  1. Thanks for your cruise summary. What is on the Wall St pizza? I usually get the Central Park one so cannot remember the others!

interesting that you had to rush through Panama. DH was in Panama in early Oct and apparently there were road blocks here and there as people protested high prices. Seems to be what the locals do to get attention to a concern! Although I agree that missing Colon isn't a big deal.

  2. I'm glad to see Rubyfisch's account of the tea on Zuiderdam; it means that some ships get it right. Or at least better. Koningsdam's was not great on our Inside Passage Alaska cruise either. They poured tea once and never came back. The food was very bland, the sandwiches in particular were pretty bad. The only thing that had taste was the little chocolate cupcake. It was very crowded too that day, probably because the weather was cool and rainy, so no one wanted to go outside. That may have contributed to the poor service, but it doesn't excuse the food. The food elsewhere during the cruise was good so not sure what happened with the tea.

The event was listed as Afternoon Tea in the daily program, at 3 pm on sea days (including Glacier Bay).

  3. I have always pre-ordered bouquets and received them every time. Most recent one was in June of this year. There is an option to also order them onboard!

There are also lots of flowers on display in common areas on HAL ships, one of the things we really like. Hope you enjoy them, too!

  4. We find the beds to be small in non-suite cabins. The 2 "twins" do not make up to the size of a true king, like the one we have at home. DH also uses CPAP and likes to separate the beds on ships. If you can put one "twin" against a wall, it works better to fight the feeling of falling out! Sometimes the bedside tables aren't in the best spot for that. The pullout sofa beds aren't bad, they seem wider and don't have the "fallout" feeling. But of course the noise is hard to muffle regardless of where you sleep.

I cannot be sure but I thought they were bigger years ago. We aren't THAT much bigger now!

Is the consensus that it's better to wait until onboard to get flowers?

I think I will try it next time. We've always liked the bouquets, but I only remember getting exactly what the pre-order photo showed, once. I guess it can vary with fresh stock and what they can get for each sailing, so you never know. Same for the vases. Once on board, they can only offer what they actually have! At least that's my assumption.
