  1. My Wife and I are planning on Cruising on the Norwegian Spirit in August in the Mediterranean. We normally like to get an Aft Balcony, but, the Spirit only has Suites on the back of Deck 9. So, we are interested in a Balcony on Deck 10.

Does anybody have any information on a Balcony Room on the 10th floor ?

Are they all the same size ? Is there a bigger one ? Is there a better location ? We do tend to like the aft of the ship, but, is there something better about the front of the ship ?

Anyway, if anybody has any information or photos, we sure would appreciate it !

    Thanks in advance,

    Dave & Lee

  2. The cabins with full length windows are actually forward on Lido deck, L303 through L308 and are almost 40 sq ft larger than a typical ocean view. These cabins are essentially the same as S702 and S704 on the Golden, except on the Golden these cabins are fitted out like the adjacent suites wth marble counters and nicer wall coverings. They are typically just a few dollars less than the cheapest balcony.

So it seems like L303 to L308 have full length windows. They're not Aft, but, center. Has anyone actually stayed in these rooms ? Are they actually floor to ceiling windows ? Any help would be appreciated.

  3. So, again, I'm pretty easy going, but, if I book a room that says 308 sq ft and it's only 233(or whatever), about 75 sq ft less, about 75% less than it's advertised, I guess, I'm going to be asking for some type of credit !! Does that seem unreasonable ?. I would want a credit of 25% of what I payed !!

  4. I don't know, look around, we're so blessed to be going on Cruises and Vacations. With all the problems in the World, I never complain about anything. I see a lot of rude people on Cruises that don't treat the staff very well, I believe you get what you give !! Please and thank you goes a long way to be treated well. I'm not accusing anybody, but, try to put yourself in the staff 's position. Overworked and underpaid, try to give them a break.

  5. So, lets move this thread in a slightly different direction. Over a lifetime we have learned that most folks will ignore rude folks and just move on with whatever they were doing. We have long thought that many folks who are constantly rude...act that way because nobody has ever told them they are rude :). But sometimes it can be fun to be a little assertive with these nasty folks. A few cruises ago we were waiting at the breakfast Eggs Benedict station (on HAL) and witnessed an elderly lady (probably mid 80s) being very rude and nasty to the cook who was trying to do everything to her very exacting specifications. After making the poor cook toss away 2 plates of eggs (not exact to her specifications) she finally accepted the plate and turned to walk away. I quickly said (loud enough so the lady heard) "she meant to say thank you!" The cook broke into a big smile (with a nod and wink), the lady gave me a dirty look, and she stomped off (yes, even some folks at that age can stomp). I know the cook felt better...and I was laughing to myself for hours.

Thank you very much !! How hard is it to be nice to the staff, let alone everybody in general ? Am I the only one that says please and thank you to everybody !! I went to a Basketball game last night and the guy in front of me actually said excuse me and thank you for crossing in front of the people he passed !! Wow, am I the only one that does that ? And him too !!

  6. That wouldn't work with me.

    Harry

1st of all thank you for your service in the Military !! Thank you very much !! But, why wouldn't that work for you ? Big deal ! Who cares, move over somewhere else !! Why make a big deal of it ? I treat everyone the way I would like to be treated !! You know what, it works, you get what you give !! There aren't enough please and thank yous to go around !! I'm appreciative of anyone that does something for me ! I let them know it, too !! Chill out !! We are so lucky, 99.9999% of the people in the world wish they could be us, but, no, so many people have to be mean and demean people below them ! I guess, it makes that feel like they're more them they are !! I feel sad for them !

  7. Tony, it's you! We're kind of like mirror images. We get what we put out. I know that when I'm cranky, the world is cranky. When I walk around with a smile on my face and a lilt in my step, the world responds likewise.

I know, I know sounds pretty pollyannish but I've found it's especially true onboard a cruise ship.

I truly treat people the way I like to be treated, you get what you give. It works for me ! And Roz, I'd have to say you're probaby a rude person ! If you say you're cranky at times, then guess what, that's what you're giving out, you should get it back. And cranky, what do you have to be cranky about ? Those of us who get to cruise, how lucky are we ? 99% of the people in the world wish they were so lucky !!

  8. This is our first cruise. We are stoppibg at Juneau 1st and we are going to take ground transportation to Mendenhall Glacier. Probably will hike to a couple of teh ice caverns. Anyone else have good things to do here. Not sure how much time we have but want to see as much as possible.

3rd stop is skagway. Here we are on a waitlist for a boat trip to see bears etc. This is the important one. Does anyone have other great things to do as a back up in case we do not get on the excursion? Car rental to explore maybe? Places to explore? My wife is a wildlife photographer and that would be our main goal is to find great habitats. I looked at maybe renting a boat but looks like that may not be a good idea.

Last question... We will be at glacier bay.. We have an aft side cabin with balcony. Is view better from deck or would a relaxing morning be better on our balcony with some coffee. I heard that the deck can be very crowded.

Any how any help would be awsome.. Hope to see some of you there.

    Hi,

We were on the Norwegian Jewel in May for our 1st Trip to Alaska and were lucky enough to have perfect weather the whole time.

In Juneau we walked around town then took a tour with Panhandle Excursion thru Monty. They were in Town where the bus from the ship drops you off. It was a combination Whale-Watching and out to Mendenhall Glacier for around $100. It was a great time !

In Skagway we took a ship Tour Bus ride all the way to Caribou Crossing. Several hours and stops along the way including lunch. Then back on the Train, it was great ! A great day, a little pricey at about $200 each, but, we got our money's worth. Easy 5 or 6 hours.

In Ketchikan we did the Misty Fjords Boat Cruise, 4 or 5 hours for $200 each, pricey, but a Great day.

    Hopes this helps.

    Dave and Leona
