  1. 100% get a TA and get a good one. I just dealt with a group of 40 a few months ago and it took a ton of time just dealing with dining.

Groups are very tough to make happy—-you won’t. Let a TA take care of it all so you can enjoy your own preparations and you’ll get some obc.

You get a free berth (one persons cost, does not include taxes or fees) for every 8 double occupancy cabins booked. You should also get $75 obc from royal and then whatever your TA gives you.

    Good luck

  2. I'll never understand a parent like you. A made-to-order burger might just be the child equivalent worth FAR MORE than the $10 you gamble away in one roll of a dice on a PASS line.

When my kids are old enough to enjoy a delicious burger from JR on Allure, they can have as many as they like—-they will just have to pay for them. Their normal cruise meal was already paid for by me. At least at a SR, you are getting some value for what you pay.

Gambling is my money, plus there is always a tiny chance of walking away a winner. JR is always a losing scenario.

By the way, I enjoy JR, I just don’t appreciate paying $10 ($40 for my family) on a cruise ship for it.

  3. I was told when I booked my cruise for Sep 2018, that I would get double points (Grand Suite with $750 off cert) and that I should go on day 1 to see the host to get my VIP sticker. I specifically asked about both and he was very confident about the double points. He had to check my play for the sticker, but came back and said even if they change the format that I would still get the sticker on day 1.

  4. Only you can determine that. RCI must think so if the market will bear $20.

I'm guessing the new price just started? I went ahead and booked it because the reviews I could find are pretty good. Much like specialty restaurants, I wonder if they are just gonna keep raising the price until it's empty and they have to give away discounts to fill it.

  5. Inb4 "If you can't afford $20, then you shouldn't be cruising! "

This is without a doubt the dumbest thing I've read today.

My point was that it went from free to $9 to $20 in a year. I can afford it just like I can afford the room service charge that was free just like many other things that were free and now aren't.

I'm asking if it's worth it? For our group, it ends up costing us $160. If it's not worth it, we will just pass and spend that money on a couple of bingo cards....

  6. Your friends would have to transfer their reservation to your TA. This can only happen if the TA your friends are currently using agrees to lose the booking.

That's what I was hoping not to hear. They are getting a ton of obc from their TA and won't switch. The free berth and $75 per cabin comes to around $1400. I'm wondering if I should just book the cheapest inside cabin and use it for a kids play pen.

  7. We have 9 cabins booked for an upcoming cruise, but two couples have to cancel due to new jobs. That puts us down to 7 which causes us to lose the $75 obc/cabin and the free berth for 1 person. This group is with one TA. We have friends that are also going, but they use a different TA and are not in our group.

Is there anyway to get them in our group so we can get back to 8 cabins? My TA says no, but I would like to ask here to make sure.as she has been wrong about stuff in the past.

  8. We were on the Sep 10th delayed Allure cruise that was only 1/3 full and we received a lot of freebies in our junior suite. We have a 2 year old daughter that loves the towel animals and the third night of the cruise we came back to our cabin to see an entire zoo of animals (I know that's free). There were at least 15 of them (our room attendant only had 1 cabin to clean).

Every night the waiter would bring 4 cupcakes for her to eat in the mdr instead of the dessert. There was a selection of cookies everyday in the cabin, one night there were 6 chocolate dipped strawberries and there were 2 bottles of water and a milk in the mini fridge everyday.

We did not ask for any of it. In fact the only ting I asked for was ice and that seemed to be the most difficult.

I know to never expect that again, but the staff went out of their way to make my daughter feel like the cruise was all for her. Awesome time

  9. I was on the shortened 4 night Allure sailing that came into PE the day after Harmony. I must say they had figured everything out, because it was a breeze. Still a lot of traffic lights out getting there, but once we parked at the Park n Go, we had no issues. Our waiter told us 2300 passengers onboard. We were on deck 7, and maybe saw 20 people total in our hallway the entire cruise. Shows were empty (no reservations were available or needed), casino only had half the tables open and you could get a chair anywhere you wanted by the pools. It was relaxing, but it was just too empty.

  10. I have also given up trying to look for Royal cruises. For months now, I can't get to actual pricing---always get a blank page or the error 400 message. Very annoying.

I have Allure and Harmony booked, after that it might be time for Disney as my kids are getting to that age.

Good bye for now Royal website, hope you're working in 4-6 years.

  11. I only read the first few pages of this thread so these questions may have been answered, but I didn't see them.

I'm on Harmony in Feb, if I buy the package now for just myself, does anyone know if they will force me to add my wife later if this test run becomes policy---or will I be okay because I bought before the rule started for all sailings?

We have several cabins with wives that don't drink much and won't buy the package. Can I just put the wives in the same cabins and the husbands in the others, keeping one original name on the reservation?

  12. We are in a similar situation for a Sep cruise on Allure, daughter will be 30 months at time of sailing. I'm not concerned at all about boarding as she will be in a small stroller, except when she gets her photo for the seapass card. I don't think those agents really care or know about sizing for a pack n play. We won't be using it anyways, My wife found a blow up float our daughter loves to sleep in. It has 4 sides so she can't roll out. It also comes with a middle insert that you can inflate if you put it on the ground---which makes it an air mattress with sides.
