  1. I guess my travel agent (My wife-Not an agent, she just do all this) has better rates than you. YC cost us less than 20% more than a regular balcony room for 20x more service. But to each his/her own Thxs 🍻 Pat
  2. I won’t attack you, just my opinion too. I had never done anything like a yacht club upgrade before. My wife insisted as we are getting older and experience it. I honestly got pissed a little at the idea. I m a courier for a living, my wife a retired grocery store manager, no Rolex and Chanel folks. I never thought i would enjoy it so much. People were real nice. Young, old, rich, not so rich, nobody snubbed us. I m actually changing my home spending on ridiculous things to go back to yacht club every time. Thxs Pat and Kris
  3. What she says! We are not rich, live within our means. My wife insisted on bidding on YC. I was like “Seriously? A butler?” Well hold and behold, i will always do it now. Yacht club is amazing!!! Pat and Kris
  4. This won’t help you but between cruising MSC with a regular balcony room or inside in yacht club. I pick yacht club any day! My wife too. Pat
  5. Moorea, French Polynesia. I have been trying for 40 years to find the same in the Caribbean and Meditteranean but failed. Clear and gorgeous yes all over but not like Moorea. I hope to go back before it’s too late Pat
  6. This is our first yacht club booking, we jumped on a deal. we plan on using that room service quite a bit. How much do you give him/Her each time they show up with food or drinks? $3-$5? More? Less? Thxs Pat and Kris
  7. It’s a while ago. I don’t remember the exact place. It was a quiet day, hardly any tourists. We got lucky. we took a boat from Papeete (Tahiti) to Moorea. In Moorea we took one of their open small bus. we stopped at a bar restaurant that was real fancy. But it was closed, so we walked through the patio and accessed the beach. The half day was spent on that beach with only a native couple further away. The closest i have been to a tropical paradise. The best snorkeling ever along with Pennekamp reef state park (Florida). Pat
  8. I went to Moorea too. That is exact, 1 to 2 feet is full of coral and fish. I also saw a manta ray lol, but it was deeper like 20 feet. Tahiti is lousy compared to Moorea. Pat
  9. Wow This is the second extremely helpful answer. I m starting my homework. Thank-you Pat and Kris
  10. I really appreciate the help and will look at your link. One thing, you and the other poster wrote that you did not know which country I was from but I did write it "USA". Thanks again Pat
  11. Hi We booked a cruise with MSC, we bought their insurance and it's not that good (I know "Read it first next time"). It's not like it's an arm and a leg, no sweat. What concerns me more is that we only get $25000 medical each. Looking around, for not much we can get 10 times that. We can't cancel the insurance provided through MSC. So the question is "Is it legal to have 2 insurances?". We are in the USA, sailing to the Bahamas and Mexico. Thxs Pat and Kris
  12. Nice pair of Nike’s or Reebok. No worned out shoes. Thxs Pat
  13. They have that fancy surf and turf dinner one night. what is the dress code? slacks and polo ok for a man? what about shoes? I assume sneakers are a no no? Not worried about my wife, she dresses up. Thxs Pat and Kris
  14. Thanks to all. We are looking into it. Pat
  15. Hi We are rookies. We purchased the MSC insurance. Then reading here and there we realized it might not be such a good plan. It is non refundable but it does not matter. I was wondering if the law allows us to purchase a second insurance. I read here about insuremytrip.com and entering some info, we get so much more medical coverage. MSC $25000 medical per person LOL, that's probably the ambulance LOL (Exaggerating for fun). I hope we can, i don't care about another $200 when the consequences might be devastating. Thanks Pat and Kris
  16. Is there a chance you Can you message me your 3 to go sites? thxs
  17. Hi 3rd cruise coming up in October in the Western Caribbean with MSC. The next one will be in January, looking at booking for the Eastern Caribbean. Is it worth booking a cruise while on one? We hear it can be good deal. Thxs Pat and Kris
  18. Lots to look into and i really appreciate the help. one thing that i did not make clear, is that when i say my wife needs a guide, it’s someone that brings you to the snorkeling excursion. He goes in the water, sometimes pointing at interesting things but often being there in case a guest needs help. Thxs again P and K
  19. Very good post and thxs for that. I will try the best to give you specifics. 1) Mid 50’s couple. 2) I m a very experienced snorkeler. My wife not so much. When we do snorkeling excursions we make sure the guide can stay with her. so i can take off but am not reckless. 3) Resort got to have the paradisiac feel. Tropical landscape, gorgeous pool(s). 4) No party type, music blasting at pool and the likes. A little is fine of course. Loaded with kids is not good but of course some families are ok too. 40 kids playing in the pool is not for us. 5) Snorkeling from resort beach a plus after doing a snorkeling excursion from a resort. Someone mentioned Nachi Cocum here for day pass and they have snorkeling excursions. It does look great indeed. Punta Lagosta is our pier. Docked from 8 to 5. We want to do the snorkeling no matter what. The resort is second. But both would be great. you mention “Cheap opportunities”, can you elaborate? Like snorkeling from shore free would be ok too, if safe of course. I wAnt to see coral, puffers, triggers, parrotfish schools, stingrays and the likes maybe a shark or two if in a safe excursion. Just sand and a few damsels here and there won’t cut it. Thxs a lot P and K
