  1. Thanks Mura. My husband is 196cm (6'5") - I am not going to tell him that the shower will be a little tight. Eek! As for getting a penthouse - we have already paid for that but are only in veranda - Canadian exchange rate not so great.

  2. Really hope that you learned that your TA is fairly useless. While some TA's are great for some trip, if they have not booked several cruises on Oceania, they cannot help you. While I find calling Oceania to be a second choice (my first choice is a TA that regularly books Oceania as they are a wealth of information), it is better to call Oceania than to have a useless TA.

P.S. I am astounded that you have a TA that does not work on Fridays.

It is very hard to find a good TA when you don't know of any. That will be my number one priority when on my first Oceania cruise in August - to finally find out who are the number one travel agents.:)

  3. I did this myself online through Oceania's website and ended up with a $700 credit. I had booked my first 10 excursions and their online system did not adjust the cost. I then booked one more at the full price and then added three more at a different time. The price never went down so I called Oceania (and I do have a TA) and they manually adjusted the price. It worked out that my last three I didn't have to pay any more. Bottom line just phone Oceania directly and get them to do it. For some reason their online excursion system does not work properly.

  4. Well I didn't want to hear any more about the "noro ship" and was purposely not reading that other thread. I am glad I read this one and I am glad you spelled out exactly what you went through. I definitely would not report to the ship's doctor after the way you were treated. You would have thought Oceania would have provided better food for you than the typical room service - well you actually didn't even get the typical room service food. We would quarantine ourselves. I would not leave my room until I was okay to do so including who I was travelling with. I understand now what the people on Riviera went through. Thanks!

  5. I am also proned to motion sickness - I even get it when I am snorkelling. What a pain that is. I don't think I will have a problem in an inside as long as it is not near any loud noises. My husband on the other hand doesn't think he wants to travel in the closet. He will go along with me and we will give it a try.

  6. Thanks for your input everyone! We will be in a balcony this summer on Insignia but I have been thinking about a world cruise so I thought we would try an inside in March. We were in a mini suite on Princess and it was noisy constantly. We must have been near something may be it was a generator. Very annoying - so I am kind of leary of "white spaces" on deck plans.

    Thanks

  7. Thank you for all your comments. The review I read was on the Riviera, inside G that the person said they were adjacent to a generator area. It was noisy for 12 hours a day. On the deck plans to has blank white space so I was curious as to what was in that area.

  8. I am thinking of booking an inside cabin and could only find one review. It is said it was across from of a generator area and the cabin had noise in it for 12 hours a day. Does anyone have any personal experience in an inside cabin that can give some information on what to expect.

    Thank you!

  9. I wonder what is causing the problem on this ship! So strange after all Oceania has done to eradicate it.

I am so looking forward to your website report on this trip. With all your fantastic pictures, menus etc. Can't wait!!!

  10. Hi Terri- I believe were on the same cruise London to Rome Aug 9-28/2016 and I see that you mentioned that you had booked your transfer from Rome already. If you are interested we would like to share the transfer with you - if you are going to the airport. I did mention on our roll call a few weeks ago that I was interested in sharing the transfer in Rome - no one responded.

    Thanks

  11. Thank you Paulchill for the information. This was my first time using a travel agent as we have only been on 3 other cruises. It is has been quite frustrating not dealing with things for myself. Also not getting accurate information most of the time, unless I persist in getting this person to ask Oceania again and again.

  12. I am going on Insignia August 9-28 London to Rome and have booked 13 excursions with Oceania. Five were the free excursions from Oceania and eight are ones I have paid for. If I cancel an excursion can I get a refund? My travel agent says that I received a package and discount and that when on board the ship I would not be able to get a refund. If however, it is before the cruise I could get a full refund for the excursions. This is my first cruise with Oceania so I am not sure what actually is correct. I really don't trust my travel agent all that much - unfortunately.

    Thanks
