  1. Hi Joel. I was excited to hear the 2016 schedule is being released at the end of April as your previous post says. Does that include the summer 2016 sailings too? Do you have the date they go on sale? I like to plan ahead!! Many thanks.

  2. I live in Manhattan and Times Square is by far the worst area in the city. It is "tourist central" and full of junk shops and crappy chain restaurants. This is the part of the city that no New Yorker will visit. Do yourself a favor and stay at a hotel in another area. There are wonderful hotels near Central Park as well as Gramercy, West Greenwich Village and even midtown. It's so much more of a treat to see the city where the tourists don't go. You will appreciate it so much more!

  3. I am booked in this stateroom for a 14 day in July. I normally book forward rooms to avoid any vibrations. Has anyone ever stayed in or close to this room and noticed any vibrating? I think it's safe to say that Riviera is pretty smooth but I haven't yet stayed in that area of the ship so I want to be sure. Thanks all!

  4. Sorry, to clarify...I was thinking the food reviews from the Viking River Cruises would give a generally good idea of how good the food on the Viking Star would be. I don't know much about the Viking brand so I don't know if food is one of their specialties.

  5. How is the food on Viking? I know everyone will have their own opinion, but I'm curious how would it compare with the other upper premium lines like Oceania or Azamara? I always sail Oceania and I find their food fantastic...the buffet as well as the MDR...there is something for everyone. Does anyone have any comments and experience with Viking's cuisine? Thank you!

  6. I have been exploring the new Viking itineraries and I have never sailed in the winter in the Mediterranean. I'm all for off season but this is quite off season! Has anyone sailed in Jan/Feb/Mar in the Med? Just doesn't seem that appealing...but the itineraries are great and of course the ship looks fantastic. Not sure I want to be cold or get wet every day! Thoughts? Thanks!

  7. David Shermet is currently the CD on Marina. We are not fans. We had him for our last 2 cruises: Marina in Sept and Riviera in May. We find David quite phony. His TV segments are almost robotic. I don't see a genuineness in this CD. I'm not surpirsed that he was not around for this situation. I saw David in the gym more than I saw him around the ship. I'm really hoping we can have a taste of a new CD on our Riviera cruise in July, 2014. P

  8. I would also be anxious to hear about French Polynesia. I live in New York and it's an awfully long trip for a tropical vacation to Tahiti when I can get to the Caribbean very easily. I have heard that you can't compare the two places but there are some nicer Caribbean islands off the beaten path. I have always dreamed of going to Bora Bora but the I'm beginning to wonder if it's really worth it.

  9. Thanks for the info! Looks like Saranda and Butrint are much further south than Tirana (Durres). The Albanian coast looks very pretty (at least the area you were in). Haven't received many comments on here so I'm assuming this is a relatively unknown port with not much cruise tourism. All the other Adriatic ports are fantastic...this one I'm just unsure of. Thanks again!

  10. Hi everyone. I'm looking at some of the Adriatic ports and haven't seen any Cruise Critic comments on Tirana (Durres). Has anyone been there or have any feedback? In looking at some of the photos on Google it looks slightly depressing. I'm all for visiting new cities and new cultures but is this one worth the visit? Thanks for your info!
