  1. Where do you find crepes and gelato onboard? I don’t recall seeing crepes or gelato on the menu in YC. We’ve only cruised twice w/ MSC in YC so may have missed it.
  2. It was Punta Langosta when we were on Seashore in May.
  3. When we were aboard Seashore this past May, there were a couple reserved for the Owner’s/Royal Suites (marked with a sign) and the rest were first-come first-served.
  4. We were on Seashore in May and loungers in the shade were hard to come by during peak hours of mid morning until mid afternoon. Most times we could find some shade to sit and read in one of the areas with tables and chairs on the side and forward of the pool deck bar. We tried not to occupy those tables during peak breakfast/lunch hours if we were not eating so others could use them to have their breakfast/lunch. Later in the afternoon there were many shaded loungers on either side but aft of the bar/pool area.
  5. 2InfinityNBeyond, You are most welcome! Glad I could help and I wish you a speedy and complete recovery!
  6. Usually, but not always, it’s in the fall sometime. Like Sept/Oct timeframe.
  7. Trip insurance can be really complicated with all the various rules they have. I have used TripInsuranceStore/Steve for travel insurance for over 10 years. Steve has a lot of info on his website and blog. If you are not fit to travel on the day you purchase your insurance, your pre-existing condition would not be covered. Here is a link to his site where he discusses this exact topic. https://tripinsurancestore.com/how-travel-insurance-pre-existing-medical-conditions-coverage-works/ He and his staff are really knowledgable and very willing to answer questions! If you give them a call, they may be able to give you some advice on other options to pursue. I hope that things work out for you!
  8. Are the tolls the same heading in the other direction (Port Canaveral to MCO)?
  9. This is the email address to use: MSCVoyagersClub@msccruisesusa.com I have been going back and forth with them on a cruise we took in December. They do respond but very, very slowly. The last email I got from them showed promise in that they did give us 700 points each but, we were supposed to get 1500 each since we were in yacht club. Emailed them back and they agree that was an error and supposedly forwarded it on to a second level support team. That was 3 weeks ago and we’re still waiting!
  10. If you remember to check I would appreciate it! Even though we didn’t really use the butler much I would have tipped a bit more if I knew he was not covered at all by the included service fee.
  11. Hmmmmm… We did not receive a paper that said the service charge does not cover the Butler in YC for our cruise that we took in December. I also can’t find anything on the website that says this! In fact the website says individual tipping is discouraged. Not that we really used our butler for anything but just curious if they are really not included in the daily service fee. That being said, we did tip extra for our butler, assistant butler and a few in the YC lounge.
  12. Agree that MSC’s cancellation policy regarding the Yacht Club is pretty straight forward in that the deposit is non-refundable. I actually appreciate that because it prevents people from depositing and locking up multiple cabins on cruises that they don’t intend to take. However, what is clear as mud from their terms and conditions is the “One free change” conditions. I took the “within 90 days” condition to mean that you couldn’t push it out more than 90 days. Not that you couldn’t pull it back in to sail earlier 90 (or, for that matter, more) days. You would think taking your money earlier would be a good thing lol We just got caught by that. Had a cruise booked for November 2024 and wanted to pull it back to May 2024 to accommodate a January 2025 Explora cruise. Apparently you can’t do that. We did wind up booking the Explora cruise even though vacation time-wise it would have been nicer to space them out. Weirdly… Explora’s terms and conditions are very clear on the “One Free Change” terms! It’s up to 180 days after OR before your original sailing date. Same parent company but much better clarity on the terms! Edited to add…. Explora also clearly states how they will handle adjusting the price up or down on the new rescheduled cruise should you make a change.
