  1. As a portable dvd player is small I would take it.

There are 2 movie channels on the tv that play a movie on a 2 hour loop, the movies change every day, one of the movies is usually a kids movie.

There are abc channels but only when they can get reception usually 1st and 2nd day then last 2 days.

There are also pay per view movies as well.

  2. Overall our cruise on the Legend this time had a different vibe or feel to it than our last 3 Carnival cruises, there were less activities, the red frog pub only had the band play on a few nights, the entertainment staff were ok but lacked that little extra that we have been used to seeing on previous cruises and yes the DJ was a non event really.

We will be going back to the Spirit for our next cruise so hopefully it has a better vibe to it.

  3. I think I was on the same cruise you were on eaglebower, yes the shows were very average, only went to epic rock which was good and the magicians which were ok but my 9 year old liked them.

The 2 Spirit cruises and 1 Legend cruise prior all had better entertainment then this one but we were still on a cruise so it didn't bother me at all, still had a great time.

Pool deck + water + thongs(flip flops) is very slippery but bare feet was better.

  4. The trip to South Sea Island was $115 per adult.

On Carnivals AU website you can see the list of shore excursions available for each port with prices, although the prices quoted maybe slightly less than what it actually costs on the ship.

  5. Just got off the Legend which went to Suva and Port Denarau.

In Suva there are lots of people selling tours on the dock cheaply.

We paid a total of $60AU for 2 adults & 1 child to go to The Pearl resort for a couple of hours which was nice. 45min drive away from the dock, 2 hours at resort then 45 min back.

Port Denarau, we did a ship based tour to South Sea Island, we did this due to Carnival buying out the good island tours so only option was a ship based tour if you wanted to go to the islands but was a good day on the island.

Noumea was a very wet day, we had planned to get the ferry or water taxi over to Escapade Island for the day but the rain stopped that, it rained all day only stopped when the ship was leaving.

Mystery Island & Isle of Pines are beach day ports.

We had a great time as always, this was our 4th Carnival cruise.:D

  6. Beer prices between $7.50 & $8.95, they have Corona, Tooheys new & extra dry, VB, Carlton dry, etc lots to choose from and Summer ale is from The Lord Nelson Hotel - Brewery.

    Cocktails around $10.

Book tours onboard as well as Dr Seuss.

Just off the Legend, they had an afternoon tea party - Mad Hatters, twice and it had a $10 fee.

  7. Here is a short 3 min video I put together of our Carnival Spirit & Legend cruise's, a little teaser video of what to expect on a South Pacific Carnival cruise, there is a shot of an ocean view cabin and also an obstructed view cabin when the lifeboat was gone due to being at a tender port.

    Enjoy.....

  8. Go with the ocean view cabin, we usually go with an oceanview, had an interior once and won't do that again also had an odstructed view on deck 4 Carnival Spirit it had the french doors but also had a lifeboat in front of them, it was good to let natural light in the room but no view unless at a tender port then the lifeboat was gone.

  9. You'll be given two options with your luggage, carry off yourself or put out the night before. We always just carry ours off ourselves which will give you a later exit time and plenty of time for breakfast.

We are usually the last off at around 9 - 9.30, so we leave our luggage in our cabin then have breakfast then grab our luggage and go hang out in one of the lounges.

  10. Renting a car and staying in caravan park cabins is a more economical option. Free camping is generally restricted to isolated areas and in most cases camping in car parks or beach reserves is prohibited. If still keen on hiring a camper make certain you do plenty of research as some companies get a lot of negative reviews.

Caravan park franchises such as the Big4 and Top Tourist park groups offer quality campsites and on site cabins at reasonable prices with great facilities.

Wow Do you own a caravan park?

I could not think of anything worse than seeing Australia by staying in caravan parks.

As for being economical, you must be joking, a friend recently stay in a cabin for a week at a beachside caravan park, family of 4, he paid a lot more than we paid for a 2 week cruise for a family of 4.

Caravan parks are not what they used to be and are over priced for what they offer, as a motorhome owner they offer nothing I need or want.

  11. I've been on a high fat low carb diet for almost 5 years, if you really want to make it work it needs to be a permanent change.

I've seen many people say they are on low carb but really they aren't, most people still have too many carbs or too much protein and most people fail to add more fat to their diet, it should be high fat, moderate protein and low carb..

The best thing you can use is a blood sugar meter to measure your blood sugar after you eat a meal, one hour after then two hours after eating and track what your blood sugar does then you will get a very good understanding about what food does to YOUR blood sugar and modify your diet accordingly.

If you understand the biochemistry behind it, it will be a lot easier.

If you do get it right, you will feel like a new person, weight loss is effortless, energy levels will improve a lot and your health will improve greatly.

As for a cruise, your on vacation, enjoy it, don't go crazy and you'll know that any weight you put on will easily come back off when back home.:D
