And I simply post the facts as they actually are and while not at times the same as based on your experience your view at times appears clouded because of your complete love for Regent and missing some of the cases where Regent didn't go above and beyond as you often state.

People need the entire story and what the terms and conditions actually state so they know the pros and cons and not just the information thru rose colored glasses where everything is perfect.

    Finally. So well said.

  2. Did anyone else notice the price drop on some of the 2021 sailings? I was eyeing a July, 2021 14 day on Encore a few weeks ago and just noticed the price dropped $1000 pp. I may need to jump on this.

Booked not even 5 days ago  and checked the fare and  WOW... they reduced the price for my cabin by another $ 1,400. ( cruise only fare in Sept 2021 Marina)      For me  now a $6000 reduction for the  14 day cruise

These reductions might not apply to every cabin class   and the amount of savings is proportional to the original fare.

If your looking  or have looked at sale fares last weeks  then it might behoove you to check again......

I’m not seeing any change from the already reduced fares from 2 week’s ago and I know we are looking at the same cruise.

So with this in mind, and I agree 100% with what you say why would anyone want to cruise again? I am not willing to take the chance that I will be locked down for 14 days and then thrown off the ship somewhere in the world that would be hard to come home from.  Need to wait a few years to see how this turns out.

This really makes you think. Cruising I’m afraid to say has forever has changed. So many people can’t let go of not being able to cruise again as it has always been. In a sense they are deniers.....they the cheerleader guests and CEOs.

  5. You bring up so many good points. Really makes me think this doesn’t sound like a relaxing vacation. There would be a real lack of freedom....we essentially would have to do everything when it’s our turn. Hmmm no thanks.

    Sheila,

I agree with you but wonder why a person with 400+ nights on Regent that is taking the time to share information with us is being attacked on two threads?  He is also providing some much needed lighthearted jokes but is be criticized for that as well.  We know that he is a TA but that does not make what he says any less informative or factual.

There is a difference between lighthearted jokes and being condescending. I would never criticize someone’s age because they don’t share my sense of humor. That is not cool on any level. Besides no one likes a know it all. You can tell who is genuine and who is pompous.

  7. Being financially safe is all well and good. The bigger issue is the completely changed product that awaits passengers. I’m not interested in vacationing with a bunch of masks. And let’s begin to discuss the immense cost cutting that will happen. NCLH is notorious for that. This will not be the same cruise line or cruise experience. Period

I can't help but believe that this is the last nail in the coffin for NCLH.  After today's announcement who in the world is going to book a future cruise and pay the deposit on a cruise line that may go out of business?  Also, who is going to make a final payment on an already booked cruise under these circumstances?  Everyone caught in the middle will be doing everything possible to get as much of their money back as they can so the cash outflow at NCLH will become even more negative.

Unless NCLH is able to get more outside financing (which seems unlikely) the speed of the death spiral will begin today to increase.  So sad but life as we once knew it will never return when all of this is over.

Totally agree with you.  Why on earth would someone keep their money with them in hopes things will turnaround?!  That cruise you're holding out for won't look anything like you've had before.  Maybe NCLH will go down so Carnival and RCCL can survive.

We will certainly be looking to see what is offered and willing to put a deposit down on a great priced cruise in late 2021 - 2022.....also have 2 cruises for late 2020  booked while on board Sirena that can be changed so no deposit required .  Options are good...

I agree. I wonder if this “sale” will be on top of the already reduced fares.

I just canceled our Marina cruise for 9/21. Through this site and the 'regular' media I've learned things about the cruise industry that I didn't know and don't like. And this crisis doesn't seem to have improved their reputation. And now they're going into a financial crisis. I didn't even want them having my measly $1500 deposit. Here's part of the email I sent my O agent, who is a GREAT guy and I made sure to tell him that.

"We've given this a lot of thought and have decided to cancel the above cruise for next year. I'm going to be honest with both of you and say the entire cruise line business is showing a lack of professional ethics IMO.  Perhaps it's always been like this and I just haven't known. And how they've acted during this crisis doesn't inspire confidence. Maybe we'll return to cruising some day but not any time soon.

Just us but it's left a bad taste in our mouth.

I’m sorry to hear you cancelled. Is it the whole shady business of cruise lines avoiding taxes? What was it that changed your mind?

We went on a similar one this past Sept. It didn't go to Ireland but did more France ports. We loved it.

I highly recommend Overlord Tours if you're going to the Normandy beaches.

Dan, there is a Marriott property in Lisbon called Memmo Principe that was great if you're staying there post cruise. It was one of the Starwood Properties prior to the merger. I would also recommend Top Ten tours for any tours or transportation in the Lisbon area. They truly were top notch.

Thanks for this info. How was your weather that time of year? It can definitely be all over the place in that part of Europe.
