  1. 3 Weeks ago we arrived at 10 am. They let us in the building at 10:30. We were on the ship at 11:45. They would NOT allow you to go to your room until 1PM. They had all the emergency doors shut so you could not get to your room.

  2. Yes.

You will get the form to sign up early in the cruise. Return it ASAP to the designated Desk. You may need to show them your flight confirmation.

When you disembarkation labels arrive, they will be for this service.

You should also get the last evening your flight boarding passes.

Remember that not all airlines participate and at FLL the flights cannot be before 11:30 AM.

The Form says your flight has to be after 11:30. Our flight was at 11:15. We were Flying Southwest. We went to the passenger service desk and asked if there was any way we could do it since our flight was so close to the 11:30 deadline. They told us to fill out the paperwork and see what happens. She said it was up to the airline. We filled it out and we were accepted. So if your flight time is close to 11:30 it doesn't hurt to try.

  3. All Princess passengers can go to their cabins upon boarding. No need for FTTF. Priority is given to full suite, Platinum and Elite passengers who do board first but general boarding starts immediately afterwards. General boarding is based on first come, first to board so the earlier you get there, the earlier you can board.

Boarding usually starts some time between 11:30-Noon. If you're in the waiting area, you'll probably be in your cabin and ready to start your cruise in about half an hour, or less, after boarding starts.

When we obtained our cruise cards on 2/15 for our cruise on the Regal, we were given a piece of paper that said rooms would not be available until 1 PM. After lunch at 12:45 we tried to get to our room. They had the fire doors shut so no one could get to their rooms. At 1 PM they were opened. First time I have seen this.

  4. My experience has been that disembarkation usually starts about an hour after the ship arrives in port. So if your documents say that you arrive at 7:00, plan on an 8:00 start time. That's if everything goes according to plan, though. On our recent Crown Princess cruise Express 1 (first walk-off tags) didn't start until 9:00 or so, and our 9:20 time was more like 11:00. That was one of only a few times I've ever seen that happen, so don't let it worry you unduly, but do plan to be among the first to leave the ship.

I hope we don't have that problem. I have excucar reserved for 8:30. Our flight is at 1:15 so if we didn't get off the ship until 11 I think we would be in trouble.

    Thanks for your input....

  5. We also favor the Early Bird check in. We only purchase it for one of us and that one saves a seat for the other. Gotta save wherever we can :D

Unless you buy separate tickets, if you buy one early board check in you have to buy it for each ticket you are buying. You can't buy just one. You are also not allowed to save seats.

  6. We always book the Riviera deck in the back of the ship. Close to pool, bar and buffet is one flight up. A lot of people are against booking so high because they think there is a lot of noise from above. That's not the case. Very rarely hear anything.

  7. I hope by the time we cruise on Feb 15th they do away with the staggered boarding. We have to leave hotel by 11 am and our deck doesn't board until 1:30. What do they expect u to do. We have preferred boarding but don't know what that does for u with staggered boarding. We normally arrive at port by 10 am. I know I have seen them say staggered boarding before and they never went by it. I think a lot of times they have said staggered boarding to keep everyone from showing up at the same time.

  8. We used the mid-ship elevators with no problems during non-peak times, and used the forward elevators to go up to the Retreat Pool. We used the forward stairs to go to the Princess theater. We used the aft elevators to go to Horizon or directly to the aft pool on the 17th floor. There was no need to go through the gym.

    Here are the pools.

The Aft pool is a joke !!!!

  9. If you had told me prior to my last cruise (#100 for me) I would have told you that it is not possible for the casino to change the slot odds. Hence I would have argued with those of you that said "play the slots early in the cruise as they throw a switch and change the odds later". I can now say that they can and did on my last cruise. I own about 15 antique slot machines and do have an idea of how they work. With the newer computer run machines using a RNG I was not sure. Anyhow, as the cruise started, I found a $1 machine and started playing. Over the first couple of days I was having "fantastic" luck, hitting 6 or 7 combinations that paid over $500 each. Never the bigger jackpots which were in the $2K to 6K range. My system is to set a high and low point for myself for each session. i.e. If I get ahead $300 or lose $300 I will quit for the day. All was going along very well until the 4th or 5th day when I hit a $720 pay out and within 5 minutes hit another $720. At this point the machine locked up. as they will do when a "hand pay" is required. My total credit at that time should have been around $1500. The machine showed $782 and was told by the Casino manager that since the total was over $1200 it had to be a hand pay. OK-I understand that for tax purposes so was not concerned as I have gone through that process a few times. Now casino management and host came out with cameras and started taking pictures of the machine. Next came the host with some form of instruction sheet and they started working on the machine. I know that it is possible with computer machines it is possible to go back and trace the payout records of a particular machine as well as checking to see if the player might have found a way to "cheat". After 25-30 minutes of much button pushing and number checking they put the machine back into play. OK in 5 days I had hit about 10-15 pays of over $200 each and never reaching my "low", quit for the day. Each session I was able to hit my "high and quit. From that point on (next 6 days) I played around $30K through the machine and my I had only one payout of over $100. No, I did not lose $30K but I easily put all of the previous winning back and then some. On the last day I asked the casino host about having had to fix the machine and his only action was to point to the sign that said "Machine malfunction cancels all pays and plays" and smile.

They may not be able to just throw a switch but they can (AND DO) change the odds.

Your thread is not the easiest one I have read to follow...

You say you quit after either losing or winning $300 in one day. So why did you keep playing after you won $720 if you say you quit winning after you have win $300 for the day??

  10. There is shade around all the circumference of the Fountain and Plunge pool. It is not on the edge of the pools however. You can find shade on the Lido and Sun decks, but it will not be right at the pools.:D

There are pics in my Royal review. The shade is in the same locations on the Regal. :D

As far as I know, there is not an Aft pool on the Royal yet, like there on the Regal....

  11. I use the Amex Blue cash card that gives me 6% for all groceries and 3% for all gas. that is all I use that card for, then I use it to charge my FCC on board. then my cash back pays for my FCC. I also have the American Airlines card that Pam mentioned for generating points for Flights..( note you can book 1st class flights for the same points as economy seats if you book early in advance). then I use an AMEX SGP card to generate points for hotels, this card gets you $400 rooms for as low as 10000 points. Compare that to what someone said above that 40000 points got them a $500 OBC, 40000 points got me 4 nites at the Westin Beach Hotel in Feb. note you can also transfer the SPG points to Airlines on a 1 for 1 basis if you need to.

In my opinion, tha AMEX SPG card is the best card out there.

A friend of mine claims having the Princess card allows him to have preferred boarding. Does anyone know if this is true?? I don't believe it.
