If you have to gate check a bag, as opposed to valet checking it, e.g. flying on a regional jet, you will not pick it up at the next jet bridge and yes, it will get checked to your final destination, even if you are going to Turkey with maybe an exception. If you are connecting onto Turkish Airlines from a US airline that would definitely be the case, if you are only flying on Turkish, I am not positive.

Agree, I have noticed better service on ALL non-US airlines. I was on an 80 minute flight last week from CPT-JNB on Lift, an African low-cost carrier and we got a croissant for breakfast!!! Not much, but a lot better than you would get in coach, or probably first class, on any US airline on a flight that long.

Not a cockpit view, but I know on my QF A380 flights, there was a tail view, about the same, though you actually see the top of the aircraft as part of the view.
