  1. Remember that ship volume is a geometric measure and not just a linear multiplication. So the increase in tonnage way outweighs the extra 200ish passengers. Add in an additional specialty restaurant or two. Increase the entertainment spaces. Add a few “quiet” retreats. Etc. The real question for Oceania lovers is if they can keep the attentive and friendly staff while maintaining the epicurean quality. We have cruised Vista twice (and all other ships except Insignia at least twice) and while we miss Jacques we found the addition of the Bakery, Embers and Aquamar Kitchen kept us happy.
  2. Our first Allura cruise would also be our Platinum/complimentary cruise. Will be on the Vista when these are announced.
  3. Does it only work with the room key? Or will inserting another card activate it?
  4. How was the show. Being of the early to bed crowd, we’ve been on Oceania for about 250 nights. We’ve maybe seen 3 full shows. Wish O would do early shows on at sea days.
  5. Think it’s one USB-A and one USB-C type plugs.
  6. Didn’t know they improved the lighting in the Riviera closets. Have spent many weeks with the closets before.
  7. The dressing room aspect of the old PH walk-in closets is not so good. Low intensity lighting plus no mirror inside does not a good dressing room make.
  8. Must disagree. The walk-in closet on the Marina and Riviera are dark, and no larger in utility than the Vista’s 2 closets. With the mirror in between and the ceiling lighting they seem airy, with lots of room. Perhaps not as much floor space but certainly lots of long and medium hanger space. Look forward to using them on May 20th.
  9. Hope that the Lynx center will offer some how-to courses, like how to make a video with multiple takes, etc.
  10. We use Tripit Pro for all our trips. When we get the reservation from Oceania we forward it to plans@tripit.com. It recognizes or email address and imports it into a cruise trip folder. We can also forward the email reservations or confirmations for the airlines and hotels and VOILA it's all there. I have to manually edit in our Oceania excursions but that's a.pretty easy copy and paste. Same for the Specialty Dining reservations. Nice thing about Tripit is it's easy to search previous trips for hotels, restaurants etc we did in the past. Tripit will also monitor your flights and advice of changes or alternatives.
  11. I think there is a lot of make work, or featherbedding, jobs in India. Once when we got off the Nautica in Mumbai we of course went through several sets of paper inspections before we left that sprawling and remarkably ugly port for our excursion. When asked for my passport I mistakenly offered Kate's. The official looked at her picture in it and then at me and let me through. even though I'm not blonde or in anyway similar. Did the same for Kate while looking at my picture. Obviously didn't care at all. But he had a paycheck. Only time we all had to get off the ship was in Haifa during COVID times.
  12. happens frequently, whenever they are updating the website. Just exit that page, wait a half hour or so, and redo. Always works later. Also when you are on your "booked cruises" page, look for the little bell icon to the top right. Click on it from time to time to see if you have some updated info or action items.
  13. It doesn't apply on your "free" Platinum cruise (i.e., your 20th)
  14. Did the Amazon on a 31 day Marina cruise this last December. Was on my bucket list. There is truly nothing like it anywhere. But other than a sort of lazy journey on a nice ship with great food there's not that much to do - other than to win lots of Big O points. Remember it is on the equator so it is always hot. It is the jugular of the world's largest rainforest so it is always humid. Other than Manaus there's not much truly built up to see. If you are hardy you can take some hikes into the forest or small boat on a tributary but you can do that in other places. Also the view is unrelenting of a wide flowing river with unbroken green trees in the distance. But it was on my bucket list, and that's now checked off. The coastal towns of the SE Brazilian coast were interesting. And it was a great Oceania cruise and you can work really hard afterward to lose some of the happy pounds they leave you with!
  15. 15 cruises ago we moved from Holland America to Oceania because of the elevator noise. Stayed with Oceania for many, many reasons. But not only won't you hear elevator noise, but while standing near them you may miss that they have arrived if you're not looking!
  16. We live in Florida. We got out Blue Book last May for our Sirena cruise, and for our Marina Dec-Jan cruise. Just got it for our May 20 Vista cruise, but without the separate excursion book. Luggage tags included.
  17. Yes we got off in Buenos Aires. We are on the London-NYC this year and on from Lisbon-Rome next year but get off Oct 16. Looks like we just warm up your spot on the ship. 😱
  18. By October the reviews will be in. We are in for 12 days in May. 4 restaurants reserved. GDR multiple times. Yum. Must have excursions and activities before 6 each day. Then can eat. And, if it’s your want, all the new drinks they’ve added. And don’t forget the new bakery and enhanced tea time. As they say, it’s a tough job but someone’s got to do it.
  19. The Dover Sole in Toscana has always been our favorite.
  20. For lunch always open: Terrace Cafe, The GDR, Waves Grill and Aquamar. I understand Red Ginger may be open for lunch too but not sure if that’s only on At Sea days. For some the new bakery next to Baristas May be enough. Seems like some of the menu Ember items seem suitable for lunch.
  21. Pretty sure the closet is to the right of the bathroom door, Two closet doors there.
  22. We will be on Vista in May and look forward to any improvements - food, cabins, drinks and shows, Expect all of these to be improved. However, as in our past 250 nights on Oceania we've only gone to maybe 5 shows, what we would most appreciate is an earlier show time. Particularly on At Sea days. If you haven't guessed, we go to bed early.