  13. We are currently booked in YC on Seascape for Nov 2024. There is an Explora cruise that we saw and are interested in taking in Jan 2025 but would be too close, vacation time-wise, to our already booked MSC cruise. What we’d like to do is use our “one-time move” of our MSC non-refundable YC deposit to pull our Nov 2024 cruise back in to May 2024 and switch from YC on Seascape to YC on Seashore. Anyone know if this is possible? Also the May cruise is a little less $$ so would our final price be the going price for the May cruise or the higher price for the already booked Nov cruise? I have searched and all I can find is people wanting to move their date out to a future date and not a closer date from the date booked. Also from what I see on the MSC website they only discuss a change to different dates/itinerary but no mention of changing ships. I know MSC will have the final word on what is possible but we are relatively new to this cruiseline so would at least like to have some knowledge before I make the call. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
  14. Update…. I just checked my cruise booking details again this morning and the $50pp credit is now there! Thank you all so much for your suggestions! Now on to figuring out why our Voyager Club points from our mid-Dec sailing are not there! I’ve emailed mscvoyagersclub@msccruisesusa.com. We’ll see what happens!
  15. Thank you both for your responses! You have confirmed my suspicion that this needs to be resolved before boarding and provided a couple of ways to go about it. We are somewhat new to MSC and trying to learn the ropes!
  16. I booked a YC cruise for November and did not put in my Voyager’s Club number while booking. I (incorrectly) assumed that, since I was logged in to my account, the 5% discount + 5% for booking more than 6 months out *plus* the extra $50 pp OBC for being Gold Level and booking more than 9 months out would automatically be applied. It was not. I called the main MSC number and the agent did get the 5%+5% applied but said that he is unable to do $50pp OBC and that we could get the OBC applied at Customer Service once onboard. Does that sound correct or should I call back and press the issue? I just feel like this could turn into a bit of a fiasco once on board with customer service saying that it is a shore based issue that needed to be addressed before boarding. Thanks in advance for any advice you can provide.
  17. Nice review!! Completely agree with your assessment of the need for some change to the embarkation process. We sailed Dec 9-16 and the process went very smoothly until we got to the line to ring our cards through to get on the ship. There was no separate line and the poor butler had to ask people to step aside to let us pass. At one point a couple of passengers waiting in line purposely stepped over and blocked half of us from getting through! They had to send someone back to get them to move and retrieve the rest of the group. It got resolved but that awkward situation could be avoided with a bit better procedure. We had some pretty wild weather but it was a really great cruise overall!
  18. Looking to book an OT1 on Explora 2 for Jan 2025 during the current sale. Any thoughts on Deck 6 Mid vs Deck 7 Fwd/Aft cabins? Any issues with the restaurants (noise or other) under the Deck 6 cabins? Anyone know of cabins to avoid? I have tried searching but haven’t found much. Prior to this sale being brought to my attention I had never even heard of this cruise line so playing a bit of catch up! We have experience w/ Celebrity and are sailing on our first MSC cruise in YC this weekend but this seems like a completely different situation. Thanks in advance for any insight you can provide!
  19. Update… I did reach out to the Water Taxi people via FB messenger and they are not operating on Dec 16 due to the Christmas boat parade so we are rethinking our plans.
  20. Thank you both for your responses! Sounds like there wouldn’t be any place right near either hotel to actually watch the parade unless part of a private event. The walk to the church or park doesn’t look too bad! We’ve walked to Rocco’s before and it looks to be about the same distance give or take. I’m leaning toward getting off the ship early, checking in to our hotel, dropping off luggage and then doing the water taxi sightseeing well before the parade. Then we can play lunch/dinner options from there.
  21. We are thinking of staying one night post-cruise at either the Riverside or Hyatt Centric on 12/16. Just noticed that it is the night of the Christmas Boat Parade. How crazy does it get crowd-wise? Also does anyone know if it affects the water-taxi during the day? We were hoping to get off the ship, drop our luggage off at the hotel, have brunch and then maybe spend some time sight-seeing on the water taxi as we have in the past. Still possible/enjoyable with the boat parade or should we be making other plans? Thanks in advance for any info/advice!
