The theater the shows are in has some line of sight issues, so if good seats are important to you, go early. We like to check them out but are content with standing in the balcony.
Same with the comedy shows, if it's important to you, show up 15-25 minutes before the show starts.
We always try to plan our time so that we are not trying to do things at peak times. For example, if the ship docks at 8, 2/3rds of the ship will be at the lido buffet at 7:30. That = long lines. Hit the buffet at 7, and You'll walk right up

I will be on that ship and itinerary in March. I was on Vista last year. For advice on the ship I would say don't wait till the end if you want to experience the sky ride. I waited till the last sea day, but it was closed all day due to wind. You'll have a great time!

The Baked Alaska does look improved from the old version. Yum!

Your pictures are great. They are getting me excited for our turn on the Vista in a few (6) weeks. How was the onboard music? It looks like the band is Sweet Soul Six, or The Cove Duo?

Glad the pics are working now. Thank you for taking the time to do a review. We'll be on the Vista in 48 days for our first B2B

I am pretty specific about the cabins I book so I seldom consider upgrade offers. However I did get a decent offer today, but declined because we're doing a B2B and accepting would mean we aren't staying in the same cabin for both cruises

Our first B2B is just 55 days away. It will be onboard the Vista.

Thanks everyone. We did get the same cabin and in 56 days we will be back on the Vista for 14 days. It's a 6 day, then the 8 day. Only 1 of the 7 ports (La Romana) is new and Grand Turk we've been to many times, but the other 5, we have only been to once.

every thread I've read about this topic agrees that your steward moves your stuff. I guess if you prefer something different, you could discuss it with him/her beforehand

We'll be in these 3 ports in March. For Ocho Rios we were thinking of doing the falls and Mystic Mountain on our own by just grabbing a cab.

Vista was the only ship I was on in 2017. We booked a b2b on her for 2018, so that shows how much we liked her!

I think the baked goods at the coffee shop are a good value. My wife gets a slice of carrot cake every cruise.

for what it's worth, on the sister ship breeze, the free sauna was in the lockerroom

Looks like the consensus is Horizon, I would have said that also. No repeat ports and I would always pick 6 days over 5!

I would advise to go with Caribbean ports over Bahamas. I think St Thomas/St. Marten/Grand Turk itineraries are ideal for a first time as they are safe and have loads of activities and options close to the port.

I cant imagine keeping that from my DW or her keeping it from me. I'm sure you know what you're doing (he is your husband after all) but a surprise like that would drive me insane!
Good luck keeping it hidden and I hope no one blows your cover and ruins your surprise!

I'll let you know in about 256 days! My plan for my first B2B is to relax and get a good spot to watch the arrival of the new passengers, like maybe the orange chairs on deck 11 overlooking the pool (Vista).
The boarding process (getting from the hotel/airport to the ship, having all the documents ready, wondering if my luggage will make it ok, unpacking etc.) can be tiring. I am looking forward to just being relaxed on that day.
I'm also excited to see how the atmosphere is different from week to week.

On my second cruise I learned that a lot of the petty annoyances I had the first time could be avoided with a little pre planning.
I also learned cruising was my vacation of choice and that I cannot live without at least one per year.

We changed our room from 10288 to 11267 after reading about all the noise, we are hoping it will be much better.
We have that room booked as well. I was concerned with Deck 10 mid ship cabins due to the theater, but I was hoping the additional deck of separation would filter out most of the noise/vibration issues.
This is an old thread so I am curious if any recent cruisers can provide feedback on if they experienced noise issues in Deck 11 Mid-ship inside cabins.

I love this thread. We have our first B2B booked on the Vista in March. Cannot wait!

The BBQ on 5 was open and not crowded when we boarded Vista in Feb.
Booked Carnival Vista 8-day Southern Cruise 6/2-10

We dont travel with kids so our agendas may be different but for GT it's simply a beach day. when you get through the duty free shop, the action is to the left, but we go right for a quieter experience.
We've never been to La Romana so we are going with a carnival excursion (For the first time).
In Aruba and Curacao, we found island tours on the pier then when they were over, did some shopping. This time around, we'll do a beach in Aruba and walk and shop in Curacao.
