Interestingly enough, some have reported good success using a hair straightener / so-called "flat iron" on their clothes. :)
This works for small areas (a shirt collar or isolated crease). Just make sure there isn't hair product residue on the straightener. I also bring fabrics that don't wrinkle easily or don't show the wrinkles too much.

We got nothing on our "mediterranemoon" with RCI. If you can afford it, Consider another line like Princess - they'll serve you cake at dinner to commemorate the occasion.

Agree with above. We watched the people waiting for the hotel shuttle and had a much smoother experience with Uber. Just remember to order the right size vehicle depending on what size luggage you've got!

You'll have fun on either itinerary! I think there's tons for kids to do on Carnival. There's definitely a big price differential between most of the Carnival ships and RCI's mega ships - but other than the bells and whistles of the mega ships the lines are very, very similar. Have an awesome time!

RCI gave me OBC when there was a price drop and after final payment in 2015. It never hurts to call.

We took a taxi from Hotel Continental to the port but am having trouble remembering the cost. Maybe $30 USD?

We did northbound and I think I prefer it that way because the scenery really "builds" as you go north - College Fjord was the icing on the cake for us!!

We did a great hike in Ketchikan through a third party. Small group and knowledgeable guide!

Our ship was headed on a transatlantic to Miami after our med cruise so we tipped in US dollars.

My husband and I did princess for the first time to Alaska and it was my parents first cruise. We had a fabulous time and didn't feel inferior at all. I would love to sail princess again.

We had pizza at a counter service place right by the Trevi fountain. It wasn't great but the gelato we had afterward was! In any case we wanted to eat relatively quick and get on with exploring the city and pizza worked for that.

CBM covers it all - one fast amazing day! Highly recommend.

I loved my spa interior on the Breeze, but for that price difference, I'd do the Valor...and plan an adult only trip with a spa cabin on the Breeze sometime soon!

I had a panoramic OV booked on FOTS but ended up switching to an aft balcony for the same price on my recent Eastern Carib. I found a few pics of the panoramic OV on google and would definitely like to try that type of cabin!

Great info. We embark on the Coral Princess in September. Nieuw Amsterdam also in port...would getting to port at 10:30am make sense?

Love this thread and was thinking of swapping out my Breeze cruise for FOS in September.
Which would you say has you feeling more connected to the sea?
I feel like on the FOS, the focus is much more towards the inside of the ship and less about being outside and seeing the ocean. For example, the promenade has food, etc., but you are in a mall. On the Breeze, you have the outdoor eating and drinking areas like Ocean Plaza (the exterior part), the outdoor seating area for Red Frog Pub, etc. Is there anything similar on FOS?
Particularly away from lido where everybody wants to sit?
This!!
Sailed both in the last year. Breeze makes much better use of the promenade deck and feeling like you're on a ship! The Royal Promenade is nice, but IMO it does feel like a shopping mall. Both ships have several strong points and id sail both again.

Time of year and itinerary matter too. Our honeymoon med cruise on Vision was definitely an older crowd which we expected and were fine with. Expecting my upcoming Caribbean will be much more of a mix age-wise!

The extra walk was an unfortunate surprise for us...particularly after logging 7+ walking miles in Rome that day!

Finally! Good (albeit delayed) decision by Carnival.

Hi there, thanks for sharing!
So Grand Cayman is not as pretty to you than Belize or Roatan? Interesting...
And why would I need to do an excursion in Belize?
Thank you for replying!
Yes, I like the scenery better in Belize and Roatan. All personal preference I suppose. I love the mangrove islands in Belize and the mountains in Roatan.
The port area in Belize is a cookie cutter cruise port. Not worth the tender ride to see it in my opinion unless you have an excursion planned. I went to what is now starfish island and had an awesome time. That tender took is directly from the ship to the island. After the excursion I took a tender to the mainland which is why I can say I'd recommend an excursion in Belize.

I'd pick #2. Belize and Roatan are both gorgeous!! You'd need an excursion in Belize but not at the other 2 ports. I pick this over either itinerary with Grand Cayman because it's not prettier than the other options and is VERY pricey.

Opinions Requested: what cruise line does Alaska best?
in Alaska
Posted
While we chose our cruise line based in itinerary (we wanted Glacier Bay) the unexpected high point for us was College Fjord. If I went again I'd choose an itinerary with both of those for scenic cruising!!
