record for your TA. If the price drop disappears in the night (and they sometimes do), your TA will need a record that it did actually occur, and she/he will phone =X= on your behalf.

    Bon voyage

  8. Mel&Ken, one of our local television stations, the ABC affiliate, has a consumer reporter who often takes up a specific problem for a consumer and reports on the outcome. If there is someone similar in your area you may want to contact him/her and explain your plight. In case you are considering writing a letter, this reporter suggests keeping your explanation very succinct--four paragraphs, no more than one typewritten page, with lots of white showing. Please continue to keep us posted.

  9. Just a thought: An option to the buffet at lunch could be eating in the MDR. We've done that a couple of times on a TA just to provide a variety of experiences.

I've noticed the same thing as you about people in the buffet obliviously positioning the tongs back on the food in such a way that the part they've handled lands on the food.

    Thanks for your detailed posts.

  10. In the spirit of Halloween, I'm scared to check our two 2014 reservations.

Took a deep breath and went to the =X= website to check the status of our two reservations. One seems normal in that I could proceed to check in. The other shows this message: We are currently unable to process your request. Please try again later.

Hope they get their act together by April.

  11. Disaster!!! The (apparently one and only) electric orange juice squeezer is broken and needs a part to fix....so no fresh orange juice is available in the elite breakfast or elsewhere. However blu now has someone squeezing oranges using a hand juicer so they do have it available. Glad we booked aqua.

Uh-oh, disaster indeed! Hope the part is found and installed before we board the Infinity for her trip back across the Atlantic in April.

Keep up the good reporting, ghstudio.

  12. We used this service when the Solstice docked in Seattle in May 2012. We flew out on a Southwest flight. There was a place on the paperwork where you can list your baggage fee exemption (FF status, credit card affiliation, flight class, etc.) I held my breath at out home airport waiting for our bags to show up but all went smoothly. A great convenience, and I'd definitely do it again.
