  1. Yikes, that should never have left the kitchen! Ravioli shouldn't look like soup..
  2. If it's lunch, the only thing I recall is ravioli, but I thought it was with mushrooms?
  3. You are twice lucky- free cruise and nice upgrade!! Please tell me what numbers to pick on my next lotto ticket!!..
  4. Thanks! I wasn't aware of this. I'll have to check if they ship to Canada. Affordably. Although I imagine it will be cheaper than a cruise..
  5. Sounds like a fun adventure so far! You will love Rotterdam. Not sure what cabin type you're used to, but the Family OV has terrific storage space if you are just 2 people. If you are on deck 1 mid to aft, we found it is super convenient for both MDR and CO dining room. Also a good location for the gangway midship, and atrium. Have a great cruise!
  6. Has anyone ever bought a bag of Signature Rotterdam 1873 coffee beans while on board any HAL ship? I ask because on our Koningsdam cruise recently, I could see the bags on display in Dutch Cafe, but when I asked to buy one, I was told that they had no way to sell them. It sounded like there wasn't a SKU in the POS, but she was kind of vague as to why! I know you can buy the Coffee Lovers package pre-cruise, but that includes a beverage card and 2 mugs that I don't really need! Obviously not an earth-shattering problem, but I am curious. The coffee is very nice.
  7. Yes it is good- have had it on other ships so I'm glad to hear Noordam keeps up the tradition! I find that all of the soups are good to very good- we pretty much always order a soup at dinner!
  8. The "brown building" offerings look unbelievably good!! The round bread reminds me of the dellcious round breads Mom used to bake. She used large juice tins to get the shape! She's 100 now so no more bread.. So glad the food ashore continues to delight you!
  9. I wouldn't worry about bringing slacks if you don't think they would get worn much. Nice jeans are ok- but no shorts at night in dining rooms. And top it off with a collared shirt (like a polo), for the gents, and for yourself a scarf and cardigan, would be fine. Alaska cruises tend to be a little more casual. Don't stress now- just go and explore and enjoy!!
  10. Thank you, I was wondering about deli sandwiches , as we quite like NY Deli on the Pinnacles! (Hope you are feeling better, I enjoyed your review)!
  11. Thank you! A sugar bomb treat with coffee sounds alright to me. But I hope Dive-In is still good; as long as they don't mess with my Backflip chicken burger, I'll be fine!
  12. Thanks, OlsSalt! It sounds like I will just "serve all snacking needs" at the Lido! (Love that phrase🙂). Plus the great fries at Dive-In.
  13. There are so many great things mentioned already, so I will just add a small thing I like: the rolled hand towels in the washrooms! Plus the flower (usually an orchid). It just adds a little touch of elegance, that is far superior to paper towels or blow dryers!
  14. Of course everyone has their favourites, but I think it's great that HAL gets 2 mentions!
  15. We have been on the Noordam, but many years ago; can someone with more recent experience comment on the food offerings at Explorations Cafe and Lido sandwiches? We enjoyed the NY Deli and Dutch Cafe on RDam and KDam, so just wondering what we could expect for deli style sandwiches and various Dutch treats? I know it won't be the same, but maybe there are some other things to look forward to? I see Dive-In is there, so that is good.
  16. No advantage, unfortunately. I've done the beverage card and just adding some shipboard credit. Using OBC , I found, was better. It was a nuisance having to get them to scan the separate card and keep track of the remaining balance.
  17. It seems that it is picking up 3 participants somehow.. have you cleared your cart like a million times already trying to fix it?!
  18. Velvet and how! Beautiful scenery. And the basalt formations are so interesting to look at!
  19. Pet peeve is the bedding and bed. We hate the too hot duvet - prefer sheets and a light blanket, which is getting harder for the steward to find. (Last cruise, the blanket he found had a hole in it). Also, 2 twin beds make a king, not a queen size bed. Except on ships! The beds are too narrow.
