  1. You can bring on wine at subsequent ports, but if they see them, they will hold them until the end of the cruise.

It was inconsistent in the med for us - they saw a bottle and said nothing once. At another port they really inspected our bottles of olive oil. Not sure if it was just different people or what. Also when embarking they allowed our two bottles, despite signage at the terminal saying no alcohol could be taken aboard. Who knows.

  2. I understand wanting a specific brand. We have had success bringing stuff aboard in the past...and it didn’t change how much we spent on alcohol on board. We took a chance and realized we could get reprimanded.

And I agree, choosing the drink package is hard when traveling with a group and one person doesn’t drink it on a line that requires all in the cabin to purchase. Absorbing that cost is asking a lot.

  3. All things considered, we would opt for the best balcony available (some good suggestions here). For us, no way AQ/Blu is worth $1000. Would book specialties for a portion of that money. Not knowing how long you have been together, the "you will spend all your time in the room" meme is assumptive. On our honeymoon, having been together for 5 years, we would have spent zero extra time in the room. Especially in Europe.

Exactly. We’d been together 9 years when we got married, did our honeymoon in the Med in an OV stateroom. We used the savings to fund tours and had an AMAZING time! Define romance how you will, but experiencing Europe for the first time together was exactly what we wanted for this trip. Plus, by not breaking the bank, we did Alaska the next year before turning our focus to expanding our family. Can’t wait to cruise with our son in a few years and make incredible memories as a family!

  4. Cruising with an infant is selfish and irresponsible because you aren't considering your cabin neighbors who have to tolerate your baby's crying all through the night. Or the baby's crying all through dining at any venue. Or the baby causing disruption during onboard entertainment/shows. I have NEVER seen a parent with an infant in diapers adhere to the pool rules of NOT putting the baby in the pool water. JMHO.

By that token, traveling at all with a baby is irresponsible. Parents with small children have every right to travel if they wish! And many, if not most, parents are not going to sit in the dining room/show/etc. with a crying baby. They’ll leave.

We are leaving our son at home (he will be 13 months) when we cruise the meeting next year but plan to introduce him to cruising not long after that!

  5. As a lover of Venice, I applaud the progress.

As a lover of small ships, I hope that a perhaps unintentional side effect of this might be that some cruise ships consider keeping a few smaller ships in their fleets (or even consider building new ones) for Med cruises.

    I wish!!!!!

  6. We did small our excursions privately on Coral last year and had no issues.

Ketchikan - hike in the Tongess, walk around town on own

Skagway - white pass railroad (train up, bus back), impromptu plane ride over Glacier Bay (totally worth the money! Amazing)

Juneau - whale watching and short hike to Mendenhall glacier, town/lunch on our own

Whittier/Anchorage - animal sanctuary, then lunch and dinner on our own (Anchorage Brewing Company for dinner)

  7. The crew have common sense. As was pointed out, they can tell what you're doing. The worst thing about two people is not whether you steal a drink once in while for your companion, it is what the cruise line will do to everyone because of the habit.

A lot of people on Carnival boards used to brag about sharing drinks. Now BOTH persons in a cabin have to buy the package if one does. They also limit the package to 15 drinks (liquor & non alcoholic) per day. Holland America also requires either both or none buy the drinks package and limit. Royal Caribbean now requires both passengers in a cabin to buy the liquor package too.

Do you want that to happen on Celebrity? If they determine a lot of people are sharing, they could very well institute a similar policy.

I like top shelf liquor. My DW only drinks one or at most two liquor drinks a day. The policy of us buying the same package would prevent me from buy it because the high price doesn't justify my wife paying for it as well.

The 15 drink limit is for alcohol only: https://help.carnival.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1106/~/cheers%21-beverage-program

  8. We stayed at the Continental 2 years ago and loved it! We had a balcony room onto Las Ramblas and enjoyed their buffet (and espresso!)

We loved the Continental as well. Such a good time people watching on the balcony, drinking Estrella! Staff were very friendly and the room was hilariously pink!

  9. I'm so glad you're writing this review! We're trying NCL for the first time next year on the Star. I've wanted to visit Greece for a long time and the combo with Dubrovnik sold my husband. Thanks for the feedback on our GoT tour - we'll check them out. We visited Kotor on our honeymoon And can't wait to go back! It was the unexpected highlight of our trip that time!
